There was not the budget to fill this vase with a large dome of long-lasting 'James Story' orchids, so I decided to create an asymmetrical design, filling-in with recycled branches of quince. It was important to keep the filigree orchid stems long to balance with the solid black spherical vase.

Most of the vase is filled with cellophane and cardboard to support a small metal container holding wet floral foam, helping to keep the weight down for ease of transportation.

I was probably a bit early with ordering Symphoricarpos (Snowberry) as the the berries were disappointingly small. I used the 'tree trunk' vases that I previously filled with white scabious.

At this time of year, our foliage supplier sells cut English Hydrangea. They are not as cultivated as the Dutch imports, but their lovely shades and uneven shapes are utterly charming.

Mom: Well, now here we were getting ready for a party because you see the punch bowl and the poofies on top.

This Vanda 'Black Magic'. Gorgeous!! The top layer of vases contained rolled leaves of 'Black Tie' to hide the water phials. Flexi grass in the vases supported the flowers so that they were all front facing.

These four pictures are a kind of 'sketch' of ideas I have for the press day for the A/W '09 collection at Louboutin. If they go for my proposal, I'll replace these pics with the final result, which will (hopefully) look more sophisticated, yet a bit quirky.

Koffman's at The Berkeley gave me a brief that I would describe as 'Chic Rustique'. It's great to get away from using 'flowery' flowers and use herbs, Angelica and Garlic flowers.

Another request for certain colours this week, which I narrowed down to green and orange, as I knew I would be able to carry it through with the vases. Not a colour combination I cover often, but it is one I rather like.

The use of blue and white was to meet a brief set by the hotel. They were hosting an event by Deutsch Bank, who wanted the flowers to match their corporate colours.

Mom: Now here he really looks like he's playing.

Me: This is in the bedroom?

Mom: Yes.

Me: And there's pictures of Tommy on the dresser.

Mom: Yeah, probably.

Me: None of Bobby yet?

Mom: No. Don't forget, we only had Bobby a month.

A tad dull at the Grove this week. We were asked to use blue flowers. Hydrangeas are quite expensive at this time of year, so my effort to use mixed shades of blue hydrangea didn't turn out as buxom as I would have liked, as I could use just five stems per vase.

I also forgot my tripod, so I could only take picture where I had a supporting surface!

Scilla has a slightly egg-shaped flower, which was emphasised by the addition of blue duck eggs, using celophane to hold them in place and prevent them falling in the water.
