I take a lot of pictures sitting on the el, from the windows of buses, and from the passenger's seat of cars. I was riding the el one night and became fascinated by a line that someone had carved into the plexi window, and the way that it made the world outside seem like a sort of composed landscape. In this photo, the line is dark and clear and particularly expressive.
I've been trying to capture the weird, jangly energy that hits me from time to time while driving in rush hour traffic. I didn't want anything super sharp. I wanted motion blur and odd almost-saturated colors. It's like the felling I get right before I have a vascular migraine. Except, fortunately, one never hits.

From this location, on this line, there are about 5 trains in the morning heading in to downtown Toronto, and in the evening about 5 trains returning back.
Any other time, there are no trains, only buses, which take considerably longer, depending on traffic and time of day.

When the train arrives at Union station downtown, most of the tracks are occupied by GO trains coming from other parts of the greater Toronto area.
This shot shows another train beside ours, also pulling into the station, as well as the people around me on the train by way of reflection.
