Last Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, Valentine's Day, lovers and couples celebrated together "the day of love". But what is important is that who loves each other has no specific day scheduled to love.
Thank you for your visits comments and favs! :-)

Doc doesn't need a gym membership to get a "workout" - he just needs to put on about six pounds of outerwear and get behind his snowblower. Every day, another six inches of snow slowly sifts over our landscape and needs to be removed. There is no way that we can wade through it - and swimming doesn't work either. LOL

I never expected to see a mushroom outside of our cabin in the middle of summer - but there it was, huddling beneath the green grass and assorted weeds. I got down on bended knee (ouch!) and got a few shots before the mosquito's and black flies could zero in on me. Once back inside - I decided that the mushroom belonged in an autumn setting, and voila! . . . thanks to sliders - that is exactly where it is now.
HSS everyone.

This cabin sits along the shoreline of a tiny lake, not too many miles from our own cabin. If only it could talk and tell me how it came to be built so many decades ago, and by whom. I'm sure that every remote dwelling has a unique story.
I see snow machine tracks mingled with animal tracks in the snow surrounding the cabin. Snowshoe hares always take refuge under a cabin during the winter, and you can clearly see their paths. While inside - I am sure the squirrels and shrews have made cozy little nests for themselves.

I'd much rather see white spring blossoms than the white snow that's falling right now. Ah well, I won't have to wait but for another month or so. If you have an overabundance of patience, please send me some! )O::
These flowers were photographed last year and then lightly edited in Topaz Studio 2 with an impressionism filter for Sliders Sunday. HSS!
Thank you for stopping by and for leaving me a comment. Have a great day!
Doc has our whole cabin decorated for Christmas, most of our shopping is done, and all that is left is the wrapping. We should be able to enjoy many peaceful days this holiday season.

We have a flock of 50 Lapland Longspurs beside our cabin, enjoying the seed that has fallen beneath our hanging feeders. They will rest and fatten up here, before heading to their birthing grounds farther north on the tundra.
The huge spring migration is taking place now, and the sky is filled with birds of all kinds. With warming temperatures and brilliant sunshine - Alaska is a paradise for bird loving photographers.

It's snowing right now, so I felt inspired to enhance the whiteness of the white allium. To that end, I applied a chalk pastel effect and vignette in Topaz Studio 2. Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!
Thank you so much for your visits and comments, I really appreciate them. Have a wonderful day!

I remember old fashioned "May Days" when as a child I made small paper baskets that I filled with tiny flowers to be hung on the doors of family members, friends, and neighbors. It brought joy to those that received my homemade offering, as well as joy to myself in the giving of the gift. Sadly, the tradition seems to be lost in our modern world.
After having had a thick layer of frozen rain topped by a layer of snow, everything became beautifully frosted, but it was sure cold out there! HSS!
Lightly edited with an impressionism filter (Cezanne) in Topaz Studio 2.

A passing rain cloud on an otherwise sunny day dotted the landscape with glittering gems such as this leaf; although slightly out of focus on the top right, this angle exposed the best of colours in the rain drops. Predictably, through contrast, by eliminating the clutter around it and opting for black further increased the effect.
This plant grows abundantly around our cabin and undergoes many alterations from early spring until late in the fall. In this photo the leaves have yet to unfold - and yes, it is still snowing up here. HSS! Wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead.
