At first, going for a walk in late afternoon on a foggy December day can seem gloomy and dispiriting. Then, as you get into it and start to follow the winding road into the ever receding mist, it becomes hypnotic and meditative.

We were ordered to dig our positions out side of St. Vith, nothings happened for two whole days since I got here and lets hope it stays that way the nights have been cold and we're forced to spend them in foxholes.
The anti air guns are going off again lets hope the Germans don't try anything tonight. I remember when I enlisted about a month ago right after Thanksgiving all my pals were doing it so I decided to enlist with them I missed D-day by pure luck but got thrown into the could winter of Belgium. My Sargent is yelling at me to put out the lantern so I guess I'll have to write more later....
