Cette sensibilisation était au profit des femmes et de personnes ayant subi des violences sexuelles à la suite de conflits armés. Elle visait à avoir une discussion informative sur les conséquences de la violence sexuelle et les moyens de les surmonter : rejet par la famille, soutien psychologique, maladies sexuellement transmissibles et réinsertion dans la société. Fataki, Ituri, DRC: Uruguayan troops of MONUSCO hosted, on July 01, 2022, an information breakfast meeting on sexual violence in Fataki, Djugu territory in collaboration with the Danish Refugee Council NGO. This awareness meeting was intended for the local women and people who have suffered sexual violence, as a consequence of the armed conflicts. It was aimed at having informative talks about the consequences of sexual violence and how to overcome them: rejection by the family, psycho-social support, sexually transmitted diseases and reinsertion into the society. Kinshasa, DRC – A roving photo exhibition under the theme "When women take peace in their hands" opened on Thursday 10 March for 17 days at the Texaf Bilembo cultural centre in Kinshasa. The exhibition profiles 14 women from the Middle East, South America and Africa who have mediated with armed groups, participated in peace talks, advanced political solutions and advocated for women’s rights. The DRC is wonderfully represented in this exhibition by activist Fifi Baka of the organisation Rien Sans Les Femmes (Nothing without Women), and talented photographer Ley Uwera. As the Planet is commemorating today the World Youth Skills Day, MONUSCO contingents have organized throughout the DR Congo various activities to empower young Congolese boys and girls. In this context, a Vocational Training Centre has been inaugurated this day, July 15, 2020, in Goma by the Indian Contingent of MONUSCO for the purposes of training the local youth population in various areas, with a particular attention to women. DRC: The United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres payed a visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo from the 31 August to 2 September 2019.In Goma he held meetings with the MONUSCO leadership, Staff Union and Humanitarian actors. He also visited the DDRRR repatriation camp in Munigi where he met some ex combatants and their families. In Beni he laid a wreath for fallen Peacekeepers and visited the Mangina Ebola Operations center where he met Ebola survivors and discharged patients. The SG ended his visit in Kinshasa where he held discussions with the President of the Republic, prime minister, National Assembly as well as opposition and governing parties and the civil society. Tchabi, Ituri province, DRC: While conducting their patrol to secure the local populations, Moroccan peacekeepers of MONUSCO based in Tchabi, Irumu territory came under fire from gunmen near Busiyo village on 08 July 2020. The Peacekeepers managed to drive out the attackers who were bracing to commit atrocities against the civilian population, despite the intense firefights. Prison de Ndolo, Kinshasa, RDC : Dans le cadre de la lutte contre la Covid-19, l'Unité pénitentiaire de la MONUSCO a sensibilisé le 31 août 2020, des femmes détenues et des membres du personnel de la prison de Ndolo à Kinshasa contre cette pandémie. DRC: The United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres payed a visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo from the 31 August to 2 September 2019.In Goma he held meetings with the MONUSCO leadership, Staff Union and Humanitarian actors. He also visited the DDRRR repatriation camp in Munigi where he met some ex combatants and their families. In Beni he laid a wreath for fallen Peacekeepers and visited the Mangina Ebola Operations center where he met Ebola survivors and discharged patients. The SG ended his visit in Kinshasa where he held discussions with the President of the Republic, prime minister, National Assembly as well as opposition and governing parties and the civil society.
