Sally (a birthday present) and Sally bauble!

I had a wonderful birthday. In the evening we invited the neighbours and we had a winter solstice bonfire with mince pies, Christmas cake and mulled wine.

Not too bad for a point & shoot!! ;-)

If the full moon tonight looks unusually large, it is not your imagination – it is the biggest and brightest full moon to be seen for 15 years.

Each month the Moon makes a full orbit around the Earth in a slightly oval-shaped path, and tonight it will swing by the Earth at its closest distance, or perigee. It will pass by 356,613km (221,595 miles) away, which is about 28,000km closer than average.

The unusual feature of tonight is that the perigee also coincides with a full moon, which will make it appear 14 per cent bigger and some 30 per cent brighter than most full moons this year.

The next closest encounter with a full moon this large will not be until November 14, 2016.

This Months Theme "frostbite" is a broad open theme allowing you to delve into the wide interpretations of more than just the Christmas Holiday. Pulling from many of the strongest trends in Winter Fashion 2012, it is unavoidable to notice the predominant existence of the Fall Winter classics-Black and Gray. The colors of the Fall have always been associated with greys & do indeed have a sophistication & winter charm of their own, but amidst these two heavy hues, the cooler jewel tones in ranges of plums and blues is a seriously needed injection of neo-neons & welcome change. The color blue has been trending for a while and the runways confirm that it here to stay at least for another season, so this pallet is perfect for Winter 2012.So be thinking of Pinches of black that look strikingly smart and chic against the jewel colors, breaking the color in the smartest way possible. Floppy hats, cigarette pants, elbow gloves and fur collared coats, ornate and luxuriously detailed, giant Elaborate brooches serving as buttons or clasps, sparkling appliqués and lurex-threaded brocades. Think silhouettes with a turn of the century feel, but with bits of the 1960s and 1970s in there also. In footwear its Brogues, Pumps, Wedges and ankle straps. For Hair be thinking anything from dramatic bouffant hairdos to sleek ponytails and androgynous hair, Fall-Winter 2012 is all about being experimental with various hairstyle and looks so have fun with some wild ideas for our frostbite round!

Christmas morning at home.

I hope it still looks good ever.

Thank you all for the views, faves and comments!

I've got a bit of a treat for some people.

Great morning exploring the local backcountry.

I rather like this pose.

Oh, and my stocking tops as well ;)

Shot one of my good pals today.

Summer is heating up and the garden is giving its reward for the year's attention.

A few days ago after a snowstorm has blanketed the valley with much needed powder. Taken with another manual lens, the Zuiko 21mm.

Sorry I haven't been around much these past few weeks. Too many things have occupied what little time I have left after everything else. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. And even if you didn't celebrate or believe in the Holidays, there's always something to be thankful for. I know I've missed a few of you from the last rounds so I'll try to be mindful and visit you first this time around. As always, I am appreciative of everyone's visit and perhaps I don't say it enough so "thank you." As a way to show my appreciation, I will begin posting my Lightroom presets in the coming posts. I know that some of you may not have or use Lightroom, in which case I will simply give some of my processing tips so that for those interested can at least apply the idea to their own workflow.

Wishing you all a fabulous week.

Midnight flatly refused to wear the Christmas sweater. Wouldn't even try it on. Just no.

Look how grey my baby's getting. He's almost seven years old. He is so over my stupid ideas. Tacky Christmas sweater? Um, no. *holds up tiny paw in protest*
