A doubled up BNSF grain train in a 3-2-1 configuration heads back east, dropping down grade over Evaro Mountain on the MRL 10th Sub as one of many cells pound the mountain behind with rain.
A quartet of Freeport McMoran GP38s descends down the 5% grade with a cut of loaded gondolas for the Arizona Eastern interchange in Clifton, AZ. I was lucky to catch a crew come down as early as around 8am since the usual run closer to 10/11am will always be backlit here. This allowed for just a slimmer of nose light.
It had to be done !!!, The iconic Ashness bridge.I took my place in this spot along side a bunch of other photogs all after the same shot as me , I took my shot then went off in search of something different which I found , the view here takes in Derwent water in the distance.
Looking at my images I really think we chose the right time of the year to go to the lake district we had some very lovely Autumn colours. I would love to go again but hope my visit would not coincide with that of a camera club . I found out there were sixteen of them which is a lot of people descending on iconic spots at one time, they have every right to be there the same as I but just not at the same time lol.
In Giurgeu mountains, near Lacul Rosu.
Trying to stay away from black and white on this trip's images.
The FWWR Cresson Turn picks up speed after having just crossed through then downtown TCU area in Fort Worth heading downgrade on the Ex-Santa Fe Dublin Sub with 6 engines hauling over 100 cars (7/8/23).
As the sun started to set and the temperature began to drop, tendrils of fog would descend from the sky, only to rise and dissipate as they reached the lower elevations. It was quite a show. This is the view from Devil's Courthouse looking West to Mt. Hardy in Macon County, North Carolina
Descending Washington Hill into Becket is Q436, with 134 cars and a DPU (Distributed Power Unit) between the 99th and 100th cars. The eastbound train started its journey at Selkirk Yard in NY and terminates in Framingham, MA.
CSX AC44CW no.s 465 and 487 are seen alone descending down the Hell Gate Bridge approach, crossing the Astoria Line at Astoria-Ditmars Blvd station. The two locomotives, both sporting the outdated YN2 "Bright Future" paint scheme, were heading to pick up a cut of cars from the New York & Atlantic at Fresh Pond Yard, and returned the other way around an hour and a half later.
More splashes of colour on Saturday before the lockdown: Rainbow Lorikeets are already quite active looking for suitable tree hollows to nest.
As I climb higher up the slopes of Glas Tulaichean, the wonderful weather that started that day has closed in around me, with the clouds descending and shrouding the surrounding mountain tops. Glen Lochsie that I followed earlier lies below me, but climbing lies ahead!
Glas Tulaichean is my 5th Munro of the season and the 28th in total, bringing me to a Munro completion rate of near enough 10%. The mountain stands at 1051 meters (3448 feet) and is the last one I will do as I have now moved away from Scotland and back to my roots in South Yorkshire as the pull of the Grandchildren was just too strong.
