With McCaig's Tower prominent on the skyline this can only Oban. No 27 040 waits with a train for Crianlarich and Glasgow.
Only platforms 3 and 4 survive, although there may be some sidings on the shore side - there were in 2001.
The tower was built by John McCaig, a wealthy philanthropic Scottish banker, who intended it should contain a museum and art gallery. However, construction eased on his death in 1902, his vision unfulfilled.

Burlington Northern Sante Fe (aka: BNSF) Diesel Locomotives Numbers 9086 & 9347 with Freight Train on CSX Tracks under the Ivan Allen Bridge, Atlanta, GA
In June 2018, my wife & I attended a Family Wedding at the Hilton Garden Inn, 275 Baker Street in Atlanta, Georgia. One end the hallway on the on the 13 Floor (they call it Floor PH) gave me a Great View of the CSX Tracks, while the other end of the hallway gave me a great view of the Skyview Ferris Wheel across the street from Centennial Olympic Park.
During our three day stay, I was able to photograph this passing train from the 13th floor of the hotel. This train led by 2 BNSF EMD SD70ACe's was passing under the Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard NW Bridge. I believe it was on the Norfolk Southern Tracks, which meet the CSX Tracks under this bridge.

It finally stopped raining in Columbus so I was able to get out and get take some photos.
I have been wanting to get this one for a while and it turned out pretty close to what I was picturing in my mind. I thought that the cloudy day would not work, but I think that it is a perfect backdrop.

Wat ik aan NS (of andere maatschappijen) materieel fotografeer is vaak bijvangst van stoom of museummaterieel waar ik voor op uit was getrokken. Gelukkig komt het nog wel een enkele keer voor dat ik even tijd heb, maar dat is helaas maar sporadisch.
As a full-time father and husband I hardly make pictures of regular trains. Almost only when the SSN or VSM has one of their rare main line trips, I am able to catch some regular trains too. So what I catch with my camera of the NS (or other companies) trains is often a side catch of steam or museum material passing by. Fortunately I do find occasionally some time to make pictures.

This diesel locomotive was previously a Santa Fe locomotive, and is one of the best looking first generation passenger locomotives in my opinion. 97304 “John Tiley” and 97303 inch across the newly-laid track having arrived with the 6C70 08:52 Crewe Basford Hall to Talerddig, with ballast for the worksite near Machynlleth.
Introduced on November 12, 1939, the “Rocky Mountain Rocket” was designed to compete in the fiercely contested Chicago-to-Colorado passenger market against giants like the Burlington Route (with its "Denver Zephyr") and the Union Pacific (with its "City of Denver"). While it wasn't quite as fast as its rivals, the Rock Island carved out a highly profitable niche by offering a feature no other railroad did: a one-seat, no-transfer ride directly from Chicago to Colorado Springs, right at the foot of Pikes Peak.
While the headline banner of the ad calls it one of the "Great Trains of America—Eastbound 'Rocket'", a closer look at the actual text of the ad reveals standard mid-century marketing misdirection. The copy specifically mentions: "When a fast Rock Island 'Rocket Freight' Diesel goes to work..." So, despite sharing the legendary "Rocket" branding and the striking crimson, black, and silver livery of the famous passenger streamliners, the train depicted in this painting is actually a high-speed freight train, not a passenger run.
During the late 1940s and 1950s, the Rock Island Railroad capitalized heavily on the immense popularity of its passenger "Rockets." To convince industrial shippers that their cargo would be moved with the same modern, high-speed efficiency, they painted their prime freight locomotives in the exact same glamorous red-and-black livery and coined the service "Rocket Freight."
Unlike the sleek, long passenger engines used on passenger runs, the FA-1 engine (number 158) was designed primarily as a dual-service or heavy freight locomotive. It had a shorter, more rugged, flat-faced snout compared to the sweeping noses of passenger-only diesels. Standard Oil's choice to feature a freight locomotive was highly intentional. Heavy-duty, long-haul freight service was the ultimate torture test for diesel engine lubricating oil.

One of the most long lived and numerous classes of British Rail diesel locomotives, the Class 37 was introduced as a result of the 1955 B. R. Modernisation plan. The first of the class appeared in 1959 with a total of 305 locomotives introduced over the next five years. Introduced as mixed freight locomotives they were used to to haul freight and, with a top of speed of 90mph and having been fitted with steam heat capability, were just as suited to hauling express and local passenger services.
No. 37 075 was built by English Electric at their Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns plant and completed in 1962 as No. D6775 and led a nomadic existance allocated to nine different locations and re-allocated to four of those during its years in BR service.
The locomotive was preserved in August 1999 and allocated to The Great Central Railway at two locations then onto Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, before moving once more to the Churnet Valley Railway in 2007. It moved to the KWVR in 2012. In 2013 it doubled for D326 in a BBC dram of The Great Train Robbery.
An oddity of the locomotive is that the noses, at each end of the locomotive, no longer match. Thought to be as a result of repair at sometime following accident damage One end has the original split head-code boxes but the other is of a later type, being completely flat and with no head-code boxes at all.
