My first sunset at Alabama Hills turned out to be quite memorable. An almost completely overcast sky unexpectedly fired up with the most amazing colors and textures, reflecting off the snow in the high Sierras and the monzogranite shaped into round building blocks and captivating arches. Mount Whitney with its sibling peaks is just to the right of the arch.

Unlike the morning light at this location, which often lasts literally seconds, sunsets are longer. This allowed me to capture this scene with both a focus stack for sharpness and an exposure stack for the sky. Nikon Z7, 14-30mm at 24 mm, f8, 1/8 sec., ISO 64.

Two large architectural holes stare at each other like a pair of cyclopses (Sé do Porto)

I'm guessing it's something like a Go Pro, with one big eye. Interesting, anyway.

EDIT: It looks like a Ricoh Theta 360-degree camera.

🇬🇧 I'm sure many of you already know my photo of the skull.

Finally I got to the volcano and all the conditions were ideal, but just when I was flying the drone, the volcano started to turn off (it had been on for 10-12 hours...) and I thought: “Shit!”.

What I didn't realize at the time was that, as it shut down, the texture that formed was much more interesting than the volcano in full eruption. And so “the skull” began to form. Moments before it formed, I saw this shape that reminded me of a cyclops. What do you think of it?
