'Sporen naar het Verleden'is het jaarlijkse evenement bij de SGB. Diverse eigen locomotieven vaak ook gast materieel is aanwezig om dit evenement op te luisteren. Dit jaar was de 'Blauwe Engel' van het spoorwegmuseum aanwezig. Dit dieseltreinstel is vernoemd naar Marlene Dietrich, die op het moment dat het voor het eerst in Nederland op de rails kwam, wereldberoemd was.

Diverse treinen reden tussen Goes en Hoedekenskerke. Natuurlijk veel gefotografeerd langs het spoor, maar een ritje in de Blauwe Engel en de stoomtrein kon natuurlijk ook niet achter blijven. Verder hebben de kinderen zich uitstekend vermaakt in de speeltuin. Het was een geslaagde dag uit voor de hele familie.

 

'Tracks to the past' is the annual event at the SGB. Various own locomotives and often also guest locomotives are present to liven up this event. This year the 'Blue Angel' of the Dutch railway museum was present. This diesel train set is named after Marlene Dietrich, who was world famous when this train got into service in the Netherlands.

Several trains ran between Goes and Hoedekenskerke. Of course I made a lot photographs along the track, but a ride in the Blue Angel and the steam train could not be left behind. Furthermore, the children had a great time in the playground. It was a nice day out for the whole family.

 

'Spuren in die Vergangenheit' ist die jährliche Veranstaltung der SGB. Verschiedene eigene Lokomotiven, oft auch Gast Züge, verleihen dieser Veranstaltung Glanz. In diesem Jahr war der 'Blaue Engel' des Eisenbahnmuseums anwesend. Dieses Dieselzugset ist nach Marlene Dietrich benannt, die weltberühmt war, als es in den Niederlanden zum ersten Mal auf die Schienen kam.

Mehrere Züge fuhren zwischen Goes und Hoedekenskerke. Natürlich habe ich viele Fotos entlang der Strecke gemacht, aber eine Fahrt mit dem Blauen Engel und dem Dampfzug konnte auch nicht zurückgelassen werden. Außerdem hatten die Kinder eine tolle Zeit auf dem Spielplatz. Es war ein erfolgreicher Tag für die ganze Familie.

The Sandersville Railroad (SAN) was chartered in 1893 as a subsidiary of the Central of Georgia Railroad to run from a connection of that railroad in Tennille to Sandersville. It was extended north five miles from Sandersville to a kaolin mine and processing plants near Deepstep, GA.

 

Nicknamed The Kaolin Road, the Sandersville operates nine route miles along with two branch lines. The company rosters four SW500s, one MP15DC and two slug units which they call boosters.

Dit jaar waren dat de SHM 5 ' Enkhuizen', de SHD 2205, de CREW 2454 Plan U stel 151, de SSN 23 023 en de eigen locs SGB 22 'Otter' en 264 'Sik'. Daarnaast stonden op het depot in Goes de SGB omC 910 en omC 909, CREW 2454 C9002 'Jaap', SHD 302282 'Anneke' en SHD Plan D 60 84 978 1 005-1 Meetrijtuig CTO ter bezichtiging. Genoeg te zien dus. Het was schitterend weer en we hebben ons dus weer prima vermaakt.

The weather was beautiful and we had a great time again.

 

Jedes Jahr organisiert der Stoomtrein Goes Borsele (SGB) die Veranstaltung Spuren in die Vergangenheit. Dann kommen verschiedene Dampf- und Diesellokomotiven bzw. Züge zum Einsatz. In diesem Jahr waren dies die SHM 5 „Enkhuizen“, die SHD 2205, die CREW 2454 Plan U Set 151, die SSN 23 023 und unsere eigenen Lokomotiven SGB 22 „Otter“ und 264 „Sik“. Norfolk Southern (former Southern Railway) EMD GP50 diesel locomotive # 7024, along with other EMD locomotives, are seen while leading a train of TOFC along a main line in Georgia, November 1987. Across the tracks is Florida's noted railfan photographer Fred Clark Jr. with his back turned just after capturing his train image. We were both out and about photographing trains after chasing the N&W steam locomotive # 1218 and its Suwanee Railfan Excursion Train to Valdosta, Georgia.

This shortline railroad uses older EMD locomotives with a good portion of them being SD40M-2's along with some SD39-2's and a SD40-2. The small office building to the left with the blue roof area is the BLU HQ. The buildings to the right are part of the Evergreen Packaging Company Plant that produces food & beverage packaging. On the left side middle area is the locomotive servicing area.

Here the Speeder Excursion has arrived in Cordele, where the Speeders will spend Saturday Night. On Sunday we will make the trip to Plains Georgia, the Home Town of Former President Jimmy Carter. Both CSX and Norfolk Southern have Railroad Lines through Cordele and here I found a CSX Train with two Locomotives.

 

These two Photograph show Trailing Locomotive, CSX Number 5525, which is a GE Rebuilt B30-7. The Lead Locomotive is CSX Number 5937, which is a GE Rebuilt B40-8.

 

On April 22, 2006, I rode a Speeder from Pitts to Mt. Vernon, Georgia and Back on a trip sponsored by NARCOA (aka North American Rail Car Owners Association). Since I don't own a Motor Car (aka a Speeder) , I rode with my friend Bill, who owns two Motor Cars.

Dit jaar met mijn oudste zoon naar het jaarlijks evenement 'Sporen naar het verleden' geweest. Naast de eigen locs, waren dit jaar stoomloc Tom van Hoogovens Stoom IJmuiden en loc 8 Ooievaar van de SHM aanwezig. Ook maakte de omC 909 enkele ritten. Dit jaar werden ook meerdere goederentreinen gereden, waar voor mij de nadruk op lag. Het was weer een erg geslaagd evenement.

 

In diesem Jahr bin ich mit mein ältester Sohn zum jährlichen Veranstaltung der SGB "Sporen naar het verleden" gefahren. Neben den eigenen Locs waren in diesem Jahr die Dapflok Tom der Hoogovens Stoom Ijmuiden und die loc 8 Ooievaar der SHM zum Gast. Daneben machte die Omc909 einige fahrten. In diesem Jahr wurden auch mehrere Güterzüge gefahren, die besonderes meine Interesse hatten. Es war wieder eine sehr erfolgreiche Veranstaltung

In addition to its own locs, the guests of this year were the steam locomotive Tom of the Hoogovens Stoom IJmuiden and the locomotive 8 "Ooievaar" of the SHM. Next to these the Omc909 also made some rides. Several freight trains were also running, which had my mayor interest. It was a very successful event.

In de zomervakantie van 2023 moesten mijn vrouw en ik wegens familie omstandigheden halsoverkop naar Aberdeen, Schotland. Tijdens een van de laatste dagen daar, bleek de Caledonian Railway een speciaal evenement te hebben; de Caledonian Railway Sulzer Diesel Gala. Diverse door diesellocomotieven getrokken treinen reden tussen Brechin en Bridge of Dun. Op diverse plekken langs de lijn heb ik gefotografeerd en natuurlijk ook zelf weer een ritje gemaakt. Toch nog een geslaagde dag geweest.

 

During the summer holidays of 2023, my wife and I had to rush to Aberdeen, Scotland, due to family circumstances. During one of the last days there, the Caledonian Railway turned out to be having a special event; the Caledonian Railway Sulzer Diesel Gala. Several diesel locomotive-hauled trains ran between Brechin and Bridge of Dun. I took photographs at various places along the line and of course also went for a ride myself. Still a successful day.

 

Während der Sommerferien 2023 mussten meine Frau und ich aus familiären Gründen eilig nach Aberdeen, Schottland, reisen. An einem der letzten Tage dort hatte die Caledonian Railway ein besonderes Ereignis; die Caledonian Railway Sulzer Diesel Gala. Zwischen Brechin und Bridge of Dun verkehrten mehrere von Diesellokomotiven gezogene Züge. Ich habe an verschiedenen Stellen entlang der Strecke Fotos gemacht und bin natürlich auch selbst mitgefahren. Dennoch ein erfolgreicher Tag.

Elk jaar organiseert de MBS een Najaarsstyoomdag. Dit jaar kwam ook de 162 in actie met een net opgeknapte boxcar. Ook werden er weer enkele slagen gereden met de Wismar railbus. Het was helaas erg regenachtig, wat echter wel weer bijdroeg aan de sfeer.

 

Every year the MBS organizes an Autumn Stoom Day. This year, the 162 came into action with a recently refurbished boxcar also. There were also some rides with the Wismar railbus. Unfortunately it was raining a lot, although it did add to the atmosphere.

 

Jedes Jahr organisiert die MBS einen Autumn Stoom Day. In diesem Jahr kam der 162 auch mit einem kürzlich renovierten Güterwagen zum Einsatz. Es gab auch einige fahrten mit dem Wismar-Schienenbus. Leider war es sehr regnerisch, was aber zur Atmosphäre beitrug.

Itarsi WDP4D 40167 Storms Past with 12141 Mumbai LTT - PatliPutra SF Express in tow , As The Monsoon Storm Clouds Can be seen hovering around , after the train left in a few minutes Rains came down thundering and it then rained continuously for over 5 hours without a break and I was confined to a small shed to save myself from getting drenched. It turned the whole weather from Humid to super Cool. The Monsoons are a great time to do Photography and I just love these Storm Clouds.

Variants -

There are three variants of this loco - the original WDP-4 which is a 4,000 hp (2,980 kW) loco, the WDP-4B which is a 4,500 hp (3,360 kW)126 t (124 long tons; 139 short tons) weighted loco with a single cab and the newest WDP-4D which is a 4,500 hp (3,360 kW) loco with dual cabs.

 

Performance -

The WDP-4 is capable of hauling 24 coach trains at 110–130 km/hour. It has also been used for speed trials where it has hauled 9 coach trains at 180 km/hour with recent trials done with Renfe Talgo coaches where it was tested at 195Kmph.

 

The locomotives can be used in either direction, and frequently haul trains long hood forward, as in the picture. Newer editions with 4500 hp have been produced which have been named with the sub class WDP-4B /WDP-4D which have different traction control with six traction motors and are Co-Co bogie equipped (more similar to WDG-4), unlike the original which has a Bo-1-1-Bo arrangement with four traction motors. Due to some controversies regarding visibility hindrances faced by loco pilots in driving long hood front, the basic WDP-4B model has been modified to dual cab to eliminate any such possibility. Other features of WDP-4B and WDP-4D are same. The cabs have a slightly wider profiles, to improve visibility.

 

Some of the WDP-4B/WDP-4D are spotted having provision for an inverter-driven head-end power unit, allowing running trains without a generating car (EOG) for hotel power.

The loco is very fuel efficient and has minimal exhaust emissions unlike ALCO based locomotives, thanks to its 2 stroke high efficiency diesel engine. It is characterized by its loud horn, which can be heard for large distances around, and aircraft-like sound of its running engine.

Als full time vader en echtgenoot sta ik, op de incidentele hoofdlijnritten van de SSN of VSM en de evenementen na, bijna niet meer langs het spoor. Wat ik aan NS (of andere maatschappijen) materieel fotografeer is vaak bijvangst van stoom of museummaterieel waar ik voor op uit was getrokken. Gelukkig komt het nog wel een enkele keer voor dat ik even tijd heb, maar dat is helaas maar sporadisch.

Dit keer hadden mijn vrouw en ik twee dagkaartjes 1e klas cadeau gekregen. Deze zouden tot 31 december geldig zijn. Door omstandigheden kwam het er echter niet van deze ook te gebruiken. Dus de 30 december op de trein naar Maastricht gestapt voor een lekker dagje uit.

 

As a full-time father and husband I hardly make pictures of regular trains. Almost only when the SSN or VSM has one of their rare main line trips, I am able to catch some regular trains too. So what I catch with my camera of the NS (or other companies) trains is often a side catch of steam or museum material passing by. Fortunately I do find occasionally some time to make pictures.

We got two day tickets 1st class as a gift, valid till December 31st. Due to curcumstances not able to use them. So the 30th we went for a relaxing day out to Maastricht. It was a nice day out.

Seaboard Coast Line local freight trains, both led by GE U18B locomotives, are seen working at Betty Lane in Clearwater, Florida, 1-24-1976. Fred Clark, Jr. GE U18B locomotive 339, with its train is on a siding while the other local train led by GE U18B locomotive 353 is passing by. Amtrak Champion southbound, led by EMD SDP40F locomotive 604 with 9 cars, sits alone on its last run in the station, with no one coming to see her for the last time at Saint Petersburg, Florida, 9-9-1977, Fred Clark, Jr. Back during the ACL days of their flagship train( "aka: Big Bertha,") the "Champion," I have seen trains with as many as 19 cars departing Saint Petersburg during 1955.

Standing on the bridge at the extreme end of the station, gives a good vantage point when the trains enter and leave the station.
