Kirkby in Ashfield, Notts on 24th April 1990, with a nice (unexpected) change from the usual MGR coal trains are 20228 & 20176 with a northbound ballast train, including a 'Shark' plough brake, seen running on the 1972 B.R. deviation.
This was built to end the traffic queues at a level crossing in the town. So many coal trains passed through on the Midland line back then, it caused buses and other traffic to be severely delayed.
The deviation was from just south of where Sutton Parkway station is today, to join the former Great Northern line near where Kirkby Summit signal box was.
At the southern end, close to where today's Kirkby Lane End junction is, a short link re-connected with the Midland down to Pinxton and the Erewash Valley.
No coal trains today, but the line is still used by the Robin Hood passenger services from Nottingham to Mansfield and Worksop, plus the occasional EMU drags to and from storage in Worksop yard.

This is one of the many railway-related attractions in Slovakia. The train runs along the viaduct from east to west (more or less, with a deviation to the south) and after two minutes it will leave the tunnel at the bottom of the picture and stop at the local passenger stop. Such things only in Switzerland? Not only. Several dozen kilometers south of Poprad, we have our Slavic mountain railway loop with a tunnel.
As part of the connection between Spiš and the upper Hron river valley, a transversal railway line Margecany - Červená Skala was built in the first half of the 1930s. Transversal character of the line causede the need of construction numerous engineering structures, mainly tunnels. Currently, the line is used only by local passenger trains, running mainly between Banská Bystrica and Margecany. Like the one in the picture, REX 820 from Margecany, headed by the upgraded "diver" 757.014. July 31, 2021.
The tunnel whose exit is at the bottom of the photo is 1,240 meters long and is the longest on this line (there are nine of them in total). The track in the tunnel runs in a curve with a radius of 400 meters, and the difference in height between the track on the viaduct and the tunnel exit at the bottom at the Telgárt penzion stop is 31 meters, which is approximately the height of a 10-floor residential building.

W ramach połączenia Spiszu i doliny górnego Hronu wybudowano w pierwszej połowie lat 30.

African elephants are under the risk of extinction because of poaching and the illegal trade in ivory. This elephant in South Luangwa National Park has no tusks - a genetic deviation that is quite common among female African elephants. It doesn't seem to hinder her, and at least she will never be poached for her ivory!

I've spent the last week imersed in a "Maschinen Krieger Deviation" building mood. I've built a dozen of fighting suits - and surprise civilian versions - and will be showcasing them in the next days; None of them are pure canon Ma.K builds, and all are heavily influenced by the broader concept of "mechanical" or "armored" power suits.
Both SAFS inspired suits in the scene aren't my favorites of the round, so I decided to build a 'hangar-like' little dio - This way I could get the best of them. They are inspired in both Sea Pig and Snake Eye SAFS versions.
Regarding the scene itself, I've always seen the Mercenary Army as a more informal and less militarized army, so engineers and technicians wouldn't feature a military like garment as the SDR.
The autoshop style crane looks strange, but I went for a 'full technic' version - exception for the jumper and chain - instead of a smoother 'brick and tile' version.
C&C always appreciated, fellows :D
Festiniog Railway no. 4 Palmerston propels its passenger train back into Dduallt station, after a run-past onto the start of the spiral up to the Llyn Ystradau Deviation. Taken during a David Williams photo charter.
I've chosen this picture as the one to upload, reversing back down after the first run-past, as on the actual run-past the loco exhaust blew across and the loco tender and the four-wheel coach at the front of the train were both in its shadow (and most of the frames in the burst also had smaller shadows on most of the other coaches). This was the only run-past I shot from this exact spot, moving slightly further round the spiral for the remainder.
After the refreshment break at Tanygrisiau, we headed back down the line (with both trains coupled together again) to Tan-y-bwlch for some photos at the station, including of Palmerston departing past Hugh Napier taking on water. The sun was still not expected to reappear, and it did not. We then ran back up the line to Dduallt, where Hugh Napier unexpectedly ran into the sidings and moved the short rake of ex-South African Railway bogie box wagons - and we soon realised why: it was to move them out of this view!
By now we could see the breaks in the cloud appearing, and we all got into position, although the holes we could initially see were not heading in the right direction, and it was well over half an hour after arriving here that the first run-past was called - in sun. Several then set off further round the corner, as did I, and the run-pasts continued with Palmerston and the passenger train. Eventually the passenger train was run slightly further up the line and positioned in the background of some shots (partly hidden in the trees), and the run-pasts began with Hugh Napier and the tipplers, but the sun disappeared for a while. Crew hours then meant we needed to depart if we were to do one last location, where the sun was only just moving round far enough.

My sister and I went to see the British Royal Family when they visited Victoria, BC. Prince William is representing our Head of State here in Canada which is HM Queen Elizabeth II.
Catherine is even more beautiful in person than one could imagine. She was radiant and friendly to everyone after she and Prince William got off the Tall Ship in Victoria's Inner Harbour. She left us all feeling starstruck.

This is taken from the trackbed of the original route of the Linha do Douro, the line was diverted and the original route closed due to the opening of the Valeira Dam in 1975 which raised the river level to a point where it was no longer navigable under the existing railway bridge.

For Maddy…Maddy Lane…BFFF!
I couldn’t help but think of you as I made this deviation.
I used a shot that I took in a San Francisco park (Powell St.) for the background. I loved the textures and colors of the walls. Then I superimposed the wonderful model from akai_hinoiri. The rest was done in CS3. This is my first deviation (deviantart.com) and I hope to do more in the future. There is so much to learn, and it only takes time…and patience. :~}

I was very surprised to see a long line of blue cars behind the two engines at the front of the train.
It looks that they had to take a deviation from the standard route.
