Darkest deep, lightest light
Black is painted on waves of white
Clouds descend into the deep
Filled with tears that fate did weep
Patterns of nature, found under the sky
Beautifully flowing before an eye
As white becomes black, black becomes white
When the dark makes love to the light

After what I can only describe as a hectic day at work clearing the cobwebs with a sunset was exactly the thing to do.
And seeing as I hadn't sunset'ed (?) at Kiama before .. today was the perfect day to try it on.
After conquering the summit of Glorieta Pass, the eastbound Southwest Chief cruises downgrade as they roll past the control point at East Glorieta.
Autumn leaves sprite to a full bloom array of magnificent colours, but there comes a time as October descends that theses beautiful leaves have to fall away....see you again in the springtime !
Pushing on that trigger is like pulling magic into my very soul...Darrell.
Have a safe and delightful day dearest flickr friends !
Five veteran EMD's with a heavy Spokane to Laurel manifest is easing down the Emerald Hills with its 1.80% grade of Bozeman Pass.
This is one of my favourite shots from this summer's Europe trip. It was quite crowdy on the surrounding hills of Matterhorn that day mainly because of good weather that was forecasted after few days of heavy showers. I know it doesn't look like 'good weather', but the sky was about to clear up in an hour or so.
Right behind the ridge in the foreground of the photo, there's a beautiful viewpoint at Matterhorn, from which you feel like you could almost touch the most iconic peak of Switzerland. I was waiting patiently for people passing back and forth and hunting for a victim. I finally got him, a lonely trecker descending from the ridge with his majesty Matterhorn arising behind his backs.
I took a shot of these stairs in Embankment underground station a few years ago and the tiles were blue. They did look more striking back then but I still like this stairwell and tunnel effect.
Extreme Roads in Jordan.
The most dangerous and exciting part of Kings Road (The old road to Petra).
It is the start of the descent of the Mujib Canyon, the road is steep with many tight curves, and several (Switch-Backs), a true shelf road.
A Nikon Z5 Full-frame was used to capture this Video, 1080 x 1920, 60 fps recording. My first Video test on this Camera.
It is a jumpy Video as the Camera was not secured enough.
Muted familiar fragrances
Distant fleeting recollections
This beauty I had come to know
Shatters then recedes in brittle air
Aimless vagrant waters
Draw me out with the tide
Gasping, slowing descending
Screaming toward the shore
Painful persistent images
Disrupts my sleep
Intrudes in dreams
Faint droning echoes within the walls
Veiled reminders of regret time will hold
Aimless vagrant waters
Draw me out with the tide
Gasping, slowing descending
Screaming toward the shore

The Music: Daylight Dies - Descending
#279/365 I have a fascination for parking structures as well as airports and subways. I usually try to take shots without people and initially I was going to clone out this person, but I thought the one person in this huge frame was much more dramatic.

The one building in this wild landscape (the white speck centre right distance) is the remote Carnmore Lodge on the Letterewe Estate, used as a shooting lodge in season.
Clouds have been touching the ground and the colors of Fall beginning to arrive in coastal Maine. I expect Paul is getting a bit weary of me asking him to pull over but it is just so pretty.
Michelle descends to the trailhead at Smith Rock State Park.
ABOUT THE SERIES
I first met my girlfriend Michelle two years ago at a close friend's wedding (we were both in the wedding party on Sara, the bride's side). The wedding took place at Sara's family's ranch in Sisters, Oregon. In July 2010, Michelle and I traveled back to Sisters, Oregon for the 4th of July weekend to celebrate the birthdays of those of us who are turning 30 this year (that will be me in November).
Sisters is an amazing place with spectacular scenery and outdoor activities. The town is named after the Three Sisters mountains which are named Faith, Hope, and Charity although there are many other mountain tops visible from the town including Mount Bachelor and Mount Washington.

Up until recently, I have never heard of the word "Manhattanhedge" (sometimes also referred to as Manhattan Solstice), an event where several times a year, the setting sun aligns with the east-west streets of Manhattan's main street grid, often resulting in spectacular sunsets for all to see. This year it happened on May 29th, May 30th, July 11th, and July 12th. This is not a capture of that. Rather it's simply a capture of a street scene at the corner of West 42nd and 6th Ave during the magic hour. Nevertheless, I was lucky enough to have witnessed several of these during my stay there.
From Constitution Hill you get a superb view over one of my favourite British towns: Aberystwyth. It seems I'm not alone in having this viewpoint; Aberystwyth was recently voted one of the top ten small towns in the UK for a winter break, by readers of The Guardian.
