NS EMD SD40-2 locomotive # 6107 & another lead a manifest freight train southbound across a curved main line deck bridge, that's approximately 40 miles north of Chattanooga, Tennessee, October 1987. Further back in the train's consist is TOFC equipment. This photo was taken while I was out and about chasing the N&W steam locomotive # 1218 that was leading a railfan excursion train. The Fall leaf changing colors were starting to standout among the trees. You can see in the lead locomotive the engineer and another crew member, perhaps the conductor. In the cab of the second locomotive you can see another employee riding in the engineers position.

Denver & Rio Grande Western westbound Rio Grande Zephyr is operating on a main line curve near the Rocky Mountain front range in an open area that has wind break hoppers along side to protect the trains from severe winds in Colorado, Summer 1980. There is a long string of hopper cars in this area that are full of ballast and dirt with vegetation growing on top of the ballast as you can see in the photo. The conductor said that many trains have derailed at this location due to the often present high speed winds. This back lighted photo was hard to present decently.
On the weekend when some lucky person in Clare won €30 million in the Euromillions lottery it would be churlish not to visit and Mr. O'Dea provides the ideal opportunity to do so. Miltown Malbay railway station as it was in 1956 is the subject of the image with a diesel engine at the fore stands at the platform. There's a choice of bicycles available for those who might need to catch up if the train has left the station - or is that taking "Are you right there Michael" too far.

After our previous visits to the Bello Festival, a return visit was definitely on the agenda. This time, the route was again divided into three sections, with various trams running back and forth: Hoorn-Wognum-Nibbixwoud, Wognum-Nibbixwoud-Twisk, and Twisk-Medemblik. This resulted in a busy schedule. Since I've been volunteering at the Museum Steam Tram since April, I now spent Saturdays working along the line and Sundays as a conductor on the tram. Saturday started early because I wanted to catch the freight train to Medemblik. After that, I focused mainly on the Bello, with its tram between Wognum-Nibbixwoud and Twisk, and the wooden tram between Twisk and Medemblik. I also took a picture of the SSN steam train in Hoorn as it started its return journey. The day was a bit gray, but that didn't spoil the fun.

Every year on Ascension Day, National Steam Train Day is held. We were usually at the SGB or the RTM. Last year, we went to the VSM for the first time. We really enjoyed it. This year, my eldest son and I also went to Loenen, where we practically had a private show shunting freight cars. We spent the rest of the day along the line or in Beekbergen and Loenen, focusing on the 2530 freight train.

These locomotives are in the Biltmore Village area, and you can see the edge of the Biltmore Station platform canopy on the far right side background. Numerous railfans, passengers and visitors are included in this scene. The locomotives are preparing to head to the service and maintenance area of the railroad yard. On this day while on the trip we had interesting weather conditions, because there everything from heavy overcast sky's to rain and wind, plus bright sunshine along the route.

Since I don't know where this photo was takne, it sort of reminds me of the tracks near New London Station if the train was an eastbound.

I took this Photograph somewhere in the area of the Restored Depot in Hamlet North Carolina during a Weekend Trip to Hamlet, North Carolina sponsored by the Atlantic Coast Line & Seaboard Air Line Historical Society. We visited the Large CSX Hump Yard, Restored Hamlet Depot and several small Short Line Railroads in the Area such as the Laurinburg & Southern, the Aberdeen, Carolina & Western and the Aberdeen & Rockfish.
Unfortunately, I didn't take adequate Notes during this trip, so I cannot identify all of the Cities and Towns, where I took many of my Photographs. We probably traveled within about a 50 Mile Circle around Hamlet, North Carolina.

During the summer holidays, the SGB operated an extended timetable, including the two OMC trains. These are among the most beautiful (replica) trains operating in the Netherlands, so our focus was primarily on these two trains. My son also brought along his Lego model, which he had designed and built, and which was photographed alongside the original.

CSX southbound manifest freight train that is led by five diesel locomotives just crossed a diamond over the Norfolk Southern north-south main lines in Cordele, Georgia, 1990. Today a train such as this would perhaps be led by only two newer locomotives. This location was very active at this time with numerous trains being operated on both CSX & NS main lines, along with a short line operator being present.

On April 1st, the SKL was faced with the subsidence of the Valkenburgse Meer shoreline, making it impossible to drive around the lake. Only a few trips back and forth within its own grounds and to the storage shed were still possible. But as a boost, I decided to visit again and take some photos. I'd focus more on details, buildings, and equipment within the museum itself.

This quaint fishing village at the mouth of the Fraser River was voted #1 Metro Vancouver neighborhood out of 192 in 2020. Much of it was declared a heritage zone in 1960, which accounts the warm, old-timey vibe. But it is also a working fishing village, which makes it a seafood lover’s paradise. You can buy fresh seafood right off the dock!
But there’s more to Fisherman’s Wharf – a floating dockside walkway that threads between the fishing boats – as well as the accompanying Steveston Landing boardwalk of shops and eateries than meets the eye. The shoreline attraction is a direct link to the local fishing industry and the region’s cannery-era heyday, and it’s also a perfect place to explore!
At Fisherman’s Wharf visitors can wander down the ramp, walk the floating pathways and peer at the seafood sold from the small armada of boats moored alongside. This public fish sales market offers a cornucopia of glistening goodies, which can include salmon, rockfish, and brimming baskets of shrimp. Look out for fresh-caught sea urchins and keep in mind that the highly anticipated spot prawn season (typically mid-May to June) is a must-see.

New Haven Railroad EMD GP-9 # 1208, FM H16-44 & another GP-9 lead a westbound manifest freight train in the snow toward SS38 in Stamford, Connecticut, 1968. This was a great image capture by Bob Hughes from his tower SS38 window. Even with low lighting, snow and train movement, he captured a solid image of this train.
Penn Central diesel electric locomotives EMD SW1200 # 9195, ALCO RS3 # 5482 & EMD GP9B # 3808 are seen in the former New Haven Railroad Cedar Hill Yard at New Haven, Connecticut, 1972. In the back ground other locomotives such as EMD GP9's and GE U25B's are seen. The catenary has been long gone since the New Haven Railroad days of the late 1950's and early 1960's, and the yard is just a shadow of itself by this time due to the removal of numerous tracks. Bob Hughes was able to photograph this view I believe from one of the various overhead walkways that were situated in the yard area. Notice that you can clearly see the engineer in the cab of the EMD SW1200 switcher in the bright sunlight. Deep in the background you can see one of the old roundhouses.
97304 “John Tiley,” 37418, and 37099 “Merl Evans” all power past Dolfach on the climb to Talerddig summit on the 6Z71 13:45 return ballast train from Aberystwyth run-round loop to Crewe Basford Hall, following track renewal work near Llanbadarn the previous day. One can only assume the driver thoroughly enjoyed having 5,250hp on tap to climb Talerddig.
