Banff National Park is located in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta. It was the first National Park in Canada, established in 1885. It contains some of the most dramatic scenery in North America.
In de nacht van 6 op 7 februari trok er een sneeuwstorm over het land. Met een code rood, was vervolgens al het verkeer ontregeld of kwam volledig stil te liggen. Zo ook bij de spoorwegen. Tegen het eind van de week kwam het treinverkeer langzaamaan weer op gang en werd het weer, hoewel nog steeds koud, steeds mooier. Dus een mooie reden om er nog even op uit te trekken met mijn oudste zoon.
On the night of 6 to 7 February, a snowstorm swept the country. With a code red, all traffic was subsequently disrupted or came to a complete standstill. This is also the case with the railways. Towards the end of the week, train traffic was slowly picking up again and the weather, although still cold, was getting better and better. So a good reason to go out with my oldest son to make some pictures.

Gegen Ende der Woche nahm der Zugverkehr langsam wieder zu und das Wetter wurde, obwohl es immer noch kalt war, immer besser. Ein guter Grund, mit meinem ältesten Sohn auszugehen um Bilder zu machen.

Elk jaar wordt met Hemelvaart de Nationale Stoomtreindag georganiseerd. Meestal zijn we dan bij de SGB of de RTM te vinden. Dit keer wilde ik, naar aanleiding van foto's die ik in Fb had gezien, eens naar de VSM. Samen met mijn oudste zoon op pad naar Loenen, waar we bijna een privé showtje goederenwagens rangeren hadden. Een groot deel van de ochtend hebben we bij de VSM doorgebracht, waarna we in de middag naar Zwolle zijn gegaan om daar nog de 1700 in dienst te bekijken.
Every year the National Steam Train Day is organized during Ascension Day. We can usually be found at the SGB or the RTM. This time, based on photos I had seen in Facebook, I wanted to go to the VSM. Together with my eldest son we went to Loenen, where we almost had a private show of shunting freight wagons. We spent a large part of the morning at the VSM, after which we went to Zwolle in the afternoon to view the 1700 in service there.
Jedes Jahr wird am Himmelfahrtstag der Nationale Dampfzugtag organisiert. In der Regel sind wir beim SGB oder beim RTM zu finden. Diesmal wollte ich, basierend auf Fotos, die ich auf Facebook gesehen hatte, zum VSM gehen. Zusammen mit meinem ältesten Sohn fuhren wir nach Loenen, wo wir fast eine Privatschau von Rangiergüterwagen hatten. Wir verbrachten den größten Teil des Vormittags im VSM und fuhren dann am Nachmittag nach Zwolle, um den dort im Einsatz befindlichen 1700 zu besichtigen.

Dit jaar ben ik weer met mijn twee zonen naar Terug naar Toen van de VSM geweest. En natuurlijk stonden er natuurlijk weer veel locs onder stoom. De gebruikelijke stoomtreinen tussen Beekbergen en Apeldoorn reden dit jaar alleen in de ochtend. Dus daar lag in de ochtend de focus op. In de middag werd vooral rondom Loenen doorgebracht. Het was weer een schitterend spektakel met prachtig weer.
Dieses Jahr bin ich mit meinen beiden Söhnen nach Zurück nach Damals der VSM gefahren. Und natürlich waren wieder viele Loks unter Dampf. Die üblichen Dampf Güterzüge zwischen Beekbergen und Apeldoorn liefen dieses Jahr nur am Morgen. Das war der Fokus am Morgen. Am Nachmittag wurde hauptsächlich um Loenen herum verbracht. Es war wieder ein großartiges Spektakel mit schönem Wetter.
This year my two sons and I went the event "Terug naar Toen (Back to then) off the VSM. And of course, many locs were under steam again. The usual steam goods trains between Beekbergen and Apeldoorn were only running in the morning this year. So that was the focus for the morning. In the afternoon we mainly spend our time around Loenen. Again it was a magnificent spectacle with beautiful weather.
I found these Two Florida Central Locomotives on a Team Track on the Florida Central Railroad (Pinsley Line) in the Orlando Regional Area of Florida. The FCEN Railroad Track parallels US Route 441 in the Orlando Area. I'm not 100 Percent Sure, but I think the Team Tracks were between US 441 and where Beardall Street meets North Rio Grand Avenue.

A Fairly New Species of Locomotives in Indian Railways But now increasing in India Day-By-Day at a very Fast Pace.
It is a Dual Cab Variant Of the WDG4 Locomotive.
The EMD GT46MAC is a freight-hauling diesel-electric locomotive with AC electric transmission built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division in 1997–1998 for Indian Railways, where they are classed as WDG4. Thirteen were built by EMD as order #958647, and a further eight were exported in kit form and were assembled in India. The class entered service in 1999.
Further construction has been under license in India by the Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW); more than 60 additional locomotives have been built as of 2006.They are numbered from #12001 upward. A similar type, the EMD GT46PAC, has also been produced for passenger service in India.
As of 2007, EMD and DLW have begun building GT46Ace's using IGBT technology to replace the older Gate turn-off thyristor technology. Newer editions with 4,500 hp (3,360 kW) have been produced. Over 600 WDG4 locomotives are currently in operation.
WDG4s first started operations in 1999 with the numbering starting from 12001 (this loco can still be seen in a splendid condition and is homed at the parent shed of Hubli.) Hubli Diesel Locomotive Shed has been operational since 1999, and it houses the maximum number of WDG4s from 12001-12064, 12067-12153, 12156, 12169, 12189, 12227, 12276, 12311–12313, 12325, 12326. The original WDG4s from 12001–12021 were imported and later on DLW started manufacturing it indigenously. With six traction motors, this locomotive has the capability of touching 105 km/h (65 mph) with a fully loaded freight train of 58 wagons. The locomotive has been praised for its ability to work smoothly in regions with massive gradients, especially in the (Braganza Ghats) and the Subrahmanya ghats having a gradient of 1:37 and 1:50 respectively.
The First Loco was Vijay but after some time the Railways has given a new No. to the WDG4D Series that starts with 70XXX.
WDG4D's are the Dual Faced Alternative to the WDG 4.
After a station stop at Rutherford train station (Bergen County Line) in Bergen County New Jersey, MTA #4906 GP40PH-2 powers north to Port Jervis New York.
A "Be the Engineer" rental train crawls from East Ely to Ely. The renter was a descendant of Southern Pacific men in California, who happy declared "I've come full circle!" when he left the cab at the end of the run.

On a miserable wet Autumn day in 2005, Br.218 / 218 Class B-B diesel-hydraulic 218 408 was seen at Wissembourg which is in eastern France just over the border from Die Pfalz in the west of Germany. It was operating a cross-border service on the branch line that connects Wissembourg with Landau in Germany.

Running 127 minutes late at this point, 97303 TnT with 97304 “John Tiley” pass Glandyfi on the 08:04 1Q05 Derby RTC to Machynlleth via Aberystwyth. It ran so late because of yet another central ERTMS failure. Naturally enough, it was nice and sunny at this location until roughly half an hour before it passed. This photo also clearly shows the view now that the road here has been improved and widened.
Denver Rio Grande & Western westbound Rio Grande Zephyr is operating on a main line curve while it is passing through another mountain range area Colorado, Summer 1980. The earth is starting to turn red in this area and much of the way further west it remains red.
97304 “John Tiley” and 37516 “Loch Laidon” pass the boatyard at Frongoch with day 1 of Steam Dreams‘ 1Z45 08:31 Paddington to Pwllheli “The Cambrian Coast Express.” A rogue cloud came along, but thankfully I got 304 in some sun. 1Z45 was scheduled to have a 40 minute recess at Mach, but this got amended on the day for a 5 minute stop. In oractice, it stopped at the station for 15 minutes, allowing me to leapfrog it.
97304 “John Tiley” and 97302 pass a flooded Cilcewydd with the heavily-delayed 6W70 Bescot to Talerddig ballast train. With ERTMS being dead due to the wet weather, it's surprising it still managed to run.

Milwaukee Road ALCO DL-109 # 14, is seen along with two girls posing in overalls on the nose for an advertisement photo, ca 1940's. These ALCO DL-109 locomotives were very distinctive in their Art Deco styling and applied paint scheme. The advertising girls don't hurt the scene either! The twin headlights with their special housings on the nose of these locomotives make them standout. These locomotives were used in Hiawatha service and for other trains.
