Natural white coral pedestal container decorated with starfish seashells, scented plumeria candles, and natural looking silk floral stems. This is a simple arrangement I made, and just wanted to emphasize the three elements "Man, Earth, and Heaven".

While traveling to the Stokksnes peninsula located in Southern Iceland, we came upon this impressive mountain emphasized by steep slopes and a widest spectrum of natural colors.

Thank for your comments.

I spotted this beauty with a "For Sale" sign in the window on a well kept looking farmstead in Southeast Michigan. I could have cropped more tightly to emphasize the truck for Truck Thursday, but I rather like the look of the entire scene, and I think the truck stands out sufficiently to be the focal point.

HTT!

Happy serene weekend.

Approximately half of the country's population practice traditional religion,[12] which tends to emphasize links between the living and the razana (ancestors). The veneration of ancestors has led to the widespread tradition of tomb building, as well as the highlands practice of the famadihana, whereby a deceased family member's remains may be exhumed to be first carried in a procession with musicians and then rinsed and re-wrapped in fresh silk shrouds, also known as lambas, before being replaced in the tomb.

Almost half the Malagasy are Christian, with practitioners of Protestantism slightly outnumbering adherents to Roman Catholicism, and today, many Christians integrate their religious beliefs with traditional ones related to honoring the ancestors.

Autumn in Kyoto, Japan

Another version of this image was posted earlier where the women and their kimonos are emphasized against a muted background.

Thanks for viewing.

I must have looked ridiculous, lying flat on my belly to get the shot. Thankfully, there weren't many people about to have a laugh.

I cropped some repetitive sky and bridge off to emphasize the lines.

Kinkaku-ji "Temple of the Golden Pavilion"), officially named Rokuon-ji, lit. "Deer Garden Temple"), is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan.

The garden complex is an excellent example of Muromachi period garden design. The Muromachi period is considered to be a classical age of Japanese garden design. The correlation between buildings and its settings were greatly emphasized during this period. It was a way to integrate the structure within the landscape in an artistic way. The garden designs were characterized by a reduction in scale, a more central purpose, and a distinct setting.

A minimalistic approach was brought to the garden design, by recreating larger landscapes in a smaller scale around a structure.

It is designated as a National Special Historic Site and a National Special Landscape, and it is one of 17 locations comprising the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto World Heritage Site. It is also one of the most popular buildings in Japan, attracting a large number of visitors annually.

This was given the panoramic slice to emphasize the power of the horizontal planes in this photograph. There is a stronger sense of the clouds coming at you in this version than the earlier non-panoramic version.

Detail of the virgin Mary statue behind the high altar. A special design feature is the window behind the Madonna's head, the window acts as a halo, an effect emphasized by the golden rays emanating from the window.

St. Maria (St. Mary) is a Wallfahrtskirche (pilgrimage church) located in Thalkirchen, in the south of Munich. The church was built in Gothic style around 1390, replacing a Romanesque predecessor. The steeple still has some late Romanesque features. In 1693-1698 the church was converted to Baroque style, the appearance of the Madonna with the windew behind is a Rococo work by Ignaz Günther dating to 1759-1769.

The Church of the Intercession on the Nerl, a UNESCO world heritage site.

When you write and say about this temple, usually cite the words of Igor Grabar, "the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl near Vladimir is not only the most perfect temple, created in Russia, but also one of the greatest monuments of world art".

The temple was erected in one year in 1165 by Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky.

In the days of his "youth" the temple looked different, and the hill-a pedestal, is the work of human hands.

The underground part of the temple is 5,30 m . At the mouth of the Nerl rose artificial hill, which has become the pedestal for the Church of the Intercession and protect it from the treacherous waters of the spring. The hill was covered with a shell of white stone slabs with gutters and stairs leading down to the Marina.

The proportions of the temple are unusually graceful and beautiful. Often this temple is compared with the image of maiden Here everything is directed on achieving maximal effect of slenderness and height. Many parts, subtle, very delicate, emphasize the vertical axis of the construction.

Basilica San Vitale is one of the monuments of Ravenna and an important example of Byzantine art in Western Europe.

Construction on the church began in AD 527 and was completed in AD 548 during the reign of Emperor Justinian. The building is known for the best preserved Byzantine mosaics outside of Constantinople. The founder of the mosaics was probably the Byzantine emperor Justinian the Great, who wanted to emphasize the power of the state by building a temple.

The church, unlike a typical basilica, was erected on an octagonal plan with niches.

Church of St. Witalis is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

It's been such a long time since we've had a genuine pea soup fog around here and on Sunday we were blanketed all day. I was finally persuaded to get my camera out of the bag after almost a year and it was the thick fog that did it.

I know many people like cemeteries for different reasons. I like them because they demonstrate an important and inevitable aspect of the life cycle. It's also because reading the inscriptions makes me wonder about what made up the life of the one who has shuffled off this mortal coil.

Graveyards are generally peaceful places and deliberately designed to be so. The fog seemed to emphasize that peace as well as a kind of timelessness, so there, in the quiet, I couldn't help but think while the people buried there may have finished with this life they are certainly busy in their next one--another part of the cycle.

Thus, the great hope: life goes on.

Meanwhile, it has started to drizzle and the desolation and gloom of the western coast of the island are emphasized by this.

The devastation of the sea since the island was returned to nature becomes clear here.

The sea has mercilessly struck back here and recaptured what humanity has taken from it.

The large chunk in the foreground is not a piece of rock, but a large piece of the bottom of the salt marsh that has been torn off the sand by the fiercing waves.

Along the line of the surf during high tide there are also pieces of the former salt marsh, but these are further crunched at high tide and stronger wind. On the side of the piece in the foreground you can clearly see the remnants of the root systems of the former vegetation....

A pretty relaxing colors a little warmed to emphasize the beauty of the view.

Copán is an archaeological site of the Maya civilization located in the Copán Department of western Honduras, not far from the border with Guatemala. It was the capital city of a major Classic period kingdom from the 5th to 9th centuries AD. The city was located in the extreme southeast of the Mesoamerican cultural region, on the frontier with the Isthmo-Colombian cultural region, and was almost surrounded by non-Maya peoples. In this fertile valley now lies a city of about 3000, a small airport, and a winding road.

Copán was occupied for more than two thousand years, from the Early Preclassic period right through to the Postclassic. The city developed a distinctive sculptural style within the tradition of the lowland Maya, perhaps to emphasize the Maya ethnicity of the city's rulers.

The city has a historical record that spans the greater part of the Classic period and has been reconstructed in detail by archaeologists and epigraphers. Copán was a powerful city ruling a vast kingdom within the southern Maya area. The city suffered a major political disaster in AD 738 when Uaxaclajuun Ub'aah K'awiil, one of the greatest kings in Copán's dynastic history, was captured and executed by his former vassal, the king of Quiriguá. This unexpected defeat resulted in a 17-year hiatus at the city, during which time Copán may have been subject to Quiriguá in a reversal of fortunes.

A significant portion of the eastern side of the acropolis has been eroded away by the Copán River, although the river has since been diverted in order to protect the site from further damage.

There must have been some unusual angle plus warp on the window at the bottom to get this crazy reflection. This is one of the park buildings. I added a bit of grunge to emphasize the texture.

HWW!

A more closer look of "Pattern" (see first comment box). The texture reminds me of stone, so I did some processing to emphasize that.

The paper I used is 'glassine', which is great photogenic paper because of its translucency.

A tree I have walked by a thousand times and never saw a motive in it. Before the sun came up, I took the first pictures. This shot was taken in portrait format to emphasize the foreground a bit more.

"An image with high contrast will exhibit a full range of tones from good to evil, with dark shadows and bright highlights. Typically, high contrast images will enjoy strong, bold colors and textures will be emphasized. You might think of them as being deep and interesting."

Because of some comments, I want to emphasize that this is not a wild snake. It is taken in Oslo Reptile Park in 2013.

With setting sun and cloud shadows emphasizing the “black” in Black Canyon, a Canadian National potash train rumbles along the Thompson River west of Ashcroft, British Columbia, on the afternoon of September 24, 2015. Five locomotives power the eastbound train that is about to cross the Thompson on a truss bridge and dive directly into a curved tunnel in the heart of this rugged canyon.

While I was working with the holly berries I noticed that the theme for Crazy Tuesdays was "Red" and that got me thinking of a shot that really emphasized the red color of the berries. I tried a few different things but with each series of shots I moved further down the rabbit hole in my study of making larger and larger focus stacks. This grouping of berries measures about 1.75 in. wide X 1.5 in. tall, but has about 1 in. of depth and the leaf is on the diagonal making for a tricky focus stack. I tried a few different techniques but finally decided to bite the bullet and try something I've been thinking about. Instead of marking the front and back focus on the lens and then turning the focus ring a bit for each exposure I would take shots wherever I wanted fine detail in the final image. The technique involved shooting every detail and edge for each berry and leaf and led to way more individual shots (31 in total). I was surprised that it worked out pretty well with fewer areas to fix in post. This shot is the result after aligning, stacking and processing in Photoshop.

Minimalist photography

is a form of photography that is distinguished by extreme, austere simplicity. It emphasizes spareness and focuses solely on the smallest number of objects in the composition process. Minimalist photographers usually focus solely on one particular subject, rather than an abundance of color, patterns and information. ( wikipedia )

I love learning new stuff in photography, and some techniques requires allot of time to learn and understand..... witch I have a hard time to do . This is minimal as can be ( I think)

Facade decor of the Rukovishnikovs' museum-estate in Nizhny Novgorod. Russia.

The beginning of work can be roughly dated to 1875. Presumably, all work was completed in 1879 or early 1880. Researchers draw attention to the fact that the building was not erected from scratch, but was, in fact, a reconstruction of an old estate. The conclusion was confirmed by an analysis of the floor plans of the two buildings and research carried out during the restoration process. In the western part, the palace almost completely retains the planning structure of the old house.

The main house, built in the spirit of an Italian palazzo with stylized shapes and baroque details, occupies the eastern corner of the estate. Richly decorated with stucco and sculptural images, the three-story mansion faces the Upper Volzhskaya embankment with its main facade and acts as an accent in its development.

The design drawings of the existing building have not been found in the archives today. Researchers are aware of other projects for rebuilding the old mansion of S. Vezlomtsev. Dated in May 1875, the project envisaged the addition of an additional floor to the house at the mezzanine level. It was no coincidence that the eclectic style was chosen for the future construction, the success of which was explained by the rapid development of capitalism and the aesthetic tastes of large industrialists and merchants of the post-reform period. The merchants sought to "emphasize the dominance of money, their will and influence with loud cumbersomeness." The demand for eclecticism was explained by the desire of the bourgeoisie to assert itself in Russian society, which gave rise to a kind of cult of luxury. All this applied to the Rukavishnikovs.

In 2010 we had a pretty cold winter. The Wadden Sea with its interesting structures is always interesting for me. I think the ice emphasizes these structures.

The first news of Casteguelfo before the twelfth century to guard the strategic ford of the via Emilia on the river Taro.

In 1189 the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire Federico Barbarossa invested the marquis Oberto I Pallavicino of the castle of Castelguelfo.

In 1407 the Guelph Ottobuono de 'Terzi attacked the fortress; to further emphasize the defeat of the adverse Ghibellines, he renamed the castle Castrum Guelphum, or Castelguelfo.

I have found this abandoned kitten in a bramble bush.

Its stare emphasized fear. It do not know that have found a family.

Welcome Simba!

This photo is unfortunately not very up to date. Last year I traveled a lot, took a lot of pictures and enjoyed spending time out in the wild. Now it is time to share some photos with you.

This is a photo from the "Harz National Park" in Germany. It shows Ilse brook in autumn at the end of October. I like the mossy big stones and to emphasize the direction of the water, I chose a shutter speed of about a second.

More fun with Spring showers and rain drops. An experimental technique using intentional camera movement with second curtain flash to create a drizzling rain effect. I felt that monochrome better emphasized the atmospheric quality and drops. Does this effectively create a sense of movement with the falling rain? Happy Monochrome Bokeh Thursday!

I constructed this pair composite from images I took in 2021. I usually don't make a big deal about emphasizing copyright protection and enforcement but this unfortunately needs to be emphasized especially for my composite work.

I picked this crop to emphasize all the salmon swimming past this bear. This was downriver a ways from camp and these bigger boars have the whole system fine tuned to get the most with the least expenditure of effort.

This guy found a spot to stop and let his belly digest the previous 20 salmon he'd probably recently eaten while the salmon you see (the red stripes in the water) get to move on and live another day. Or not.

Interesting how sometimes random choices made by others can affect us in different ways: In little ways, good or bad, sometimes in big ways, good or bad.

Nothing profound here, just random thoughts

The missing exif data here isn't on purpose. I just forgot to reset one of my Lightroom settings while exporting images.

I recently discovered the book 'Modern Origami' by James Sakoda.

The term 'modern' was selected because the style of folding attempts to emphasize the beauty of the straight line and geometric forms.

I must say I like the abstractness of his models ;-)

Here you see the 'Owl-base', which is used to create several models.

The photo is up-side-down, I like that shape better, more positive upwards energy. Anyway…... it is a nice neck exercise or just turn your phone or tablet ;-))

This is an image of Yaquina Head taken from Agate beach. This is a sunrise shot where I tried to emphasize the repeating curves in the dunes. I also liked the fog along the horizon which added to the depth of the image

I was holding this vehicle for Teresa, having pointed out its fine condition and options, including the breezy, natural, and environmentally friendly air conditioning, but she seems to have lost interest.

I just want to emphasize the freedom of the buyer to choose her or his own body colour and interior furnishings and finish.

"Said when you want to emphasize that both people involved in a difficult situation must accept the blame, or that an activity needs two people who are willing to take part for it to happen."

A telephoto lens can be put to good use even in a slot canyon. Here I wanted to emphasize the texture of the foreground slice of sandstone and throw the background slightly out of focus. The 70-200 mm was well-suited.

Impressive place, in the is a puddle of shallow depth with water that enters directly from the sea.

It emphasizes the natural volcanic arch (quite big) that covers all the puddle and by which we must accede to arrive at this wonderful place and to give us a relaxing bath.

Shadowplay continues, Büyükçekmece

Re-cut: Just emphasizing the main figures and bringing the birds more to focus.

They say that if you have lemons, make lemonade. Well, we have snow, ice, and Hoar frost here in Alaska, so I'm going to be showing scenes like this over time.

In this case there was very little light as the sun was setting or had just set, giving the skies an interesting orange effect which I thought striking - and which I emphasized a bit. All the trees are at the edge of Reflections Lake and covered in Hoar frost which gives them this eerie white look.
