Kpandruma, Ituri, RDC – Le 16 octobre 2021, l'Unité d'appui à la Stabilisation de la MONUSCO en Ituri, en partenariat avec le Consortium Ensemble pour la sécurité et la paix à Djugu, a remis aux autorités provinciales un bâtiment devant abriter le commissariat de la Police nationale congolaise à Kpandruma, à 120 km de Bunia. D’une valeur de 49,400 USD, cette réalisation s'inscrit dans le cadre du pilier "Restauration de l'autorité de l'Etat" de la Stratégie internationale d'appui à la sécurité et la Stabilisation (ISSSS). Kpandruma, Ituri, DRC – On October 16, 2021, MONUSCO Stabilization Support Unit in Ituri, in partnership with the Consortium Ensemble pour la sécurité et la paix à Djugu, turned over to the provincial authorities a building to house the Congolese National Police station in Kpandruma, 120 km from Bunia. Mercury is widely available in the gold mining town of Mongbwalu, Ituri district.
UNEP's report identified the following environmental issues associated with large scale mining: landscape degradation, water and air pollution, radioactive contamination and deterioration of social welfare. For small-scale and artisanal mining, the priority issues are mercury contamination, bio-physical degradation, health hazards, human rights abuses, child labour, lack of access to funding and markets, as well as impacts on forests, biodiversity and protected areas.

Le mercure est abondamment disponible dans la ville de la mine d'or de Mongbwalu dans le district d'Ituri.
Le rapport du PNUE a permis d'identifier les problématiques environnementales suivantes associées à l'exploitation minière industrielle: la dégradation du paysage, la pollution de l'air et de l'eau, la contamination radioactive et la détérioration du bien-être social. Les problématiques prioritaires pour l'exploitation minière artisanale à petite échelle sont les suivantes: la contamination au mercure, la dégradation biophysique, les impacts sur les forêts, sur la biodiversité et sur les aires protégées, ainsi que d'importants impacts humains et sociaux, tels que les risques sanitaires, les violations des droits de l'homme, le travail des enfants et le manque d'accès au financement et aux marchés.

Compte-rendu : Kalemie : Célébration de la Journée internationale de la femme 2019
Les différents messages ont été inspirés du thème international de la Journée internationale de la femme 2019 : « Penser équitablement, bâtir intelligemment, innover pour le changement » et du thème national : Promouvoir la paix, la sécurité et le Genre par l’accès aux services publics de qualité avec comme slogan « Même regard, même avenir et égalité des chances ».
La célébration de la Journée internationale de la femme a été marquée cette année par une marche des femmes organisée sous la coordination du Ministère du Genre, Famille, Enfant et Action Humanitaire de la province du Tanganyika. Environ 3000 femmes de différentes catégories socioprofessionnelles ont pris part à cette marche qui a eu lieu à la place Maendeleo au centre-ville de Kalemie en présence des autorités politico-administratives provinciales, les membres du Conseil de sécurité provincial, la société civile, le système des Nations Unies (MONUSCO et Agences), les ONGs nationales et internationales, les mouvements et associations de jeunes, les médias et un public venu nombreux soutenir les femmes. La mobilisation a été remarquable. La marche rythmée par la fanfare des Kimbanguistes a connu la participation du personnel féminin civil, militaire et de police de la MONUSCO de même que des Agences du Nations Unies notamment OIM, PAM, UNICEF.
La manifestation a été présidée par le Gouverneur de province par intérim. Rappelant le thème international du 8 mars, l’autorité a axé son discours sur l’innovation pour le changement. Appelant à la solidarité envers les femmes et les jeunes filles, il a demandé l’implication de tous et de toutes, et l’adhésion des politiques et des médias pour qu’intervienne le changement pour la promotion des droits de la femme.
Par ailleurs, outre l’appui logistique et la participation du bureau de la MONUSCO à la marche des femmes, les femmes de la police de la MONUSCO, Secteur de Kalemie ont organisé une séance de sensibilisation sur le thème du 8 mars à l’institut Technique du cinquantenaire à 12km de Kalemie, occasion d’expliquer aux élèves l’origine et l’importance de cette journée. Elles ont encouragé les filles à s’investir dans les études surtout dans les domaines de la science, la technologie, l’ingénierie et les mathématiques pour pouvoir réduire certaines inégalités et de favoriser ainsi une transformation structurelle positive de la société. L’équipe UNPOL s’est rendue ensuite au camp des déplacés du Cinquantenaire où elle a fait un don à une femme vulnérable dont la maison a été détruite suite à un incendie.
Le bataillon indonésien de la MONUSCO (INDORBD) a quant à lui mis en place pour la Journée, au profit des populations de Kalemie, des consultations médicales principalement pour les « mamans » ainsi qu’une série d’activités ludiques pour les enfants et les jeunes gens sur la place Maendeleo de Kalemie.
Notons aussi que le personnel du système des Nations Unies (MONUSCO/Agences) a organisé en son sein, au quartier général de la MONUSCO, une activité récréative avec chants, danses et sketches sur les questions de stéréotypes et relations hommes/femmes dans la société.
Un broadcast /dissémination du message du SG/ONU pour le 8 mars a été fait auprès du personnel des Nations Unies, de la presse locale et de diverses audiences par la Section de l’information publique de Kalemie.

Kananga, Kasaï Occidental, RDC : Pour atténuer le besoin de la population en eau potable au Quartier Bianki à Kananga, la MONUSCO y a financé l’aménagement de dix sources d’eau potable dans le cadre des projets à impact rapide. D’un montant de 35 603.6 dollars américains, ce projet va aider 55 825 femmes et environ 77 400 filles à fournir de l’eau potable à leurs familles, mais surtout éliminer les maladies d’origines hydriques causées selon Mme Berthine Bitota de l’ONG ADESI par «des conditions d’hygiène précaires issues de déchets biologiques en cette période post conflit dans le Kasaï”. Kananga, Western Kasai, DRC: To alleviate the need for drinking water in the Bianki District of Kananga, MONUSCO has funded the construction of 10 drinking water sources under the Quick-impact projects. This 35,603.6 US dollars-QIP will help 55,825 women and about 77,400 girls to provide drinking water to their families, but above all to eliminate waterborne diseases caused by "precarious hygiene conditions from biological waste in the post-conflict period in Kasai", according to Mrs. Berthine Bitota of the NGO ADESI. Journée internationale de la paix 2021 : A Goma, la MONUSCO a reuni une vingtaine d’étudiants des différentes universités de Goma et une dizaine de journalistes autour du thème : « Le rôle et le mandat des sections substantives de la MONUSCO dans la consolidation de la paix et de la stabilisation du Petit Nord ».

RDC, Kananga, en prélude a la célébration de la journée des droits de l’homme le BCNUDH, l’unité pénitentiaire de la MONUSCO et leurs partenaires ont organisé un match de football et une campagne médicale au sein de la prison centrale de Kananga en faveur des détenus. A cette occasion une trentaine de détenus ont été consultés et reçu des médicamenta de 1ère nécessitée. Le match de football qui a opposé l’équipe de la MONUSCO à celle des détenus a été remporté par ces derniers qui ont reçu un don de vivres à l’occasion. Photo MONUSCO/Laurent Sam OUSSOU
DRC, Kananga, as a prelude to the celebration of Human Rights Day, the UNJHRO, the MONUSCO’s prison unit and their partners organized a football match and a medical campaign in the Central Prison of Kananga in favor of the detainees. On this occasion, about thirty detainees were consulted and received medication of 1st necessity. L’activité, animée par la Radio Okapi et quatre femmes journalistes expérimentées invitées, a connu la participation de près d’une cinquantaine de jeunes étudiantes. Beni, North Kivu Province Congo: The MONUSCO Force commander Lieutenant General Elias Rodrigues Martins Filho has paid a working visit to Beni on Friday 7 June 2019. He was accompanied by Brazilian Ambassador to the DRC During the visit the Force commander reviewed the Medal Presentation parade of the South African Battalion in Beni which saw a match Past as well as drill display and traditional dancing They also met with senior military officers and the Head of Office of MONUSCO Beni.
