Dat was duidelijk te merken aan de hoeveelheden toeschouwers en fotografen langs de lijn ; ) In actie kwamen naast de 41 241, ook de 44 1593, 50 307, 52 3879, 50 3654, 65 018, 23 071, 64 415, 2459, 2530 en de SSN 01 1075. Samen met mijn oudste zoon langs de lijn en op het depot doorgebracht. Het was schitterend weer; 's ochtends mist en later veel zon, maar daardoor helaas minder stoomontwikkeling. Weer een geslaagde dag uit.

Im Jahr 2023 wurde 'Zurück nach Damals' erneut vom Veluwse Stoomtrein Maatschappij (VSM) organisiert. Der Höhepunkt in diesem Jahr war die Wiederinbetriebnahme der 41 241. Dies war deutlich an der Zahl der Zuschauer und Fotografen entlang der Strecke zu erkennen; ) Neben der 41 241 waren auch die 44 1593, 50 307, 52 3879, 50 3654, 65 018, 23 071, 64 415, 2459, 2530 und die SSN 01 1075 im Einsatz. Das Wetter war wunderschön; Morgens Nebel und später viel Sonne, aber leider weniger Dampfentwicklung. Ein weiterer erfolgreicher Ausflugstag.

Main rail line connecting Kerala with Tamil Nadu runs through southern boundary of our University Campus. Both ways put together nearly 100 trains, passenger and goods included, pass through this on any day. Howling sound of diesel engines and honking of train waiting for signal is common throughout day and night.

Elk jaar wordt met Hemelvaart de Nationale Stoomtreindag georganiseerd. Meestal zijn we dan bij de SGB of de RTM te vinden. Dit keer wilde ik, naar aanleiding van foto's die ik in Fb had gezien, eens naar de VSM. Samen met mijn oudste zoon op pad naar Loenen, waar we bijna een privé showtje goederenwagens rangeren hadden. Een groot deel van de ochtend hebben we bij de VSM doorgebracht, waarna we in de middag naar Zwolle zijn gegaan om daar nog de 1700 in dienst te bekijken.

Every year the National Steam Train Day is organized during Ascension Day. We can usually be found at the SGB or the RTM. This time, based on photos I had seen in Facebook, I wanted to go to the VSM. Together with my eldest son we went to Loenen, where we almost had a private show of shunting freight wagons. We spent a large part of the morning at the VSM, after which we went to Zwolle in the afternoon to view the 1700 in service there.

Blue Ridge Southern Railroad EMD SD40M-2 locomotive # 4202 is seen in the maintenance & service area of the yard at Canton, North Carolina, 9-16-2022. Notice the SD45 style flared radiator sections installed in this locomotive. The white steel structure to the right is the support for the sanding tower. Penn Central ALCO RS-3 # 5589 (former New Haven) is seen while leading a local freight train in the Cedar Hill Yard at New Haven, Connecticut, 1971. It is nice to see a red caboose at the end of this short train. It appears that the PC did little more than the New Haven Railroad in their last days to clean up the trash in the Cedar Hill Yard area. The catenary that was previously in the yard was removed by the New Haven Railroad some time back prior to the PC's arrival.

Dit jaar reden de stoomlocs 7853 'Navizence', 2 'Cockerill', 6 'Magda', 8107 'Kikker', diesellocs 259 en 451 en MBS 25, Wismar Railbus KDH T1 diverse slagen tussen Haaksbergen en Boekelo.

Together with my eldest son we went out early for the MBS Autumn Steam Day. It was a beautiful, sunny day. This year the steam locomotives 7853 'Navizence', 2 'Cockerill', 6 'Magda', 8107 'Kikker', diesel locomotives 259 and 451 and MBS 25, Wismar Railbus KDH T1 drove various rounds between Haaksbergen and Boekelo.

Zusammen mit meinem ältesten Sohn machten wir uns früh auf den Weg zum MBS Autumn Steam Day. Es war ein wunderschöner, sonniger Tag. No. 7 Chattenden is six-coupled machine was built by E. E. Baguley at Burton-on-Trent in 1949 to the order of the Drewry Car Company and is now fitted with a Gardner engine developing 150 h.p. Originally it worked on the Admiralty’s Upnor and Lodge Hill Railway then later transferred to Broughton Moor, Cumbria. Capable of working passenger trains in an emergency, the locomotive is normally used for the heavier civil engineering works trains.

Nach langer, unter anderem Corona-bedingter Pause, besuchten wir 2022 erneut das RTM. An diesem Tag fuhren mehrere gemischte Straßenbahnen mit Dampf und Diesel. Natürlich stand die Schleife in den Dünen bei De Punt auf der Liste der Fotopunkte, aber auch verschiedene Orte entlang der Strecke wurden besucht.

'Sporen naar het Verleden'is het jaarlijkse evenement bij de SGB. Diverse eigen locomotieven vaak ook gast materieel is aanwezig om dit evenement op te luisteren. Dit jaar was de 'Blauwe Engel' van het spoorwegmuseum aanwezig. Dit dieseltreinstel is vernoemd naar Marlene Dietrich, die op het moment dat het voor het eerst in Nederland op de rails kwam, wereldberoemd was.

Diverse treinen reden tussen Goes en Hoedekenskerke. Natuurlijk veel gefotografeerd langs het spoor, maar een ritje in de Blauwe Engel en de stoomtrein kon natuurlijk ook niet achter blijven. Verder hebben de kinderen zich uitstekend vermaakt in de speeltuin. Het was een geslaagde dag uit voor de hele familie.

'Tracks to the past' is the annual event at the SGB. Various own locomotives and often also guest locomotives are present to liven up this event. This year the 'Blue Angel' of the Dutch railway museum was present. This diesel train set is named after Marlene Dietrich, who was world famous when this train got into service in the Netherlands.

Several trains ran between Goes and Hoedekenskerke. Of course I made a lot photographs along the track, but a ride in the Blue Angel and the steam train could not be left behind. Furthermore, the children had a great time in the playground. It was a nice day out for the whole family.

'Spuren in die Vergangenheit' ist die jährliche Veranstaltung der SGB. Verschiedene eigene Lokomotiven, oft auch Gast Züge, verleihen dieser Veranstaltung Glanz. In diesem Jahr war der 'Blaue Engel' des Eisenbahnmuseums anwesend. Dieses Dieselzugset ist nach Marlene Dietrich benannt, die weltberühmt war, als es in den Niederlanden zum ersten Mal auf die Schienen kam.

Mehrere Züge fuhren zwischen Goes und Hoedekenskerke. Natürlich habe ich viele Fotos entlang der Strecke gemacht, aber eine Fahrt mit dem Blauen Engel und dem Dampfzug konnte auch nicht zurückgelassen werden. Außerdem hatten die Kinder eine tolle Zeit auf dem Spielplatz. Es war ein erfolgreicher Tag für die ganze Familie.

Denver & Rio Grande Western westbound Rio Grande Zephyr operating on the main line is seen while passing through a canyon as it crosses a bridge over the Gunnison River in Colorado, Summer 1980. When riding this train you pass through very interesting territory with many sights and locations that could not normally be seen unless you were on foot or riding the train. At certain locations there are highways that are nearby where you could gain access to the various areas where the train operates, but then again in others that is not the case.

Marshall: a British firm founded in 1848. Operating from Britannia Works, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, they produced steam traction engines, steam rollers, etc but by 1900 steam was superceded by the internal combustion models like the Colonial, but, by 1944, diesel tractors like the Field Marshall were king.

Deze dag stond in het teken van goederenvervoer bij de RTM. Diverse stoom en diesellocs reden goederentrams of personentrams met goederenwagens. Het weer was uitstekend en de trams weer schitterend.

This day was all about freight transport at the RTM. Various steam and diesel locomotives drove freight trams or passenger trams with freight wagons. The weather was excellent and the trams were again magnificent.

Dieser Tag stand im RTM ganz im Zeichen des Gütertransports. Verschiedene Dampf- und Diesellokomotiven trieben Güterstraßenbahnen bzw. Personenstraßenbahnen mit Güterwagen an. Das Wetter war ausgezeichnet und die Straßenbahnen waren wieder wunderschön.

L&NE ALCO ABA lash-up with FA-1 # 707 seen as it leads a manifest freight train around a main line curve to Maybrook, New York, ca 1950. You can see the engineer through the front cab window. When observing these L&NE locomotives in color the front end stands out with the red ball herald against the black and white car-body paint scheme.

Penn Central former New Haven Railroad DERS-1b class ALCO RS-1 locomotive 9942 is seen in an unknown yard area, November 1969. This ALCO RS-1 is one of the few former NH RS-1 locomotives that made it into the Penn Central system, but they did not last very long in further service.

Norfolk Southern operated N&W J-class steam locomotive # 611 led Railfan Excursion Train is stopped on a double ended siding while a southbound TOFC freight train is led by long hood forward EMD GP30 diesel locomotive # 2550 in Tennessee, October 1989. Railfan photographers are seen with their heads and cameras sticking out of the passenger car dutch doors. The Railfan Excursion Train is on its way to Oneida, Tennessee, where it will be serviced and turned for its return trip to Chattanooga. This main line was a former Southern Railway property.

In de zomervakantie van 2023 moesten mijn vrouw en ik wegens familie omstandigheden halsoverkop naar Aberdeen, Schotland. Tijdens een van de laatste dagen daar, bleek de Caledonian Railway een speciaal evenement te hebben; de Caledonian Railway Sulzer Diesel Gala. Diverse door diesellocomotieven getrokken treinen reden tussen Brechin en Bridge of Dun. Op diverse plekken langs de lijn heb ik gefotografeerd en natuurlijk ook zelf weer een ritje gemaakt. Toch nog een geslaagde dag geweest.

During the summer holidays of 2023, my wife and I had to rush to Aberdeen, Scotland, due to family circumstances. During one of the last days there, the Caledonian Railway turned out to be having a special event; the Caledonian Railway Sulzer Diesel Gala. Several diesel locomotive-hauled trains ran between Brechin and Bridge of Dun. I took photographs at various places along the line and of course also went for a ride myself. Still a successful day.

Während der Sommerferien 2023 mussten meine Frau und ich aus familiären Gründen eilig nach Aberdeen, Schottland, reisen. An einem der letzten Tage dort hatte die Caledonian Railway ein besonderes Ereignis; die Caledonian Railway Sulzer Diesel Gala. Zwischen Brechin und Bridge of Dun verkehrten mehrere von Diesellokomotiven gezogene Züge. Ich habe an verschiedenen Stellen entlang der Strecke Fotos gemacht und bin natürlich auch selbst mitgefahren. Dennoch ein erfolgreicher Tag.

This year the 'Blue Angel' of the Dutch railway museum was present. This diesel train set is named after Marlene Dietrich, who was world famous when this train got into service in the Netherlands.

Several trains ran between Goes and Hoedekenskerke. Of course I made a lot photographs along the track, but a ride in the Blue Angel and the steam train could not be left behind. Furthermore, the children had a great time in the playground. It was a nice day out for the whole family.

'Spuren in die Vergangenheit' ist die jährliche Veranstaltung der SGB. Verschiedene eigene Lokomotiven, oft auch Gast Züge, verleihen dieser Veranstaltung Glanz. In diesem Jahr war der 'Blaue Engel' des Eisenbahnmuseums anwesend. Dieses Dieselzugset ist nach Marlene Dietrich benannt, die weltberühmt war, als es in den Niederlanden zum ersten Mal auf die Schienen kam.

Mehrere Züge fuhren zwischen Goes und Hoedekenskerke. Natürlich habe ich viele Fotos entlang der Strecke gemacht, aber eine Fahrt mit dem Blauen Engel und dem Dampfzug konnte auch nicht zurückgelassen werden. Außerdem hatten die Kinder eine tolle Zeit auf dem Spielplatz. Es war ein erfolgreicher Tag für die ganze Familie.

ACL EMD E-7A locomotive 533 is seen in the platform area with train 38, (aka: Jax Mail) while it is being loaded with mail, express & baggage prior to its early evening departure from the downtown station, situated between 2nd and 3rd Street on First Avenue South in Saint Petersburg, Florida, April, 1960. The station tracks were situated on First Avenue South and were on a continuous up-grade from the South Mole to 16th Street, and the locomotive really had to work hard when departing the station. It appears that two employees standing by the front of the locomotive are involved with one of the interconnection hoses on the pilot. In the background you can see a mail truck delivering bags of mail that has been placed on a baggage float. The trains consist has five headend cars along with one rider coach that travels on a slow schedule with numerous stops enroute to Jacksonville. The car next to the mail truck is a RPO. If you notice the train has been split at Second Street to allow vehicles to pass until departure time. The station's actual platform was constructed of red brick while the track area was covered with asphalt to serve as platform area and to make it possible for vehicles to load or unload. Behind the employees standing by the front of the locomotive there was a siding with a platform for the old Harrison Hardware building, but this track was often used by express cars. This station was taken out of service in 1963 with the building being torn down after that along with most of the downtown area tracks being removed.

NHRR ALCO FA-1 # DER-2a class locomotive # 0418 along with two EMD GP9 DERS-4 class locomotives lead a westbound manifest freight train on an express track near tower SS38 at Stamford, Connecticut, ca 1968, Bob Hughes Photo. In this scene there is no snow on the ground but it is still winter because the roof of the freight cars are covered with snow. There is one of the colorful State Of Maine box cars following the locomotives.

NS GE C39-8 locomotive # 8583, operating long hood forward, along with another GE locomotive leads a manifest freight train past this main line grade crossing location prior to the arrival of N&W # 1218, with the Suwannee railfan excursion train in Georgia, November 1987. Numerous railfans, photographers and observers were at this location awaiting the arrival of the N&W # 1218 articulated steam locomotive led railfan excursion train.

97304 “John Tiley” and 97302 power away from Talerddig with the 6C70 11:46 Aberystwyth to Crewe Basford Hall empty spoil wagons. Naturally enough, the entire area was in full sunshine until 6C70 arrived. RWJ is so well pissed-off that you can't imagine.

Hired in for a second time by Colas due to Loco shortages, West Coast Railway Company owned 37668 heads through Allenmore, approaching Tram Inn, working the 3S59 09:00 Hereford to Swindon Transfer Yard Rail Head Treatment Train with Colas 66846 on the rear.

New Haven Railroad with two ALCO RS-11's leading a westbound Shore Line passenger train at Rocky Neck State Park with people seen at the shore in Connecticut, ca 1957. This passenger train consist has quit a mix of cars with the newer Pullman Standard stainless steel lightweight cars, Osgood Bradley-PS aka: American Flyer cars, along with some heavyweight cars. The shore is really active on this day with all of the people situated either on the beach or in the water. Remember going to this same location to watch trains back in the late 1940's until the mid 1950's.
