The original Mustang was not a muscle car; that came later. But it was an iconic machine that set a standard for affordable cars with great looks and performance. Fifty-eight years later, it remains true to form.
This particular car was absolutely beautiful.
Longer than a Duesenberg. Twice the horsepower of a Rolls-Royce. More costly than both put together. The Bugatti Royale was the ultimate automobile, making its owners feel like kings. Not only did it do everything on a grander scale than the world's other great luxury cars, it was also rare. Bugatti built only six Royales, whereas there were 481 Model J Duesenbergs and 1,767 Phantom II Rolls-Royces.

There’s something in the air that something makes my belly rumble
Something smells so strong, it hit me, almost makes me stumble
Could it be the little people cooking
something smelly
In the big red cookie jar
so I can put it in my belly...

All of GM’s divisions except Cadillac and GMC had their ‘internediate’ body size models such as the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme above. Chevrolet had the Chevelle, Pontiac their Tempest/LeMans and Buick their Skylark. They all were styled and packaged attractively. The most popular muscle cars of the era were based on these intermediate size models of each brand.
The Park Lane was one of the full size Mercury models, along with the Monterey and Montclair. Though developed from Ford’s full-size Galaxie 500 model, they were styled to suggest the premium Lincoln Continental sold at the same dealerships.
