Down the road from our NY stat hunting cabin the FD was to a controlled burn on this house. It used to be a nice old farm house but the new owner did not want it he bought it for the land. I will post a picture of it before sometime when I get the chance.

Slightly belated effort to deconstruct previously depressing videos which almost gets there in places. My characteristically unwise decision to read some of the text myself is perhaps compensated by the magnificent performance of Martin de Sey near the end.
Behind-the-driver's-seat view of the cab controls of 4464 "Bittern". Modifications to enable it to run with air-braked stock are the brake valves on the left side of the cab. The locomotive brake valve is the black control, the train brake valve is the larger, grey control below it. Both look like they have been retrieved from a Class 31. Apart from some additional dials at the top of the picture, a dial above the locomotive brake valve and some TPWS indications below the AWS indicator to the right, everything else is pretty much A4-esq.

Now that fall is here, humidity is high and temperatures low, controlled burns are taking place along the Seward Highway on the Kenai Peninsula.
The itsy bitsy spruce bark beetle has been playing havoc on the spruce trees in the area creating fuel for potential forest fires. The controlled burns are helping remove some of the dead fall and other debris.
