This is an eastbound Rock Island Quad Cities Rocket with E8 655 on the point. That locomotive was built for the railroad in March of 1952.
The location, of course, is the well-known crossing with the ATSF and GM&O at Joliet, Illinois.
A cut of Kobe beef glazed with a sticky paprika taffy and studded with roasted squash seeds. Underneath, a milky yogurt sauce with miniature squash seeds. Roasted squash dusted with smoked paprika; fried bell pepper sliver; fried shiitake; and fresh oregano. Sauced with Kobe jus.
Taste: Very good. I'm a huge squash fan. The roasted seeds were wonderful - but the true centerpiece was the smoky, yet candy sweet paprika taffy. This whole dish WORKED. Meaty, squashy, roasty, smoky, tangy and sweet... a variably complex, yet delightfully successful dish. Along with the Yuba and Duck, this was a winner.

Not all the garden denizens are nectar sippers of course. The praying mantis for instance or the variety of spiders. Among my favorite are the funnelweaver spiders, such as this Funnel-web Grass Spider (Agelenopsis naevia) which build thier lairs in the flowering thyme. When there is fog, or dew it collects on the nets they weave, glistening in the morning sun. The funnelweavers web is a broad triagular sheet of dense webs that narrows to end in a circular funnel that generally slopes down into the plant cover. By day the spider rests in the cover of the funnel, but at dawn and dusk can be found just out of the funnel waiting for prey or expanding and repairing its web. Unfortunately this shot is not the greatest but, until I can get another good shot, it's the best I have of this species.

Our first post-lockdown excursion, and our first restaurant meal since 31 October 2020. We lunched by the sea, at Markopoulos, near Oropos, about an hour away from our home in Athens.
Our main course was a grilled an butterflied Fagri (Red Porgy or Common Sea Bream), accompanied of course, by a dressing of lemon juice and olive oil.

This is Meanwood Beck, one of the many watercourses that flow from the countryside outside of Leeds, and disappear once they reach the city, running through channels, culvert, pipes and tunnels.
