I met these two walkers who seemed to have had enough of the cold wet and windy conditions up top. Photo taken on Comb Crags, as a brief sunny spell brushes Middle Tongue on the flanks of Helvellyn.

A tulip doesn’t strive to impress anyone. It doesn’t struggle to be different than a rose. It doesn’t have to. It is different. And there’s room in the garden for every flower.

St. Pauli-Elbtunnel

Hamburg

Steps in a castle in Ireland

Driving around that bend on the left of the picture, one was faced with a sudden descent that made your hair stand on end !

Descending the stairs at Mohegan Bluffs on Block Island. I can't say enough positive about this place. I think it's possibly the most breathtaking natural scenery that I know of in New England. I always enjoy this place immensely.

However, the weather was deceptively hot and humid. I'd rented a bike to get here, but with almost 90 degree temperatures this turned out to be very challenging.

Out of the bosom of the Air

Out of the cloud-folds of her garments shaken,

Over the woodlands brown and bare,

Over the harvest-fields forsaken,

Silent, and soft, and slow

This bird and the pose just makes me think of an angel coming down from above.

In this shot, the bird was heading towards the feeder but he wasn't quite within the sweet spot for the best focus. He hit that just as he was landing and also as he left the feeder.

So the sharpness is definitely lacking a bit but I thought the overall aesthetics were pleasing anyway so I decided I share it. Can't always get that perfection but sometimes we get what we get.

And it's so rare to see these birds do anything other than scale up and down a tree trunk. So I'll take it, even if it's not perfect.

Here is another opportunity capture that presented itself when down in the underground fort in Maine. The standing water made a neat reflection there in the tunnel section. Was able to catch this young lad coming back down the stairs.

Unfortunately I don't have much time to take photos at the moment as I'm busy with preparing my move to another apartment and also there's a lot going on at work (will have to change something about that too, and soon). Anyway, I guess I'll keep posting holiday photos from last month for some time...
