The hush that falls upon the landscape at dusk was suddenly interrupted by a sudden loud, thundering boom. It was the soldiers' third attempt before it fired and even though there was a countdown to the firing of the cannon each time, the powerful boom startled me!
The suddenly loud noise thundered throughout the valley, saluting the end of the day at sunset. Leading up to this moment, someone had been playing bagpipes in the mountaintop outpost (which overlooks the chapel from a higher vantage point on the mountain). The cannon sat on the lawn of the world-famous wedding chapel at the Top of the Rock Ozarks Heritage Presserve, and it was quite a spectacular end to the day in this beautiful Ozarks preserve.
Incidentally, this beautiful wedding chapel has been recognized as one of the top nine in the world. The back of it is mostly glass and provides a beautiful view of the landscape and lake.
Unforunately, it was a perfectly cloudless evening, so I added the cloud layer in post processing to create this composite.

Well, we got another wallop of snow the other day, so I'm sure dreaming about spring flowers. To cheer myself up, I found these daffodils in my archives and rendered them with a watercolour effect in Topaz Studio 2. HSS!

This particular park offers a beautiful flower garden to stroll through and is a place that I always enjoy visiting. HSS!

With inflation sending food prices soaring - this male spruce hen is wondering if he will end up on someone's dining table. And yes - he does taste like "chicken".

These hydrangeas were photographed when they were turning from white to pink which is when I like them the very best. Edited with an effect and texture for Sliders Sunday. HSS!

I never expected to see a mushroom outside of our cabin in the middle of summer - but there it was, huddling beneath the green grass and assorted weeds. I got down on bended knee (ouch!) and got a few shots before the mosquito's and black flies could zero in on me. Once back inside - I decided that the mushroom belonged in an autumn setting, and voila! . . . thanks to sliders - that is exactly where it is now.
HSS everyone.

I took a quick bite into one of my favorite candies, and it cracked, and then split in half perfectly! Looking down at it, I was reminded of a flower. Taking the image into Topaz - I did a couple of tweaks and decided it might be appropriate for a "Sliders Sunday" post.
Also posted for Macro Mondays theme - "Open".
HSS! and HMM!
An old-fashioned flower, bleeding hearts are blooming all over the place these days. For a bit of fun and because it's Sliders Sunday, I couldn't help but lightly edit the scene with an abstract filter and saturate the colour in Topaz Studio 2. Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!
Thank you for your visits and comments, they're very much appreciated. Have a great day and upcoming week!
Photo manipulation of an image of a tractor to achieve various painterly, artistic and abstract effects using a combination of filters from Topaz Studio 2 and refinements in Lightroom. The resulting image emphasizes details in the main subject, but the whole picture has been softened and generalized.

I am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan, and I immediately thought of a "magnifying glass" when I saw this week's challenge.
As you can see, Sherlocks housekeeper had his favorite tea ready when he arrived home. When Sherlock came through the front door - he removed his hat, laid down his 10-power silver and chrome magnifying glass, and headed straight for the teapot atop his desk. As he relaxed for the evening, he puffed on his pipe and pondered over the next mysterious case that he had to solve - would he need Dr. Watsons help to solve it? . . .
I have been watching this heron for well over an hour when all of the sudden it performed a smoothly choreographed dance routine. Later on the reason surfaced its head... a large fish (carp). Obviously too much for a heron to handle.
I took this picture of leaves with the one on top covered in dew drops because it caught my eye. Later on I decided to separate the leaf from the rest of the pile by creating my own water reflections using 3 layers of motion shots of autumn color leaves at various densities.

I remember old fashioned "May Days" when as a child I made small paper baskets that I filled with tiny flowers to be hung on the doors of family members, friends, and neighbors. It brought joy to those that received my homemade offering, as well as joy to myself in the giving of the gift. Sadly, the tradition seems to be lost in our modern world.
It's snowing and blowing right now, so a time when I like to remember warmer days. This image was taken at a local park that I frequent. Most of the time I am creeping around under the bridge in my quest to find frogs and insects, but this time the huge crabapple tree took the show. HSS!
I slightly saturated the colour and added an effect in Topaz Studio 2.
