Not only have the latest Matchbox five vehicle sets arrived at U.K. Tesco stores in a timely fashion but they are also currently embarrassingly cheap! Not that they were expensive in the first place! Despite Tesco persevering with their nasty HTI generics it looks as though they are placing Matchbox as their budget sub Hot Wheels brand too and that can only be a good thing for British collectors who had to endure most of 2019 with no new Matchbox WHATSOEVER!
For the equivalent of just 67p we get to enjoy Matchbox at their best with this latest recolour of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible. No oversized rear wheels, no big front chin and no tacky decors, just factory fresh goodness! Mint and boxed.
I thought this was starnge when I saw it, as I didn't realise Rover did a Convertible P4. As it turns out, they didn't, so this must be a home-made conversion.
Also, this has a 2.6 litre engine, which wasn't introduced until 1953 in the Rover 90 P4, originally this would have had a 2.1 litre.
I wish I'd read the info sheet in the window, now that I know it's not a factory convertible, as it most likely gave details on the conversion.

While travelling cross-country to attend a family event in South-Western Ontario, we stopped for a coffee in Embro, Ontario, a small rural town. We entered the local post office cum general store, cum restaurant and local hang-out and had a surprisingly good coffee while listening to the locals going over the local new. The main topic of the day was the Wienerfest which we initially assumed was a conventional hot-dog/food function. Quickly disabused of our error, it was made quite clear that a gathering of wiener dogs/dachshunds was taking place at the local arena. As I stepped out of the post office/restaurant, I noticed a couple in a convertible with their wiener dog all set to get to the festival. From the look on the dog, I know who was in charge here! After a quick deliberation we decided this was a must-see event, even if we could only spare 15-20 minutes . We backtracked and followed the wienerfest signs to the arena and were greeted by what was claimed to be about 1,000 wiener dogs and owners in various stages of silly attire owners and dogs) and all having a great time. Hard not to enjoy the festivities including the Running Of The Wieners. Sadly, we could spare nor more than our allotted 20 minutes and had to leave it all behind. Made for an unexpected but fun brfea in the trip. - JW
Tech Details:
Taken using a hand-held Nikon D7100 fitted with a Nikkor 18-105mm VR lense set to 18mm, ISO200, Aperture priority mode, f/7.1, 1/400 sec. HDR processing of a single image was done using Luminance/Qtpfsgui and since only a single image was used only the tone-mapping stage of the software came into play. Hence this image is Tone-Mapped rather than true HDR. PP in GIMP: the image was loaded as 2 layers, one for the overall scene and one for the dog's face (lower), the tone curve was adjusted on the top layer to make the overall scene look more natural and also a bit darker than it originally came out from the tone-mapping stage, the dog face layer was also adjusted using the tone curve tool to get the dog's face to look more natural/crisper, using a large, soft-edged eraser tool I removed the dog's face from the top/overall layer to reveal the better dog face below, made new layer from the visible results, reduced the blue colour bias a bit, sharpened, added fine black and white frame, added bar and text on left, scaled to 1800 wide for posting.

This must be one of the finest examples of its type. 601 DLO has had one lady owner from new and is in entirely original condition; she clearly cherishes it.

This great looking 1960 Corvette convertible was on display at the 6th Annual Corvette Club Car Show held in Ottawa Kansas. She was a beauty!
This Corvette Stingray convertible is of mid-seventies vintage. It had historic plates to boot. :-)
I saw this sports car walking up the street in front of an auto body shop. This picture was taken with my flip phone.
Note the reference on the cover of this brochure to the availability of a "Power Operated Top". This was a relatively new feature, introduced by Plymouth in 1939. It was operated by vacuum cylinders. The 4-door Convertible Sedan of 1939 did not reappear in 1940, thus it was a one-year only Plymouth model.
This may well be an old casting now which dates from well over ten years ago but it still manages to look great in its latest yellow recolour. For years Welly were a big producer of decent but unlicensed castings before really upping their game sometime in the late 90's early Millennium when most of their 1/64 output concentrated on legit licensed models of the highest quality. This superb classic VW Beetle convertible hasn't changed much over the years apart from the adoption of these newer alloy effect wheels. It didn't need to change much simply as it looked so right first time with its accurate styling which has no hint of looking like a caricature of the real vehicle which often affects small scale models of this iconic car. Mint and boxed.
Chevrolet Corvette 1977 Convertible.
The car is a 1977 Corvette that was purchased by Frank the owner in 1977 from Palmyra Motors, Palmyra, NY.
As some of you know that there were no convertibles built between 1975 to 1983. The car was a T-top car that was converted to a convertible with the experienced hands at The Fiberglass Body, Hawthorne, CA. It has a fiberglass front bumper and a 1981 fiberglass rear bumper. A 1979 Pace Car front spoiler. The convertible top parts are from 1968-1975 donor cars. All the emblems were removed and filled. All the body work was completed at The Fiberglass Body. The final bodywork and paint was done by the California Body Works, Hawthorne, CA. Black primer and block sanded. Epoxy black primer and block sanded. Final black paint and clear coated. Color sanded and buffed. I did most of the mechanical and all of the electrical work on the car.
