In 1934 the KLM DC2 Uiver (PH-AJU) participated in an air race between Mildenhall UK and Melbourne. The plane got lost over Albury NSW. Landed on a race course illuminated by car lights. The NSW town of Albury remembers this event with a memorial at the renovated airport cafe. They had a replica "Uiver" in the airport forecourt until 2008. That replica now is "moored" in a corner of the airfield, together with the Piper Navajo that followed it 50 years later.

This was the first course of the Meat Tasting menu ($45)
Roasted heirloom carrot (par-boiled then roasted) on whipped yogurt with marinated carrots dressed in vinaigrette and streaks of watercress vinegar. The meaty root vegetable is topped with a rainbow of thinly sliced persimmons, nasturtiums, purslanes and nutty puffed wheatberries.However it was the few curls of grilled beef tongue that really caught my attention - so tender and full of deep meaty richness. They were really quite excellent.
Light yet meaty and quite substantial/relatively hearty - great shared. I was surprised by the generous portion despite the fact that it is a carrot) although I'm not complaining. Very nice.

Grace King Special Needs Complex
The goal of this project is to build a garden with swings, a 9-hole regulation putt-putt course and a 1500 sq.ft. outdoor multi-purpose building. The entire complex is designed for special needs students with adaptations for those confined to wheelchairs. The club consists of eight autistic students whose vision is to make any place a better space. Grace King is designed as a one-story building so that it is wheelchair accessible for both students and teachers. All students in Jefferson Parish that are physically challenged will attend Grace King.
Specifics about the project:
~One of a kind wheelchair accessible putt-putt course
~Walk or “roll” through garden facility with a boardwalk track
~Putters designed for wheelchairs by Tulane’s Biomedical Engineering
Department
~1500 sq.ft. outdoor multi-purpose building used for concerts, performances, and
class gatherings
~Multi-purpose building is designed with a unique triangular shape with
wheelchair accessibility

Oysters a la russe. The second hors d’oeuvres served at the beginning of the feast. Freshly shucked oysters were topped with a tomato relish spiked with vodka, horseradish and a hint of SupiCucu’s Diablo’s Fuego.
Canapés a l’Amiral. This was one of two hors d’oeuvres served with prosecco. This one featured crostini topped with a creamy shrimp butter, poached shrimp and fish roe.
of course, if you're visiting finnish relatives in the upper peninsula of michigan you're bound to get invited to enjoy a finnish sauna. kris does just that after a dinner of finnnish pasties with great aunt dolly and great uncle al.
as you can see odin is quite happy to cuddle with kris after she emerges all fresh and warm from the sauna.
