A 1970s Corgi shop display stand which I use to store some plastic toys, as it is a bit too fragile for the weight of diecasts. This image is mainly so I remember what is in it. There are quite a few American and German items as well as English ones and others.
The notes on the image should link to other images of the same vehicle – I sometimes find I need to reload the page before the outlines of the link boxes appear.
Note that the usual injunctions against approaching nesting birds don't apply in the Galapagos because the birds simply aren't afraid of humans. Only sites that don't harbor sensitive species are open to tourism, and all visitors making landings have to be accompanied by a certified guide. The rule here is that you have to keep at least 2 m from the wildlife -- and that's about how far we were from this pair.

Of all the diving ducks on the island the Ring-neck duck is probably the most scarce with only 3 being reported on the whole Avalon, 1 male and 2 females.
On Saturday I was hoping to see the male at Quidi Vidi lake since he had been reported there for a little while now. Only once before have I had the chance to photograph the male so I was excited to see him amongst the divers when I arrived.
I had hoped to come away with the classic field guide shot showing all his beautiful markings. I had grabbed a few keepers and I was just about to clue up my morning when I noticed him coming my way. He obviously wasn’t coming for me but I did notice he was coming for the female that was right next to me. I heard his distinct courting call and then he did his display. Hoping (actually praying) he would do it again I framed him up and let fire. I was very pleased when I looked at the back of my camera.
Warbirds over Wanaka is a biennial air show in Wanaka, held on the Easter weekend of even-numbered years since 1986. It is held at Wanaka Airport, 10 km south-east of Wanaka, in the southern South Island of New Zealand. Initially conceived by New Zealand live deer recovery pioneer, Sir Tim Wallis, as a display day for him to play with his collection of World War II aircraft, the show has grown into a major institution. Roads are closed and traffic is detoured around the area during the weekend. Hotels, motels and backpackers around Wanaka are usually booked well in advance (two years ahead). Accommodation is impossible to find if one does not have a booking.
This does capture my image, leaning against a car to get the shot. Of course, it wasn't intentional, but almost inevitable, so I classify it loosely as a self portrait.

4001 is currently operational.
4306 is currently stored pending traction motor repairs. It is expected to return to traffic again during 2019.

The aircraft is a Boeing Stearman Model 75 with thi 450 h.p. Pratt & Whitney engine The girl on the wing is Lesley Gale who beat six hundred rivals to join Britains first aerobatics and wing walking display team. Founded by Vic Norman and performing wingwalking displays since 1987.

About a year ago I posted a picture of the current state of my shelf. This is what it looks like now. Considerably more crowded than before, right?
Display in the gift shop at the Faribault Woolen Mill Co. Took the tour and learned how the products are made from the wool batt off the sheep to the finished product. It was very interesting and a multi-step process. Many of the machines are over 100 years old, and still going strong, producing a superior product. This mill is the last woolen mill in the U.S.
FYI-they are going to start making wool shirts soon!

1967-1971 Volkswagen 1300 Käfer as the famous Beetle from the five Disney movies between 1968-2005 about a Volkswagen Beetle called Herbie.
Herbie was its time ahead. Now several car brands are trying to realize an independent and automatic driving car, like Tesla. Herbie was able to do so already 50 years ago...
This Beetle is on permanent display in the middle of a roundabout. It took me about 2 and a half rounds to make acceptable photos... :-)
