The rear view (from the garden) of Mrs Cook's House in Clapham, the balcony is called Captain Cook's Quarterdeck. Strange to name it after him she moved to Clapham after he had died! It is said that he writes on the window pane with a ghostly finger, strange that since he never lived here.
February 2021 - The illustration Is said to relate to No. 22, Clarence House, Church Buildings, Clapham Common North Side, "with its curious balcony" "strange alcove at the back" "for many years occupied by Clarence House School & wrongly called Captain Cooks House". In 1801 it was occupied by a Mrs Mee; in 1827 it was a Seminary for young Ladies, kept by Miss Brown, who was still there in 1841. It is now a private residence. There is no connection for this rear view illustratio), with Elizabeth Cook's former residence at 136 Clapham High Street (occupied c.1787-1835), to the east of the Common. In the vestibule of the Church of Holy Trinity, Clapham Common, John Robson Prsidnet of the Cook Society is pictured beside a tablet which records a bequest by Elizabeth Cook to support the "poor widows of the parish" in Cook's Log p. 33 vol 34, no 1 (2011)). Robson describes Elizabeth's former house in 2011, "as very rundown, extensively modified, and with shops added to the front"

"Cook died on 9th January 1917 from wounds received in action. The Sports Gazette described Cook as ‘one of the most popular players who ever wore the red jersey of the Middlesbrough Football Club’.
A native of Middlesbrough, Sergeant Cook played locally for South Bank and Middlesbrough and was a 'tremendous favourite with the Ayresome Park habitues'.
A Benefit Match was held for Henry Cook and Donald McLeod at Ayresome Park on 1st January 1918 which raised the sum of £500, with the funds distributed to Mrs McLeod and Mrs Cook at 12 shillings a week." Heritage Unlocked

So many people see these places from the comfort of an air-conditioned bus and never actually get out and meet the people. That seems like such a huge shame - I don't ever intend to be some faceless western tourist who refuses to interact. Such an incredible experience...

They cook for a restaurant in Sorrento, Italy, where English tourists eat listening to The House of the Rising Sun, In Dublin's Fair City and Yesterday played (i.e the notes struck in the correct sequence) on the mandolin!

Aoraki/Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand, reaching a height of 3,754 metres (12,316 ft) It lies in the Southern Alps, the mountain range which runs the length of the South Island.
