Dozens of leaders gathered for an exclusive reception focused on creating lasting change in our region at EdgeWild Restaurant and Winery in Chesterfield, MO on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Guests heard firsthand from local leaders, including Rich McClure and Rev. Starsky Wilson on the work of the Ferguson Commission, Scott Schnuck on addressing local hunger and Connie Cunningham on Ready by 21 St. Louis, a process designed to help youth success in St. Louis County, St. Louis City and St. Charles County. Plenty of delicious hors d'oeuvres and drinks were provided courtesy of EdgeWild throughout the night.
Tree free, handmade papers, braid, motifs etc
I nearly jumped out of my skin when I received my MASSIVE parcel this morning, only posted yesterday! This photo does not show how beautiful and unique these silk, cotton etc papers and other bits made in a small Indian community are. I am going to have lots of fun with these!!
So much variety it's impossible to show, the glitter, embellishments and embossing isn't visible in this size photograph either. I made a few things already from some pieces I picked up from a craft fair.

The borders have been successfully attached (mitered too!) to this queen-sized quilt. More pics to follow of the whole top, once the weather improves and I can take it outside to photograph...that should be in about 6 weeks :-)
Larger areas of veneer loss were compensated with wood fills. The creation and placement of these fills was a multi-step process. First plastic transparencies were used to create a pattern for the fills. A tracing of the area of loss was etched into the film, and then this etching was traced over with a permanent marker. The film was then xeroxed to create paper patterns for each fill. These patterns were cut out and pasted onto new pieces of replacement veneer. This picture shows new fills which were cut using the patterns and a fine jeweler’s saw.

We are creating an Art Float for Social Change at Tam Makers, to inspire more people to participate in democracy. Our parade float will reach out to youth and people of color through art, music and technology. We will present this art show on Earth Day, Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades in Marin -- and throughout California this fall, to encourage people to vote in the next election.
Our unique art float celebrates mother earth with a carousel of waving hands, pulled by a giant feathered serpent. Performers will tell stories of hope on a stage decorated with scenes of a better world. Large signs will invite people to speak up and vote! You can pitch ideas for social change on the podium, or have them scroll on the news ticker.
This community art project is created by a team of students and makers, led by Fabrice Florin and Geo Monley, co-founders of Tam Makers in Mill Valley. We are grateful to Tam High School for hosting this project and to all our wonderful volunteers and art, civic and educational partners, for helping create this float and present it to a diverse community.
We are building this project in March and April 2018, on Thursday evenings from 4 to 9pm -- or Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm. If you would like to volunteer, please email us at float@tammakers.org.

I noticed a complex shadow pattern casting on the cupboard and tried a rendering of that with a close up low prespective shot. I intentially focussed on the upper key to create more separation b/n the key and the shadow from keys and the key ring.
Our Maker Art class created a Time Machine this year, inviting you to travel through time from the age of dinosaurs to the 50th century.
Our 4th and 5th graders at the Lycée Français designed their own scenes from the past, present or future, and brought them to life with motion, lights and sounds. They also worked in teams to build interactive features like illuminated keypads, spinners and doors, using the popular Arduino platform.
In our after-school classes, we combine art, technology and storytelling to help children create their own magical worlds. They learn to design their ideas, build them with a variety of tools, animate them with electronics and tell their stories. This unique multimedia course helps them develop their creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills -- and builds their confidence that they can help change the world.
This year, we had a really good group of 9 students, ages 8 to 11 -- many of whom had taken our Maker Art classes before. They were very creative and engaged, and did a great job presenting their work at the Lycée Français -- and at Marinovators at the College of Marin on April 22.
This Maker Art class was taught by Fabrice Florin and Edward Janne at the Lycée Français in Sausalito in winter 2017. We met every week for 12 workshops of 90 minutes each, Thursdays at 3:30pm, from January 5 to March 30, 2017. Our teachers are part of the Tam Makers learning community and we prepared materials for this project in our state-of-the-art makerspace at the nearby Tam High School.
