Na ons bezoek vorig jaar, stond ook dit jaar weer een bezoek aan de Najaarsstoomdag in de plannig. Zeker ook omdat de 7742 van de SHM van de partij zou zijn. Helaas dit jaar geen mistige morgen, maar wel de gehele dag schitterend weer. Er reden weer mooie combinaties tussen Haaksbergen en Boekelo. Al met al weer een prachtige dag bij een van de mooiste museumlijntjes van Nederland.
After our Visit last year, we planned to make a visit to the annual 'Najaarsstoomdag' at the Museum Buurt Spoorweg again. Although we didn't have a foggy morning like last year (I love foggy days), we had beautiful weather the whole day. this year the 7742 of the SHM was the guest locomotive which was an extra reason for us to go to the MBS. So mice combination of locomotives and goods and passenger trains ran between Boekelo and Haaksbergen. In the end is was a pleasant, fruitful day along one of the most beautiful heritage railway lines of the Netherlands.

Western Maryland Railway DF15 class EMD BL-2 diesel electric locomotive # 81, is seen on display at the Mount Clare Shop & Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum in Baltimore, Maryland, August 1988. The EMD BL-2 locomotives were built in the late 1940's, and they are a rather unusual locomotive in their appearance, because it was the cross between the full car-body cab units of the era, but incorporated improved views for the crew as was to be provided by the new GP series of hood style locomotives, such as the GP-7. In total I believe that only 59 on these locomotives were built and that includes the single BL-1. You can see that the Western Maryland improved the original bulb style headlight with the installation of twin sealed beam lights. You might also notice that numerous old and historic buildings are situated in this area.

Nieuwe locomotieven voor leasebedrijf Porterbrook (PB), model JT42CWR van General Motors Electro-Motive Division GM-EMD, beter bekend onder de Britse typenaam Class 66. Locs PB 10 en 17 (en de 15 en 11) op de Open Dag te Tilburg 12-10-2002.
Na ontscheping te Rotterdam Heijplaat kwamen de Canadese locs naar de NedTrain hoofdwerkplaats Tilburg voor enkele Europese aanpassingen. (In het station pauzeerde Hondekop 766, tijdens een donateursrit Duivendrecht - Tilburg v.v.).

Elk jaar wordt met Hemelvaart de Nationale Stoomtreindag georganiseerd. Meestal zijn we dan bij de SGB of de RTM te vinden. Dit keer wilde ik, naar aanleiding van foto's die ik in Fb had gezien, eens naar de VSM. Samen met mijn oudste zoon op pad naar Loenen, waar we bijna een privé showtje goederenwagens rangeren hadden. Een groot deel van de ochtend hebben we bij de VSM doorgebracht, waarna we in de middag naar Zwolle zijn gegaan om daar nog de 1700 in dienst te bekijken.
Every year the National Steam Train Day is organized during Ascension Day. We can usually be found at the SGB or the RTM. This time, based on photos I had seen in Facebook, I wanted to go to the VSM. Together with my eldest son we went to Loenen, where we almost had a private show of shunting freight wagons. We spent a large part of the morning at the VSM, after which we went to Zwolle in the afternoon to view the 1700 in service there.
Jedes Jahr wird am Himmelfahrtstag der Nationale Dampfzugtag organisiert. In der Regel sind wir beim SGB oder beim RTM zu finden. Diesmal wollte ich, basierend auf Fotos, die ich auf Facebook gesehen hatte, zum VSM gehen. Zusammen mit meinem ältesten Sohn fuhren wir nach Loenen, wo wir fast eine Privatschau von Rangiergüterwagen hatten. Wir verbrachten den größten Teil des Vormittags im VSM und fuhren dann am Nachmittag nach Zwolle, um den dort im Einsatz befindlichen 1700 zu besichtigen.

CYXX 2108 is an EMD GP30M (aka: Rebuilt GP30), which was Built for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad in November 1962.
It's Heritage is as follows: Conrad Yelvington #2108, ex CSXT #6931, exx Alabama & Gulf Coast Railroad (aka: AGR), nee: B&O #6931.
CYDZ 239 is an ALCO S2m, which was Built in June 1946 as Ontario Northland #1202. It's Heritage is as follows: Conrad Yelvington #239, ex IMC-Agrico #202, nee: Ontario Northland #1202.
There is a Wye here, which connects to the CSX Track which crosses Main Street (aka: US Route 301) on a CSX Track which went West to was used to go West towards Leesburg (Paralleling Sumter County Road 44A) where Surplus Freight cars were stored during the last Real Estate Recession. That Spur Track was later removed and now ends near Phillips Lane in Wildwood.

The Rock (officially known as the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific) is commonly remembered as The Route of the Rockets, a slogan it marketed for years to showcase its fleet of well-known trains serving the Midwest. Interestingly railroad's fleet of Rockets started out as regional, short connections to various cities, almost commuter-like in nature. Nevertheless, these early trains turned out quite successful for a number of years. Their profitability and patronage prompted management to launch a whole fleet of long distance Rockets. Despite providing good service for many years and sporting stunning livery the Rocky Mountain Rocket struggled to remain competitive against the Union Pacific, Burlington, and Missouri Pacific. This factor, a crumbling financial record, and decreasing ridership after World War II prompted the Rock to cancel its heralded train in the mid-1960s." Als full time vader en echtgenoot sta ik, op de incidentele hoofdlijnritten van de SSN of VSM en de evenementen na, bijna niet meer langs het spoor. Wat ik aan NS (of andere maatschappijen) materieel fotografeer is vaak bijvangst van stoom of museummaterieel waar ik voor op uit was getrokken. Dit keer bij het allerlaatste Plandampf evenement in het Werratal tussen Meiningen en Eisenach
As a full-time father and husband I hardly make pictures of regular trains. Almost only when the SSN or VSM has one of their rare main line trips, I am able to catch some regular trains too. So what I catch with my camera of the NS (or other companies) trains is often a side catch of steam or museum material passing by.
