Hiding inside the overgrown waterworks building I posted a photo of yesterday is this hulking contraption, which a fellow explorer has ID'd as an antique diesel engine, no doubt for pumping water.

New Haven Railroad DER-1c class ALCO DL-109 0717 & 0714 diesel electric locomotives, with a passenger train that is operating on the Shore Line, is seen while stopped at the station in Saybrook, Connecticut, ca 1950. It appears that some baggage or express is being handled and also that a number of passengers are seen on the platform further back in the train. You can see the fireman in his cab window.

Samen met mijn zoon zijn we twee dagen naar de MBS Najaarsstoomdagen geweest. Dit jaar reed, naast de Wismar railbus, de Magda en Kikker, de ELNA 152 in het zwart weer mee. Ook de gastloc SHM 6513 kwam in actie. De twee locjes MBS 12 Rij-ijzer, 't Gekje' en MBS 10 'Nijverdal' mochten een ritje naar Zoutindustrie maken. Helaas raakte daarbij Rij-ijzer defect en moest teruggesleept worden door de ELNA. Op zaterdagavond werd er een night shooting georganiseerd, wat in mijn ogen wel een hoogtepunt was van het weekend. Zeker later op de avond, waren wij nog de enigen op het depot en konden we nog vele mooie plaatjes schieten.

My son and I went to the MBS Autumn Steam Days for two days. This year, in addition to the Wismar railbus, the Magda, and the Kikker, the ELNA 152, all black, was also participating. Mein Sohn und ich besuchten zwei Tage lang die MBS Herbstdampftage. Dieses Jahr war neben dem Wismarer Schienenbus, der Magda und der Kikker auch die komplett schwarze ELNA 152 dabei. Die Gastlokomotive SHM 6513 war ebenfalls im Einsatz. Die beiden Lokomotiven MBS 12 Rij-ijzer, 't Gekje' und MBS 10 'Nijverdal' unternahmen eine Fahrt nach Zoutindustrie. Leider hatte Rij-ijzer eine Panne und musste von der ELNA zurückgeschleppt werden. Am Samstagabend fand ein Nachtfotoshooting statt, das meiner Meinung nach ein Höhepunkt des Wochenendes war. Vor allem später am Abend waren wir die Einzigen im Depot und konnten viele schöne Fotos machen.

Dit jaar ben ik weer met mijn beide zonen en mijn vader naar Terug naar Toen van de VSM geweest. En natuurlijk stonden er natuurlijk weer veel locs onder stoom. Dit jaar was de 23 023 van de SSN weer te gast en werd er een line-up van de drie rijvaardige 23ers georganiseerd. De gebruikelijke goederentreinen tussen Beekbergen en Apeldoorn reden dit jaar alleen in de ochtend. Dus daar lag in de ochtend de focus op. In de middag werd vooral rondom Loenen doorgebracht. Het was weer een schitterend spektakel met prachtig weer.

Dieses Jahr bin ich mit meinen beiden Söhnen und mein Vater nach Zurück nach Damals der VSM gefahren. Und natürlich waren wieder viele Loks unter Dampf. In diesem Jahr war der 23 023 der SSN zu Gast und eine Aufstellung der drei fahrenden 23er wurde organisiert. Die üblichen Dampf Güterzüge zwischen Beekbergen und Apeldoorn liefen dieses Jahr nur am Morgen. Das war der Fokus am Morgen. Am Nachmittag wurde hauptsächlich um Loenen herum verbracht. Es war wieder ein großartiges Spektakel mit schönem Wetter.

This year my both sons, my father and I went the event "Terug naar Toen (Back to then) by the VSM. And of course, many locs were under steam again. This year the SSN's 23 023 was guest locomotive and a line-up of the three running 23ers was organized. The usual steam goods trains between Beekbergen and Apeldoorn were only running in the morning this year. So that was the focus for the morning. In the afternoon we mainly spend our time around Loenen. Again it was a magnificent spectacle with beautiful weather.

Dit jaar was de ZLSM aanwezig met hun twee locs 1040 en 1289. Daarnaast was ook de VSM TKp23 rijvaardig en reed diverse treinen.

Die Veluwse Stoomtrein Maatschappij (VSM) veranstaltet jedes Jahr am ersten Septemberwochenende ihre Veranstaltung „Terug naar Toen“ (Zurück in die Vergangenheit). Dieses Mal war ich mit meinen beiden kleinen Söhnen dort. Die ZLSM war mit ihren beiden Lokomotiven 1040 und 1289 vertreten. Außerdem war die VSM TKp23 betriebsbereit und zog verschiedene Züge.

In 1908 werd de eerste Elektrische spoorlijn in Nederland in gebruik genomen. Deze spoorlijn verbond Rotterdam Hofplein en Scheveningen Kurhaus. De spoorlijn werd geëxploiteerd door de ZHESM (Zuid Hollandse Elektrische Spoorweg Maatschappij).

In Leidschendam werd een werkplaats gebouwd, waar materieel onderhouden werd. Deze werkplaats bestaat nog steeds en vierde op 13 december 2008 haar 100 jarig bestaan. divers materieel werd tentoongesteld, waaronder het, helaas de dag daarop bij rangeerwerkzaamheden beschadigde, stel 419.

In 1908 the first electric railway line in the Netherlands was put into use. This railway line connected Rotterdam Hofplein and Scheveningen Kurhaus. The railway line was operated by the ZHESM (South Holland Electric Railway Company).

A workshop was built in Leidschendam, where the trains were maintained. This workshop still exists and celebrated its 100th anniversary on December 13th 2008. Various trains were exhibited, including the set 419, which was unfortunately damaged the following day during shunting work.

'Sporen naar het Verleden'is het jaarlijkse evenement bij de SGB. Diverse eigen locomotieven vaak ook gast materieel is aanwezig om dit evenement op te luisteren. Dit jaar was de 'Blauwe Engel' van het spoorwegmuseum aanwezig. Dit dieseltreinstel is vernoemd naar Marlene Dietrich, die op het moment dat het voor het eerst in Nederland op de rails kwam, wereldberoemd was.

Diverse treinen reden tussen Goes en Hoedekenskerke. Natuurlijk veel gefotografeerd langs het spoor, maar een ritje in de Blauwe Engel en de stoomtrein kon natuurlijk ook niet achter blijven. Verder hebben de kinderen zich uitstekend vermaakt in de speeltuin. Het was een geslaagde dag uit voor de hele familie.

'Tracks to the past' is the annual event at the SGB. Various own locomotives and often also guest locomotives are present to liven up this event. This year the 'Blue Angel' of the Dutch railway museum was present. This diesel train set is named after Marlene Dietrich, who was world famous when this train got into service in the Netherlands.

Several trains ran between Goes and Hoedekenskerke. Of course I made a lot photographs along the track, but a ride in the Blue Angel and the steam train could not be left behind. Furthermore, the children had a great time in the playground. It was a nice day out for the whole family.

'Spuren in die Vergangenheit' ist die jährliche Veranstaltung der SGB. Verschiedene eigene Lokomotiven, oft auch Gast Züge, verleihen dieser Veranstaltung Glanz. In diesem Jahr war der 'Blaue Engel' des Eisenbahnmuseums anwesend. Dieses Dieselzugset ist nach Marlene Dietrich benannt, die weltberühmt war, als es in den Niederlanden zum ersten Mal auf die Schienen kam.

Mehrere Züge fuhren zwischen Goes und Hoedekenskerke. Natürlich habe ich viele Fotos entlang der Strecke gemacht, aber eine Fahrt mit dem Blauen Engel und dem Dampfzug konnte auch nicht zurückgelassen werden. Außerdem hatten die Kinder eine tolle Zeit auf dem Spielplatz. Es war ein erfolgreicher Tag für die ganze Familie.

New Haven Railroad DERS-2b ALCO RS-2 road switcher # 0509, is seen while leading a consist of Pullman Standard post war lightweight stainless steel passenger cars, as it crosses the Cape Cod Bridge, in Massachusetts, late 1950's. Elk jaar wordt met Hemelvaart de Nationale Stoomtreindag georganiseerd. Sinds twee jaar gaan we juist dan naar de VSM. Dit omdat er dan de hele dag gependeld wordt met een goederentrein met diesellocomotief. Vorig jaar was dit de 2530, dit jaar 'bakkie' 532. Samen met mijn oudste zoon ook dit jaar eerst op pad naar Loenen, waar we bijna een privé showtje goederenwagens rangeren hadden. En de rest van de dag hebben we langs de lijn of in Beekbergen, Loenen en Eerbeek doorgebracht, waarbij de nadruk lag op de 532 met de goederentrein.

Every year, National Steam Train Day is held on Ascension Day. For the past two years, we've been going to the VSM on that day. This is because there's a freight train with a diesel locomotive running all day. Last year it was the 2530, this year it was the 532. My eldest son and I headed to Loenen again this year, where we practically had a private show shunting freight wagons. We spent the rest of the day along the line or in Beekbergen, Loenen, and Eerbeek, focusing on the 532 and its freight train.

Der Nationale Dampfloktag findet jedes Jahr am Himmelfahrtstag statt. Die letzten zwei Jahre haben wir an diesem Tag die VSM besucht. Dort fährt nämlich den ganzen Tag ein Güterzug mit einer Diesellokomotive. Letztes Jahr war es die 2530, dieses Jahr die 532. Mein ältester Sohn und ich fuhren auch dieses Jahr wieder nach Loenen, wo wir beim Rangieren der Güterwagen quasi eine Privatvorführung hatten. Den Rest des Tages verbrachten wir entlang der Strecke oder in Beekbergen, Loenen und Eerbeek und konzentrierten uns dabei auf die 532 und ihren Güterzug.

Together with my eldest son we went to Loenen, where we almost had a private show of shunting freight wagons. We spent a large part of the morning at the VSM, after which we went to Zwolle in the afternoon to view the 1700 in service there.

Diesmal wollte ich, basierend auf Fotos, die ich auf Facebook gesehen hatte, zum VSM gehen. Zusammen mit meinem ältesten Sohn fuhren wir nach Loenen, wo wir fast eine Privatschau von Rangiergüterwagen hatten. Wir verbrachten den größten Teil des Vormittags im VSM und fuhren dann am Nachmittag nach Zwolle, um den dort im Einsatz befindlichen 1700 zu besichtigen.

Ook maakten de omC 909 en 910 enkele ritten. Dit jaar besteedden we vooral aandacht aan de omC 909 en 910. Het was weer een erg geslaagd evenement.

This year I went to the annual event 'Traces to the past' with my two sons. In addition to our own locomotive 4389, steam locomotive 5 'Enkhuizen' of the SHM, 23 023 of the SSN and Crew 2454 with their 2454, Mat '64 set 904 and mP 3029 were present this year. The OMC 909 and 910 also made a few journeys. This year we paid particular attention to the OMC 909 and 910. It was another very successful event.

Dieses Jahr war ich mit meinen beiden Söhnen bei der jährlichen Veranstaltung „Spuren in die Vergangenheit“. Neben unserer eigenen Lokomotive 4389 waren in diesem Jahr auch die Dampflokomotive 5 'Enkhuizen' der SHM, 23 023 der SSN und die Besatzung 2454 mit ihrer 2454, Mat '64 Set 904 und mP 3029 anwesend. Auch die OMC 909 und 910 machten einige Fahrten. Besonderes Augenmerk haben wir in diesem Jahr auf die OMC 909 und 910 gelegt. Es war wieder eine sehr erfolgreiche Veranstaltung.

New Haven Railroad DER-3a class ALCO PA-1 # diesel electric locomotive # 0778, along with a second PA-1, is seen wearing the McGinnis paint scheme while spotted on a service track in the Cedar Hill Yard, New Haven, Connecticut, Winter early 1960's. New Haven Railroad ALCO PA-1 diesel locomotive # 0773 and a FM C-Liner lead a stop westbound passenger train at a station platform in Providence, Rhode Island, ca Mid 1950's. In this station scene you can also see a portion of the downtown area and what appears to be another train on the far right side. The Providence station was always interesting with its curved platform tracks and quit a few very good photo's were taken there over the years.

Conrail EMD SW1500 switcher # 9584 is working a long cut of freight cars in yard along side a portion of the Juniata Shops at Altoona, Pennsylvania, November 1995. The first block of cars behind the switcher appear to be covered wire or coil hauling cars. This photo was taken on an overcast and rainy day without very good lightening. There was always constant freight train action seen in this yard along with a number of Amtrak trains passing through to the station. At the large shop facility numerous locomotives were rebuilt, re-manufactured, refurbished or built new from kits. Over by the shop facility buildings are lines of EMD and GE locomotives to be shopped. The main line through tracks are situated under the block signal to the left of the switcher and its cars.

Deze dag stond in het teken van goederenvervoer bij de RTM. Diverse stoom en diesellocs reden goederentrams of personentrams met goederenwagens. Het weer was uitstekend en de trams weer schitterend.

This day was all about freight transport at the RTM. Various steam and diesel locomotives drove freight trams or passenger trams with freight wagons. The weather was excellent and the trams were again magnificent.

Dieser Tag stand im RTM ganz im Zeichen des Gütertransports. Verschiedene Dampf- und Diesellokomotiven trieben Güterstraßenbahnen bzw. Personenstraßenbahnen mit Güterwagen an. Das Wetter war ausgezeichnet und die Straßenbahnen waren wieder wunderschön.

Door Corona en familieomstandigheden, waren we niet in staat om bij Plandampf in het Werratal te zijn. Maar na zoveel jaar kruipt het bloed toch waar het niet gaan kan. Daarom besloten mijn vader, mijn oudste zoon en ik in de meivakantie naar het voormalige Oost-Duitsland af te reizen om daar te genieten van smalspoor stoom.

Nadat we twee dagen de Zittauer Schmalspurbahn hadden bezocht, gingen we door naar Dresden. Daar werd als eerste de Lössnitzgrundbahn bezocht, gevolgd door de Weißeritztalbahn. En tenslotte werd de Fichtelbergbahn bezocht. Onderweg nog een bezoekje gebracht aan het station museum Schlettau, waar we in 1992 nog rondgelopen hebben tijdens Plandampf rondom Aue

Due to Corona and family circumstances, we were unable to join Plandampf in the Werratal. But after so many years, the blood creeps where it can't go. That is why my father, my eldest son and I decided to travel to the former East Germany during the May holidays, to enjoy narrow-gauge steam.

After visiting the Zittau Narrow Gauge Railway for two days, we continued to Dresden. The Lössnitzgrundbahn was the first to be visited there, followed by the Weißeritztalbahn. And finally we visited the Fichtelbergbahn. On teh way up there, we visited the museum station Schlettau. Last time we were here was during Plandampf in and around Aue in 1992.

Aufgrund von Corona und familiären Umständen konnten wir leider nicht bei Plandampf im Werratal sein. Aber nach so vielen Jahren kriecht das Blut dahin, wo es nicht hin kann. Deshalb haben mein Vater, mein ältester Sohn und ich beschlossen, in den Maiferien in die ehemaligen DDR zu reisen, um Schmalspurdampf zu genießen.

Nach einem zweitägigen Besuch der Zittauer Schmalspurbahn ging es weiter nach Dresden. Als erstes wurde dort die Lössnitzgrundbahn besichtigt, gefolgt von der Weißeritztalbahn. Und zuletzt besuchten wir die Fichtelbergbahn. Auf den Farht nach Cranzahl haben wir noch das Bahnhof Museum von Schlettau besucht. Hier waren wir in 1992 während den Plandampf Vernastaltung rundum Aue.

418 163 hat zusätzlich zu seinem Zug noch eine V43 zur Überführung nach Békéscsaba bekommen. Hier hat der Zug gerade Hódmezővásárhely verlassen.

The PA-1 is wearing the early McGinnis paint scheme, but soon after the first three locomotives were painted in this manner the rest that were painted received the reverse paint scheme. It is much better to be aboard this warm train than to be on the outside battling the elements. You couldn't get in much better than this with the red nose PA-1, the red block signals and the red trailer all seen in the snow. As typical the ALCO's are departing with a good cloud of black smoke trailing.

In mijn jongere jaren trok ik er wat regelmatiger op uit, als ik een vrije dag had, of als er een speciale rit of evenement op het programma stond. In die tijd fotografeerde ik voornamelijk met dia-rolletjes, die ik nu in aan het scannen ben en aan het bewerken ben (oplichten, vuil verwijderen, verscherpen) om ze weer toonbaar te maken.

Deze keer was ik op pad gegaan naar Moordrecht om daar de 'Rijnmond expres' met de SNCF 141 R 420 vast te leggen. Maar natuurlijk werd ook het 'dagelijkse' materieel vastgelegd.

When I was younger, I used to get out a little more regularly, when I had a day off, or when there was a special ride or event planned. At that time I mainly photographed with colour slide rolls, which I am now scanning and editing (lightening, removing dirt, sharpening) to make them acceptable again.

This time I went to Moordrecht to make some pictures of the 'Rijnmond Expres' pulled by the SNCF 141 R 420. But while waiting for this train, I made some pictures of the regular trains also.

Als ich jünger war, bin ich regelmäßiger

rausgezogen, wenn ich einen freien Tag hatte oder wenn eine besondere Fahrt oder Veranstaltung geplant war. Ich habe damals hauptsächlich mit Diarollen fotografiert, die ich jetzt scanne und bearbeite (aufhellen, Schmutz entfernen, schärfen), um sie wieder ansehbar zu machen.

Diesmal bin ich nach Moordrecht gefahren, um den 'Rijnmond Express' mit der SNCF 141 R 420 zu fotografieren. Aber natürlich wurde auch die „tägliche“ Züge erfasst.

Door Corona en familieomstandigheden, waren we niet in staat om bij Plandampf in het Werratal te zijn. Maar na zoveel jaar kruipt het bloed toch waar het niet gaan kan. Daarom besloten mijn vader, mijn oudste zoon en ik in de meivakantie naar het voormalige Oost-Duitsland af te reizen om daar te genieten van smalspoor stoom.

Nadat we twee dagen de Zittauer Schmalspurbahn hadden bezocht, gingen we door naar Dresden. Daar werd als eerste de Lössnitzgrundbahn bezocht, gevolgd door de Weißeritztalbahn. En tenslotte werd de Fichtelbergbahn bezocht. Na deze Saksische smalspoorlijnen gingen we naar de Harz, waar de HSB werd bezocht. Deze dag was er ook een afscheidsrit georganiseerd van de Mallet locs (99 5906), maar daar hadden we geen dienstregeling van. Hoe dan ook, onderweg in het Selkethal en de tussen Nordhausen en Wernigerode zijn we deze loc enkele keren tegengekomen, naast de 99 6001. de 99 234 en de 99 7245.

Due to Corona and family circumstances, we were unable to join Plandampf in the Werratal. But after so many years, the blood creeps where it can't go. That is why my father, my eldest son and I decided to travel to the former East Germany during the May holidays, to enjoy narrow-gauge steam.

After visiting the Zittau Narrow Gauge Railway for two days, we continued to Dresden. The Lössnitzgrundbahn was the first to be visited there, followed by the Weißeritztalbahn. And finally we visited the Fichtelbergbahn. After these Saxon narrow-gauge lines we went to the Harz, where the HSB was visited. This day there was also a farewell ride organized for the Mallet locomotives (99 5906), but we had no timetable for that. Anyway, along the way in the Selkethal and between Nordhausen and Wernigerode we encountered this locomotive several times, next to the 99 6001, the 99 234 and the 99 7245.

Aufgrund von Corona und familiären Umständen konnten wir leider nicht bei Plandampf im Werratal sein. Aber nach so vielen Jahren kriecht das Blut dahin, wo es nicht hin kann. Deshalb haben mein Vater, mein ältester Sohn und ich beschlossen, in den Maiferien in die ehemaligen DDR zu reisen, um Schmalspurdampf zu genießen.

Nach einem zweitägigen Besuch der Zittauer Schmalspurbahn ging es weiter nach Dresden. Als erstes wurde dort die Lössnitzgrundbahn besichtigt, gefolgt von der Weißeritztalbahn. Und zuletzt besuchten wir die Fichtelbergbahn. Nach diesen sächsischen Schmalspurstrecken ging es in den Harz, wo die HSB besichtigt wurde. An diesem Tag wurde auch eine Abschiedsfahrt für die Mallet-Lokomotiven (99 5906) organisiert, für die wir jedoch keinen Fahrplan hatten. Unterwegs im Selkethal und zwischen Nordhausen und Wernigerode begegneten wir dieser Lokomotive jedenfalls mehrmals, neben der 99 6001, der 99 234 und der 99 7245.

Na een lange tussenpoos, o.a. vanwege Corona, bezochten we in 2022 weer de RTM. Deze dag werden diverse gemengde trams met stoom en diesel gereden. Natuurlijk stond de lus in de duinen bij De Punt op het lijstje van fotopunten, maar ook diverse plaatsen langs de lijn werden bezocht.

After a long interval, partly due to Corona, we visited the RTM again in 2022. This day several mixed trams with steam and diesel were driven. Of course the loop in the dunes at De Punt was on the list of photo points, but various places along the line were also visited.

Nach langer, unter anderem Corona-bedingter Pause, besuchten wir 2022 erneut das RTM. An diesem Tag fuhren mehrere gemischte Straßenbahnen mit Dampf und Diesel. Natürlich stand die Schleife in den Dünen bei De Punt auf der Liste der Fotopunkte, aber auch verschiedene Orte entlang der Strecke wurden besucht.

Elk jaar wordt met Hemelvaart de Nationale Stoomtreindag georganiseerd. Meestal zijn we dan bij de SGB of de RTM te vinden. Dit keer wilde ik, naar aanleiding van foto's die ik in Fb had gezien, eens naar de VSM. Samen met mijn oudste zoon op pad naar Loenen, waar we bijna een privé showtje goederenwagens rangeren hadden. Een groot deel van de ochtend hebben we bij de VSM doorgebracht, waarna we in de middag naar Zwolle zijn gegaan om daar nog de 1700 in dienst te bekijken.

Every year the National Steam Train Day is organized during Ascension Day. We can usually be found at the SGB or the RTM. This time, based on photos I had seen in Facebook, I wanted to go to the VSM. Together with my eldest son we went to Loenen, where we almost had a private show of shunting freight wagons. We spent a large part of the morning at the VSM, after which we went to Zwolle in the afternoon to view the 1700 in service there.

Jedes Jahr wird am Himmelfahrtstag der Nationale Dampfzugtag organisiert. In der Regel sind wir beim SGB oder beim RTM zu finden. Diesmal wollte ich, basierend auf Fotos, die ich auf Facebook gesehen hatte, zum VSM gehen. Zusammen mit meinem ältesten Sohn fuhren wir nach Loenen, wo wir fast eine Privatschau von Rangiergüterwagen hatten. Wir verbrachten den größten Teil des Vormittags im VSM und fuhren dann am Nachmittag nach Zwolle, um den dort im Einsatz befindlichen 1700 zu besichtigen.

Dit omdat er dan de hele dag gependeld wordt met een goederentrein met diesellocomotief. Vorig jaar was dit de 2530, dit jaar 'bakkie' 532. Samen met mijn oudste zoon ook dit jaar eerst op pad naar Loenen, waar we bijna een privé showtje goederenwagens rangeren hadden. En de rest van de dag hebben we langs de lijn of in Beekbergen, Loenen en Eerbeek doorgebracht, waarbij de nadruk lag op de 532 met de goederentrein.

Every year, National Steam Train Day is held on Ascension Day. For the past two years, we've been going to the VSM on that day. This is because there's a freight train with a diesel locomotive running all day. Last year it was the 2530, this year it was the 532. My eldest son and I headed to Loenen again this year, where we practically had a private show shunting freight wagons. We spent the rest of the day along the line or in Beekbergen, Loenen, and Eerbeek, focusing on the 532 and its freight train.

Der Nationale Dampfloktag findet jedes Jahr am Himmelfahrtstag statt. Die letzten zwei Jahre haben wir an diesem Tag die VSM besucht. Dort fährt nämlich den ganzen Tag ein Güterzug mit einer Diesellokomotive. Letztes Jahr war es die 2530, dieses Jahr die 532. Mein ältester Sohn und ich fuhren auch dieses Jahr wieder nach Loenen, wo wir beim Rangieren der Güterwagen quasi eine Privatvorführung hatten. Den Rest des Tages verbrachten wir entlang der Strecke oder in Beekbergen, Loenen und Eerbeek und konzentrierten uns dabei auf die 532 und ihren Güterzug.

New Haven Railroad ALCO S-2 diesel electric switcher # 0609 and slug DT-1 are assigned to hump duties at the Hartford Yard, Connecticut, ca mid-late 1950's. This switcher and slug combination started work in 1952 and was used until the early 1960's in Hartford. In the left side background is a State of Maine box car.

New Haven Railroad DER-1c class ALCO DL-109 locomotive 0703 is "Condemned" and is spotted on a siding at an unknown location in Pennsylvania, ca 1960. Unfortunately this locomotive is heading to be scrapped, and it is among my favorite diesel electric locomotives.

Voorheen kwamen we regelmatig naar de ZLSM voor de stoomtreindagen. Helaas zijn die enkele jaren niet meer gehouden. Maar in 2023 was het gelukkig weer zover. De eigen 1040 reed onder stoom samen met de HSIJ 22 'Tom' en HSIJ 57 ' Bonne'. Ook stichting Crew 2454 met de 2454 en de mP 3029, de SMMR 2225, de SHD 2205 en De Karel stel 466 waren aanwezig. De SSN kwam met de 01 1075 en 23 023 met een extra rit langs. Er reden veel personentreinen, maar ook enkele goederentreinen voor de fotografen. Een erg geslaagd evenement op een schitterende dag.

We used to come to the ZLSM regularly for the steam train days. Unfortunately, they were not held for a few years. But in 2023 it was fortunately time again. Their own 1040 ran under steam together with the HSIJ 22 'Tom' and HSIJ 57 'Bonne'. Stichting Crew 2454 with the 2454 and the mP 3029, the SMMR 2225, the SHD 2205 and De Karel set 466 were also present. The SSN came along with the 01 1075 and 23 023 with an extra train from Rotterdam. Many passenger trains ran, but also some freight trains were scheduled for the photographers. A very successful event on a beautiful day.

Wir kamen regelmäßig zu den Dampfzugtagen der ZLSM. Leider haben sie mehreren Jahren nicht mehr stattgefunden. Aber glücklicherweise ist es 2023 erneut organisiert. Die eigene 1040 fuhr zusammen mit der HSIJ 22 „Tom“ und der HSIJ 57 „Bonne“ unter Dampf. Ebenfalls anwesend waren die Crew 2454 Foundation mit der 2454 und der mP 3029, die SMMR 2225, die SHD 2205 und das De Karel Set 466. Die SSN kam mit der 01 1075 und 23 023 mit einer Sonderfahrt aus Rotterdam. Es waren viele Personenzüge, aber auch einige Güterzüge für die Fotografen da. Eine sehr gelungene Veranstaltung an einem wunderschönen Tag.

The paint job on Utah Railway 6062 is only about a month old and looks like it's radioactive. That won't last long. 6061 behind it is the last unit in Utah Railway gray left on the railroad.

Norfolk Southern #5290 GP38-2 sits off line in Morrisville Yard PA

New Haven Railroad DERS-1b class Alco RS-1 locomotive 0664 is seen in the yard at Braintree, Massachusetts, July 24, 1957. This locomotive is wearing the McGinnis paint scheme. It was always great to hear these locomotives when operating, because their deep sounding 6 cylinder ALCO 539-T prime mover made such an interseting sound with the chirping away of their turbo-chargers.

Penn Central EMD F7A # 1840, cabless GP9B # 3815 & F7A # 1758, as seen from tower SS38 by Bob Hughes with his camera, lead an eastbound manifest freight train under wire on a former New Haven Railroad express track through Stamford, Connecticut, summer 1973. Evidently to the PC black was beautiful, because they seemed in time to paint most of their locomotives in the plain black paint scheme. It appears that the leading F7A is receiving its air conditioning with the use of an open front cab nose door and with air passing through the cab windows. This locomotive consist makes for an interesting combination.
