Latin Name: Pavo cristatus - Indian Peafowl
We visited Belton House Garden Centre recently and they have a large outdoor aviary where there are various
Peafowl, Guinea Fowl, Chickens and Cockrels. Spring was obviously in the air at Belton G.C. as the males were in full display mode, of which I got several images.
Taken with my Canon EOS 7D and Canon EF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens and framed in Photoshop.

A Christmas tree in the window of a local restaurant - one of the workers was so shocked that someone would be taking a picture of her tree that she came out and talked with us for quite awhile. We will be going there to try it out!!
I remember that day at the beach where we were staying. We came across a large log planted in the sand, and I believe it was a display set up by the beachfront owner. The sky was a mix of blue with some clouds, and the sea was a bit wavy and inviting. The photo was taken in Cabangan, Zambales, directly facing the West Philippine Sea. A simple, beach scene—a weathered log standing upright on the soft sand, with waves washing ashore. It’s a relaxed, real moment that perfectly sums up the coastal vibe of that day.

Per Cornell's Birds of the World: "Injury-Feigning Display [often with wings spread more as well] -- to lead predators away from a nest." While we WERE on the roadway, I assume there was a nest nearby.
I had the most amazing experience shooting a pair of Louisiana waterthrush 3/24/2018. It was the first day of turkey season in Georgia so some roads that were previously blocked off in the logging property that doubles as a wildlife refuge were opened for the hunting season. That allowed me access to some habitat I prefer to work in Spring migration. That is where I heard the melodious song of my first Louisiana waterthrush of the season. As I was parking my pickup along the side of the dirt logging road I heard the song of my first B1ack-throated green warbler of the season as well. I gathered my gear and sauntered down the hill into the still largely denuded forest below where clear winding streams flowed. I choose an area to set up close to where I had been hearing the waterthrush. I soon realized there were two of them, and they were not behaving as competing males but rather were foraging about together. I had them down on this stream together, and the one seen is the suspected male, whom I observed singing on occasion. I have never seen a waterthrush display like this, and I wonder how many times this has been captured by camera? It is not a body posture I've ever observed before with this species. He acquired the pose slowly reminiscent of a tom turkey displaying. He maintained this pose for what seemed an eternity, but was just a few seconds. He better be careful since after all it is turkey season!

I invited my neighbor’s hummingbirds to come to take a shot of sweet nectar. They started coming to enjoy it. I set up my camera at 1/2500 to capture their visits. All these photographs were made at different days and at different hours. This one I used the sky as background
A few more shots from the Bolddogs Display Team at the West Show on Guernsey, last week. It was very spectacular but it does make me wonder what makes someone want to do this sort of thing and how they learn to do it!

What a huge and pleasant surprise - I went outside to get something from the garden this evening, and to my left this amazing display of noctilucent clouds was occurring! Forget the chores, get me a camera!!! I have waited ages to see this wonderful spectacle, since learning about them. Admittedly, not the most scenic of locations - looking to the north over a field close to my home - but there was no time to find anywhere else before they would disappear.....so electricity cables it was!! Anyway, I hope to be able to capture such a display again sometime, and hopefully when in a mountain range........ Anyway Fujifilm X-T30, Fujinon XF18-55mm f2.8-4.0 R LM OIS - ISO800/f4/25 secs
