I am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan, and I immediately thought of a "magnifying glass" when I saw this week's challenge.

As you can see, Sherlocks housekeeper had his favorite tea ready when he arrived home. When Sherlock came through the front door - he removed his hat, laid down his 10-power silver and chrome magnifying glass, and headed straight for the teapot atop his desk. As he relaxed for the evening, he puffed on his pipe and pondered over the next mysterious case that he had to solve - would he need Dr. Watsons help to solve it? . . .

My image is on the cover of book which is kinda cool.

Doc doesn't need a gym membership to get a "workout" - he just needs to put on about six pounds of outerwear and get behind his snowblower. Every day, another six inches of snow slowly sifts over our landscape and needs to be removed. There is no way that we can wade through it - and swimming doesn't work either. LOL

I never expected to see a mushroom outside of our cabin in the middle of summer - but there it was, huddling beneath the green grass and assorted weeds. I got down on bended knee (ouch!) and got a few shots before the mosquito's and black flies could zero in on me. Once back inside - I decided that the mushroom belonged in an autumn setting, and voila! . . . thanks to sliders - that is exactly where it is now.

HSS everyone.

I'd much rather see white spring blossoms than the white snow that's falling right now. Ah well, I won't have to wait but for another month or so. If you have an overabundance of patience, please send me some! )O::

These flowers were photographed last year and then lightly edited in Topaz Studio 2 with an impressionism filter for Sliders Sunday. HSS!

Thank you for stopping by and for leaving me a comment. Have a great day!

Doc has our whole cabin decorated for Christmas, most of our shopping is done, and all that is left is the wrapping. We should be able to enjoy many peaceful days this holiday season.

We have a flock of 50 Lapland Longspurs beside our cabin, enjoying the seed that has fallen beneath our hanging feeders. They will rest and fatten up here, before heading to their birthing grounds farther north on the tundra.

The huge spring migration is taking place now, and the sky is filled with birds of all kinds. With warming temperatures and brilliant sunshine - Alaska is a paradise for bird loving photographers.

Photo manipulation of an image of a tractor to achieve various painterly, artistic and abstract effects using a combination of filters from Topaz Studio 2 and refinements in Lightroom. The resulting image emphasizes details in the main subject, but the whole picture has been softened and generalized.

I remember old fashioned "May Days" when as a child I made small paper baskets that I filled with tiny flowers to be hung on the doors of family members, friends, and neighbors. It brought joy to those that received my homemade offering, as well as joy to myself in the giving of the gift. Sadly, the tradition seems to be lost in our modern world.

The hush that falls upon the landscape at dusk was suddenly interrupted by a sudden loud, thundering boom. It was the soldiers' third attempt before it fired and even though there was a countdown to the firing of the cannon each time, the powerful boom startled me!

The suddenly loud noise thundered throughout the valley, saluting the end of the day at sunset. Leading up to this moment, someone had been playing bagpipes in the mountaintop outpost (which overlooks the chapel from a higher vantage point on the mountain). The cannon sat on the lawn of the world-famous wedding chapel at the Top of the Rock Ozarks Heritage Presserve, and it was quite a spectacular end to the day in this beautiful Ozarks preserve.

Incidentally, this beautiful wedding chapel has been recognized as one of the top nine in the world. The back of it is mostly glass and provides a beautiful view of the landscape and lake.

Unforunately, it was a perfectly cloudless evening, so I added the cloud layer in post processing to create this composite.

This plant grows abundantly around our cabin and undergoes many alterations from early spring until late in the fall. In this photo the leaves have yet to unfold - and yes, it is still snowing up here. HSS! Wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead.

Thanks for looking, and, for all your comments and invites over the last week ! I'm slowly catching up :)

With inflation sending food prices soaring - this male spruce hen is wondering if he will end up on someone's dining table. And yes - he does taste like "chicken".

Well, we got another wallop of snow the other day, so I'm sure dreaming about spring flowers. To cheer myself up, I found these daffodils in my archives and rendered them with a watercolour effect in Topaz Studio 2. HSS!

I found this old bridge sitting along the edge of a road that is seldom traveled. I must confess that I find the old much more appealing than the new.

It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.

There are many animals who need another home. We have found a female Japanese Spitz in that position. Her name is Marnie. She will live here after we fetch her on Wednesday 27th February.

So we can make her as happy as possible in her new home with us, I won't be on Flickr nearly as much for a while. I hope you will understand and have patience. Many of you will know what's involved and how it will change my life. Our beloved Zak died on 1st February and we need another to partly fill that enormous hole he left in our hearts. Marnie isn't a replacement, but another who needs us and we can love.

Here are some tulips for you to say 'thank you' in advance.

Processed with Topaz and Picmonkey and added a filter from the Windows 10 editing app. Hope you like them !
