One source says the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains range is about 1,000 km (620 mi) in length. Its highest point is 7,090 m (23,260 ft) located 100 km (62 mi) to the northwest of Lhasa. The range is parallel to the Himalayas in the Transhimalayas, and north of the Brahmaputra River. [3] Another source says the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains extend 460 miles (740 km) from Nyêmo County in the west to Ranwu County (the southwestern part of Baxoi County) in the east.

Its highest peak is Mount Nyenchen Tanglha (Nyainqêntanglha Feng) at 7,162 metres (23,497 ft).[4]

The southern side of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains is precipitous, and falls by around 2,000 metres (6,600 ft), while the northern side is fairly level and descends about 1,000 metres (3,300 ft). Most of the mountains are below 6,500 metres (21,300 ft).[5] They contain 7080 glaciers covering an area of 10,700 square kilometres (4,100 sq mi).[4]

The Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains have an average latitude of 30°30'N and a longitude between 90°E and 97°E. Together with the Gangdise Shan located further west, it forms the Transhimalaya [a] which runs parallel to the Himalayas north of the Yarlung Tsangpo River.

The Drukla Chu river rises in the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, where it is called the Song Chu river, and joins the Gyamda Chu river. The combined rivers run about 100 kilometres (62 mi) southeast to the Yarlung Tsangpo river.

45104 ‘The Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers’ descends from the Peak District, through Buxworth, towards its destination while working the 0720 Harwich to Manchester Picadilly on Sunday 13th September 1987.

In the summer of 1987 the class 45s were fading fast, and this, my first full year of photography, included plenty of effort to photograph the survivors at work.

On Sunday the 13th February pickings were slim, but given a favourable forecast we tried our luck with the Harwich to Manchester diagram, one of the handful of remaining class 45 passenger diagrams. This shot was captured successfully, but after waiting a few hours for the return, we lost the sun on the Harwich bound train to a tiny cloud in (what I remember as) a clear blue sky. For years afterwards, when such a situation re-occurred, it was known as ‘a bit of a Buxworth’.

45104 was one of a small number of class 45/s that, at the ends of their lives, were treated to some minor paintwork enhancements, including white window surrounds, white ‘go faster’ stripes and painted grilles. 45104 still carried the name given to it 25 years earlier in 1962 as well as the regimental crest.

The locomotive was to continue in service for a further 7 months from this date, being withdrawn on 13th April 1988.

Ha Long Bay features over 1,600 limestone karsts and islets rising dramatically from emerald-green waters. These formations, shaped by 500 million years of geological evolution, are dotted with caves, grottoes, and secluded beaches.

The name “Ha Long” translates to “Descending Dragon”, derived from a local legend. According to the tale, a dragon descended from the heavens to protect Vietnam from invaders, creating the bay’s rocky islands by thrashing its tail.

On the roof of the boat you may notice three animated drone operators who are ecstatic over a perfect sunrise. One of the sunrises I will never forget.

A quintet of Freeport McMoran Geeps brakes its way downgrade toward Clifton, AZ, with a long train of boxcars loaded with copper, empty acid tank cars, and some gondolas loaded with copper concentrate.

The road from Farleigh Wallop to Cliddesden is particularly beautiful at the moment. I am surprised there are not more accidents along this stretch as one tends to concentrate on the view! I took my life in my hands for this shot as there is no footpath and the banks are steep and the traffic when it comes is particularly fast and as I said people tend to be watching the view rather than the road. I had to share it with you. www.stanhd.com/
