Taking a tip from our very busy squirrels - we have been just as busy putting in our winters provisions. I spent a couple of hours this morning washing, and cutting up bags of peppers. Once cut in small pieces, I place them on a parchment lined cookie sheet and freeze them. Then I remove them from the sheet to plastic freezer bags. They will not stick together, and I can grab a handful to add to casseroles or breakfast omelet's.

I am squeezing Flickr in between my preparations for winter. Once everything is properly stored, I will be able to view and comment once again.

I found out what was slowing the traffic on I-275. For once it was not construction.

I've had this bush in my garden for 35 years, and it's been pruned every year and still blooms beautifully every spring. I felt like painting it - so here it is !

Beware... if you have a dog, please don't let him or her eat the berries. They're edible for birds but NOT for dogs. They may suffer acute kidney failure if they eat them. In fact, any berries, of any sort are dangerous for dogs, including dried fruit. Oh, and remembering it's Easter - chocolate is poisonous to dogs too !

As always, very many thanks for viewing my photo and for all your faves and comments. Have a wonderful Easter if you celebrate it !

Changes are taking place in our boreal forest as we transition from summer to autumn. This bunny knows that he too will transition from his brown fur, to his snow-white winter fur, as he looks at the changing colors of the grasses that surround him. HSS!

He looks for bugs before the early morning sun ever touches the ground. It's that time of year for Robins to fatten up before they make their long migration south. I will miss them when they go.

This was one of the shots I've taken below the massive rocks of the Meteora Monasteries ( Greece 2008 ) .

It was late in the afternoon when we arrived at our guest house nearby Meteora . Behind the accomadation towers a huge rock with a monastery sitting on top .Though we were tired from the drive but it was such a shame to end the day lounging waiting for dinner time . Whilst the kids were not keen on any walks after the long drive from Thessaloniki ,we did kill the rest of the daylight having a short walk through the bushes and eventually climbing up the big rock .We knew the monastery will be closed by the time we reached the point ,or even earlier but it was a lovely afternoon and it would be picturesque from the top watching the sunset .It indeed offers spendid scenery from the top ,but one thing uniquely cool ,we were the only ones up there - no tourists .

I was going through a large backlog of photos taken as far back as 2006 ,a large number of them yet to post .

I can't figure out how this keeps happening.

Well in his nineties and still looking after his woods.

Infrared image captured using 590 IR filter and Fujifilm X100S camera (the auto white balance in the camera creating a unique palette). Note to self: image manipulated using NIK Colorefex and Topaz Studio 2, with the latter providing a filter useful for creating a post-impressionist, painterly effect. An experiment in low-light infrared photography, which does fairly well with the Blue-IR filter, although the camera struggles to get sharp focus because of the low light.

I hope I'm not over-saturating my photostream with these blue rippled abstracts but It's so rare that I make so many in a series that I actually feel good about. And I have more waiting for upload, as well! :D

Doc and a very friendly fox returning home after Doc had walked up to our mailbox, accompanied by the little wilderness creature. The fox adopted us and thought that she was our family dog. She would lay around our cabin - follow Doc around as he did various outside chores and look in through our windows to see what was going on inside. We never touched her, thereby leaving her wild and free. One day she was caught in some nasty old trap that someone had placed in the forest, escaping with a very badly damaged leg. She came to us to say goodbye - and then limped away, never to be seen again.

And when I say, "sharp turn", I mean really sharp turn!

.

ODC - distorted

Tuscan countryside. Taken with my iPhone 7+, with Brushstroke and Snapseed.

I watched a cow moose and her baby

As they strolled the woods today,

Soon they came upon a river

And there was no other way.

They had to cross that water

But it was swift and oh so cold,

Mother moose was worried

Would baby do as told?

I watched them as together

They waded in to swim,

The water swirled around them

Their chances looked so slim.

Baby thrashed with all her might

Her mother close beside,

Baby struggled valiantly

Against the rivers tide.

The water swept them from my sight

I slumped in sheer despair,

"Please God, watch over them"

I offered up in prayer.

Soon after they were spotted

Munching on a willow tree,

Roaming in the forest

Living wild and free.

(Just another silly poem I wrote on June 5th, 1997 - but the story is true and unfolded before my very eyes along the Haines Highway in Alaska.)
