Elk jaar organiseert de Stoomtrein Goes Borsele (SGB) het evenement Sporen naar het Verleden. Dan komen er diverse stoom- en diesellocomotieven of treinen in actie. Dit jaar waren dat de SHM 5 ' Enkhuizen', de SHD 2205, de CREW 2454 Plan U stel 151, de SSN 23 023 en de eigen locs SGB 22 'Otter' en 264 'Sik'. Daarnaast stonden op het depot in Goes de SGB omC 910 en omC 909, CREW 2454 C9002 'Jaap', SHD 302282 'Anneke' en SHD Plan D 60 84 978 1 005-1 Meetrijtuig CTO ter bezichtiging. Genoeg te zien dus. Het was schitterend weer en we hebben ons dus weer prima vermaakt.

The weather was beautiful and we had a great time again.
Jedes Jahr organisiert der Stoomtrein Goes Borsele (SGB) die Veranstaltung Spuren in die Vergangenheit. Dann kommen verschiedene Dampf- und Diesellokomotiven bzw. Züge zum Einsatz. In diesem Jahr waren dies die SHM 5 „Enkhuizen“, die SHD 2205, die CREW 2454 Plan U Set 151, die SSN 23 023 und unsere eigenen Lokomotiven SGB 22 „Otter“ und 264 „Sik“. Darüber hinaus standen die SGB omC 910 und omC 909, CREW 2454 C9002 „Jaap“, SHD 302282 „Anneke“ und SHD Plan D 60 84 978 1 005-1 Messwagen CTO im Depot in Goes zur Besichtigung bereit. Es gibt also viel zu sehen. Das Wetter war wunderschön und wir hatten wieder eine tolle Zeit.

New Haven Railroad DERS-2c class ALCO-GE RS-3 diesel electric locomotives, led by # 519, along with 3 more, are seen handling a manifest freight train in an unknown yard location, 1950's. Also the train appears to departing the yard on a curve, because you may observe cars in the yard at an angle of approximately 90 degrees to the locomotives. There is a crewman standing on the front steps of locomotive # 519. The bridge components seen in the foreground appear to be part of a highway overpass. The name of the photographer that took this photo is unknown.

In mijn jongere jaren trok ik er wat regelmatiger op uit, als ik een vrije dag had, of als er een speciale rit of evenement op het programma stond. In die tijd fotografeerde ik voornamelijk met dia-rolletjes, die ik nu in aan het scannen ben en aan het bewerken ben (oplichten, vuil verwijderen, verscherpen) om ze weer toonbaar te maken. Zo bracht ik op 12 maart een dagje door op Amsterdam Cs en Haarlem.
When I was younger, I used to get out a little more regularly, when I had a day off, or when there was a special ride or event planned. At that time I mainly photographed with colour slide rolls, which I am now scanning and editing (lightening, removing dirt, sharpening) to make them acceptable again. One the 12th of March I spend a day at Amsterdam Central station and Haarlem.

In de zomervakantie van 2023 moesten mijn vrouw en ik wegens familie omstandigheden halsoverkop naar Aberdeen, Schotland. Tijdens een van de laatste dagen daar, bleek de Caledonian Railway een speciaal evenement te hebben; de Caledonian Railway Sulzer Diesel Gala. Diverse door diesellocomotieven getrokken treinen reden tussen Brechin en Bridge of Dun. Op diverse plekken langs de lijn heb ik gefotografeerd en natuurlijk ook zelf weer een ritje gemaakt. Toch nog een geslaagde dag geweest.
During the summer holidays of 2023, my wife and I had to rush to Aberdeen, Scotland, due to family circumstances. During one of the last days there, the Caledonian Railway turned out to be having a special event; the Caledonian Railway Sulzer Diesel Gala. Several diesel locomotive-hauled trains ran between Brechin and Bridge of Dun. I took photographs at various places along the line and of course also went for a ride myself. Still a successful day.
Während der Sommerferien 2023 mussten meine Frau und ich aus familiären Gründen eilig nach Aberdeen, Schottland, reisen. An einem der letzten Tage dort hatte die Caledonian Railway ein besonderes Ereignis; die Caledonian Railway Sulzer Diesel Gala. Zwischen Brechin und Bridge of Dun verkehrten mehrere von Diesellokomotiven gezogene Züge. Ich habe an verschiedenen Stellen entlang der Strecke Fotos gemacht und bin natürlich auch selbst mitgefahren. Dennoch ein erfolgreicher Tag.

Elk jaar organiseert de MBS een Najaarsstyoomdag. Dit jaar kwam ook de 162 in actie met een net opgeknapte boxcar. Ook werden er weer enkele slagen gereden met de Wismar railbus. Het was helaas erg regenachtig, wat echter wel weer bijdroeg aan de sfeer.
Every year the MBS organizes an Autumn Stoom Day. This year, the 162 came into action with a recently refurbished boxcar also. There were also some rides with the Wismar railbus. Unfortunately it was raining a lot, although it did add to the atmosphere.
Jedes Jahr organisiert die MBS einen Autumn Stoom Day. In diesem Jahr kam der 162 auch mit einem kürzlich renovierten Güterwagen zum Einsatz. Es gab auch einige fahrten mit dem Wismar-Schienenbus. Leider war es sehr regnerisch, was aber zur Atmosphäre beitrug.

Here the Speeder Excursion has arrived in Cordele, where the Speeders will spend Saturday Night. On Sunday we will make the trip to Plains Georgia, the Home Town of Former President Jimmy Carter. Both CSX and Norfolk Southern have Railroad Lines through Cordele and here I found a CSX Train with two Locomotives.
These two Photograph show Trailing Locomotive, CSX Number 5525, which is a GE Rebuilt B30-7. The Lead Locomotive is CSX Number 5937, which is a GE Rebuilt B40-8.
On April 22, 2006, I rode a Speeder from Pitts to Mt. Vernon, Georgia and Back on a trip sponsored by NARCOA (aka North American Rail Car Owners Association). Since I don't own a Motor Car (aka a Speeder) , I rode with my friend Bill, who owns two Motor Cars.

Dit jaar met mijn oudste zoon naar het jaarlijks evenement 'Sporen naar het verleden' geweest. Naast de eigen locs, waren dit jaar stoomloc Tom van Hoogovens Stoom IJmuiden en loc 8 Ooievaar van de SHM aanwezig. Ook maakte de omC 909 enkele ritten. Dit jaar werden ook meerdere goederentreinen gereden, waar voor mij de nadruk op lag. Het was weer een erg geslaagd evenement.
In diesem Jahr bin ich mit mein ältester Sohn zum jährlichen Veranstaltung der SGB "Sporen naar het verleden" gefahren. Neben den eigenen Locs waren in diesem Jahr die Dapflok Tom der Hoogovens Stoom Ijmuiden und die loc 8 Ooievaar der SHM zum Gast. Daneben machte die Omc909 einige fahrten. In diesem Jahr wurden auch mehrere Güterzüge gefahren, die besonderes meine Interesse hatten. Es war wieder eine sehr erfolgreiche Veranstaltung
This year, I went with eldest son to the annual event "Sporen naar het verleden". In addition to its own locs, the guests of this year were the steam locomotive Tom of the Hoogovens Stoom IJmuiden and the locomotive 8 "Ooievaar" of the SHM. Next to these the Omc909 also made some rides. Several freight trains were also running, which had my mayor interest. It was a very successful event.
Seaboard Coast Line Baldwin VO-1000m switcher 104, that was re-engined with an EMD 567 series 1,200 hp prime mover is seen in the yard at Saint Petersburg, Florida, ca 1970's. There was a number of Baldwin VO-1000m switchers that had their primer movers removed and replaced with EMD 567 series engines. Behind the switcher to the left in the background is an Amtrak locomotive. This railroad yard was the former ACL yard prior to the SCL merger.

Penn Central (ex PRR) EMD E7A locomotive 4240 with another E-unit is seen while backing down along a station platform at an unknown location, 1970, Bob Hughes Photo. The other E-unit maybe a former NYC EMD E8A locomotive. This station location was not specified, so hopefully someone out there may know this exact location. At this location there is no catenary or third rail, but there is multiple tracks and platforms.

97302 and 97303 sit at Newtown on the return leg of the retimed 3S71 RHTT 17:20 Coleham to Machynlleth, the first of the evening. The second RHTT to Machynlleth this evening left Coleham at 23:20. Evidently Network Rail like hosing money around like the water jets off the RHTT.
Elk jaar wordt met Hemelvaart de Nationale Stoomtreindag georganiseerd. Meestal zijn we dan bij de SGB of de RTM te vinden. Dit keer wilde ik, naar aanleiding van foto's die ik in Fb had gezien, eens naar de VSM. Samen met mijn oudste zoon op pad naar Loenen, waar we bijna een privé showtje goederenwagens rangeren hadden. Een groot deel van de ochtend hebben we bij de VSM doorgebracht, waarna we in de middag naar Zwolle zijn gegaan om daar nog de 1700 in dienst te bekijken.
Every year the National Steam Train Day is organized during Ascension Day. We can usually be found at the SGB or the RTM. This time, based on photos I had seen in Facebook, I wanted to go to the VSM. Together with my eldest son we went to Loenen, where we almost had a private show of shunting freight wagons. We spent a large part of the morning at the VSM, after which we went to Zwolle in the afternoon to view the 1700 in service there.

Diesmal wollte ich, basierend auf Fotos, die ich auf Facebook gesehen hatte, zum VSM gehen. Zusammen mit meinem ältesten Sohn fuhren wir nach Loenen, wo wir fast eine Privatschau von Rangiergüterwagen hatten. Wir verbrachten den größten Teil des Vormittags im VSM und fuhren dann am Nachmittag nach Zwolle, um den dort im Einsatz befindlichen 1700 zu besichtigen.

Elk jaar wordt met Hemelvaart de Nationale Stoomtreindag georganiseerd. Sinds twee jaar gaan we juist dan naar de VSM. Dit omdat er dan de hele dag gependeld wordt met een goederentrein met diesellocomotief. Vorig jaar was dit de 2530, dit jaar 'bakkie' 532. Samen met mijn oudste zoon ook dit jaar eerst op pad naar Loenen, waar we bijna een privé showtje goederenwagens rangeren hadden. En de rest van de dag hebben we langs de lijn of in Beekbergen, Loenen en Eerbeek doorgebracht, waarbij de nadruk lag op de 532 met de goederentrein.
Every year, National Steam Train Day is held on Ascension Day. For the past two years, we've been going to the VSM on that day. This is because there's a freight train with a diesel locomotive running all day. Last year it was the 2530, this year it was the 532. My eldest son and I headed to Loenen again this year, where we practically had a private show shunting freight wagons. We spent the rest of the day along the line or in Beekbergen, Loenen, and Eerbeek, focusing on the 532 and its freight train.

District of Matsqui, BC Canada
The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) known as CP Rail between 1968 and 1996 and simply Canadian Pacific, is a historic Canadian Class I railway incorporated in 1881. The railway is owned by Canadian Pacific Railway Limited, which began operations as legal owner in a corporate restructuring in 2001.
The railway was first built between eastern Canada and British Columbia between 1881 and 1885 (connecting with Ottawa Valley and Georgian Bay area lines built earlier), fulfilling a commitment extended to British Columbia when it entered Confederation in 1871; it was Canada's first transcontinental railway.
In 1937, the CPR acquired its first diesel-electric locomotive, a custom-built one-of-a-kind switcher numbered 7000. This locomotive was not successful and was not repeated. Production-model diesels were imported from American Locomotive Company (Alco) starting with five model S-2 yard switchers in 1943 and followed by further orders.
In 1949, the CPR acquired 13 Baldwin-designed locomotives from the Canadian Locomotive Company for its isolated Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway and Vancouver Island was quickly dieselized. Following that successful experiment, the CPR started to dieselize its main network. Dieselization was completed 11 years later, with its last steam locomotive running on 6 November 1960.
The CPR's first-generation locomotives were mostly made by General Motors Diesel and Montreal Locomotive Works (American Locomotive Company designs), with some made by the Canadian Locomotive Company to Baldwin and Fairbanks Morse designs.
