New Haven Railroad DEY-1 ALCO switcher # 0900, is seen in motor storage at New Haven Union Station, New Haven, Connecticut, ca early-mid 19430's. This locomotive was a one of a kind on the New Haven Railroad in that it was originally ALCO demonstrator 50000, that was built in 1931 with 600 hp and a high hood. Seen in the background is an EP-2 motor.
This photo came from my collection of New Haven Railroad negatives, however; the photographers name is unknown.

Seaboard Coast Line local freight train, led by EMD GP35 locomotive 1413, is seen operating on the ex SAL line as it passes over the ex ACL diamond and through the station at Ocala, Florida, 5-29-1978. This was a union station where both the SAL and ACL serviced. Notice that the main line track is all welded rail and check out the dwarf signal on the left. You can see the engineer through his front cab window.

Blue Ridge Southern Railroad EMD SD40-2 locomotive # 4205 & EMD SD39-2 locomotive # 3932 is seen in the yard locomotive service & maintenance area at Canton, North Carolina, 9-16-2022. SD40-2 # 4205 is the only locomotive in the eleven engine fleet that has the railroad's herald centered on its lower hood nose. Watco of Pittsburg Kansas owns this short line railroad. The SD39-2 has the reporting marks "WAMX" which is for the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad, another Watco property. In order to take this photo I had to hold my camera above my head to reach over a chain link fence to capture the scene, but that darn weed bush was in the scene unfortunately.
Penn Central ex New Haven Railroad FM H16-44 locomotive # 5169 & ex Pennsylvania Railroad EMD GP7 locomotive # 5864 are seen in a locomotive service & maintenance area of a yard, early 1970's. It is always nice to see older locomotives being in service at a late especially in respect to the FM engines. In the right side background area you can see a locomotive marked for the New York Central Railroad and others for the PC. Also seen in the background is a locomotive sanding tower. This photo came from an Internet scan. The photo has been cropped and modified from the original to improve its appearance. The original photographer's name is unknown.

I'm stampolina and I love to take photos of stamps. Thanks for visiting this pages on flickr.
I'm neither a typical collector of stamps, nor a stamp dealer. I'm only a stamp photograph. I'm fascinated of the fine close-up structures which are hidden in this small stamp-pictures. Please don't ask of the worth of these stamps - the most ones have a worth of a few cents or still less.
By the way, I wanna say thank you to all flickr users who have sent me stamps! Great! Thank you! Someone sent me 3 or 5 stamps, another one sent me more than 20 stamps in a letter. It's everytime a great surprise for me and I'm everytime happy to get letters with stamps inside from you!
thx, stampolina
For the case you wanna send also stamps - it is possible. (...I'm pretty sure you'll see these stamps on this photostream on flickr :) thx!

Penn Central EMD GP30 locomotive # 2226 with ex New Haven Railroad NH-5 class caboose heads westbound along the electrified main line near tower SS38 at Stamford, Connecticut, 1970. The former New Haven Railroad did not have any GP30 locomotives so this was a new sight to see on the railroad. It is also interesting to note the colored PC mated worm logo used on this locomotive. Bob Hughes captured this image on film under low lighting conditions for all of us to enjoy. Notice the red warning flag at the end of the caboose.

New Haven Railroad ALCO S-2 DEY-5 class # 0609 switcher & Slug DT-1 is seen in the Yard at Hartford, Connecticut, ca mid 1950's. This switcher team of locomotive and slug were used for hump service. The slug was rebuilt for a NHRR EY-3 electric switcher 216 in 1952 by the Van Nest Shop. The slug was and locomotive were both MU equipped for this service to provide the extra tractive effort at low speed that was required to perform the hump duties. Observe the State Of Maine, red, white & blue, box car that is spotted to the left of the locomotive's cab. Box cars from long gone railroads are seen in this view, Southern, Reading, etc.

It has been a long time since we had a look at the O'Dea Collection, today we have a very interesting shot of a mail train in Rathduff. I see a flying snail logo and the words snail and mail come to mind. I dont know about you but I would rather receive a nice letter through the post rather than 100 e-mails!

This day was all about freight transport at the RTM. Various steam and diesel locomotives drove freight trams or passenger trams with freight wagons. The weather was excellent and the trams were again magnificent.
Every year the National Steam Train Day is organized during Ascension Day. We can usually be found at the SGB or the RTM. This time, based on photos I had seen in Facebook, I wanted to go to the VSM. Together with my eldest son we went to Loenen, where we almost had a private show of shunting freight wagons. We spent a large part of the morning at the VSM, after which we went to Zwolle in the afternoon to view the 1700 in service there.

New York Central ALCO FA-1 # 1020 & # 1027 diesel electric locomotives are seen at the Mott Haven Yard in New York City, late 1950's. This is very interesting to see these lightening stripped freight service diesel locomotives in the third rail territory, where normally only DC motors roam. In the distant background you may observe an old NYC "S" motor directly behind the diesel locomotives. Then another old NYC "S" motor is seen behind the diesel locomotive on the right side of the photo.

Every year the MBS organizes an Autumn Stoom Day. This year, the 162 came into action with a recently refurbished boxcar also. There were also some rides with the Wismar railbus. Unfortunately it was raining a lot, although it did add to the atmosphere.

On the night of 6 to 7 February, a snowstorm swept the country. With a code red, all traffic was subsequently disrupted or came to a complete standstill. This is also the case with the railways. Towards the end of the week, train traffic was slowly picking up again and the weather, although still cold, was getting better and better. So a good reason to go out with my oldest son to make some pictures.

Buckingham Branch Railroad (reporting mark BB) is a Class III short-line railroad operating over 275 miles (443 km) of historic and strategic trackage in Central Virginia. Sharing overhead traffic with CSX and Amtrak, the company's headquarters are in Dillwyn, Virginia in the former Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad (C&O) station, itself a historic landmark in the community. The railroad was featured in the January 2012 issue of Trains Magazine. It is referenced in the How It’s Made episode “Railway Bridge Ties”, showing it crossing a curved bridge.
Buckingham Branch Railroads' tracks are located in the heart of Central Virginia. The routing was largely constructed in the 19th century by several railroad companies. These include the Louisa Railroad, the Virginia Central Railroad, the state-owned Blue Ridge Railroad (with famous tunnels designed by state engineer Claudius Crozet and financed by the Virginia Board of Public Works), and the Covington and Ohio Railroad. All of those lines became part of Collis Huntington's Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad (C&O) in the 1870s, which connected the Chesapeake Bay with the valleys of the New River and Kanawha River, leading to the Ohio River Valley and thence the Mississippi River.
