Just in time for Open Studios and APE, I've got some new buttons with my little devil/monkey-bot character, "Cookie".
Made for my church's women's group for their monthly luncheon. They are honoring the local bridge club this month and asked for these sugar cookies.

A Christmas Tradition in our family. We use an old family recipe for the sugar cookies that uses sour cream. The cookies are always soft and delicious.

No sugar, no gluten cookies. I know, I know--the gluten wagon! I'm just mostly avoiding wheat products because it's easier to avoid breads, pastries, and other sweets. Oats, PB2, almond flour, pecans, and coconut made them good. Not awesome, just good and less guilt-inducing.
These cheese cookies were the product of improvised recipe by Rika. Like chicken in a biscuit by Nabisco, she decided to add chicken flavour to the cheese biscuits. After that she thought adding a little basil would make them even tastier. And indeed, the taste was too intense with all the additional ingredients for my liking. She loved this new found taste, but I prefer the original fat bear cheese cookie recipe.
jam cookies, freshly baked!
Recipe:
2 cups plain flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup sugar (or less if you don't want them that sweet)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil or applesauce
1/4 cup water
2 egg replacers
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 Jar of your favourite jam (we used raspberry but strawberry, blackberry or apricot would go really well)
MIx dry and wet ingredients separately then add together and mix until it forms a dough. Roll into balls and place on a baking tray lined with paper. press a well into each ball and drop a teaspoon of the jam on top. Bake at 175C for about 20 minutes.
P.S. Everytime we make these we tweak the recipe a bit, I'm pretty sure these are the measurements we used!
My Raw Oatmeal Raisin Cookies!
Ingredients:
1 cup raw rolled oats
1/2 cup raw walnuts (and some extra if you want to put on top)
10 large medjool dates (pitted ~ more or less depending on how moist they are)
1/2 cup raisins
Directions:
Place whole rolled oats in food processor and blend till it is almost like a powder. I like to still have little pieces of the oats in things so I don’t leave it on for too long. Add the walnuts and the dates. Leave on till it’s the consistency you like. Remove and put in a bowl. Add raisins and mix with your hands. Form into cookies. I put a piece of walnut on each cookie, but you don’t have too. It doesn’t need any sweetener, but if you want them sweeter you can add a little raw agave nectar or sprinkle a little sugar in the raw on top. You can also add cinnamon and or dried cranberries. Oh, and cookie cutters would work nice with these! No sugar, no flour, no baking =) TaaaaDaaaa!!!
