This is the same big boy whose image I posted yesterday. He seemed very indecisive - obviously contemplating jumping down the bank to come to the water, but finally deciding not to.
Cloister, Abbaye de Senanque
The abbey was founded in the 12th century in a remote spot on the Durance river near Gordes. Stretching out from the abbey buildings is a valley of lavender fields.
The Cistercian order at the abbey flourished until the 16th century, becoming extremely wealthy. In 1544, the Vaudois heretics revolted, and attacked Senanque, hanging the monks and destroying many of the buildings. Over the next three centuries, the abbey struggled to survive, but now has a small community of monks in residence.
The cloister is a place for meditation and reading. An enclosed courtyard, suurrounded by four alleyways which open onto a garden, it also links all parts of the abbey. Each alleyway has twelve arches, and the capital of each column is decorated with a different flower or foliage design.
Taken at my grandmother’s funeral. She lived to be 96 years and 48 weeks old. Her favorite saying was, “Getting old is not for sissies.” Her smile and humor will be missed.

A comparison of two cameras and lenses. This one was taken by a Nikon D3 in DX mode shot in Program mode with Auto White balance and auto ISO (vs Leica M8 + Zeiss Biogon 2,8/25). If you are wondering why I didn’t ask him to shoot the same scene at the same focal distance it is because I believe the system affects how a person decides to shoot the shot. If you have a zoom, then it’s natural to use the zoom, for instance.
The system chose to do ISO 1600 and get a f/5 depth of field. I would have chosen f/2.8 and dropped the ISO down to 420. You can see that the image has very little noise at what used to be my maximal working ISO on my D70 adn D200.
There is no point in shooting on FX mode on with this lens as it vignettes at all focal lengths. Also, since it is a third party lens, the camera does not automatically shade the aperture, this has to be done in the custom menu.

My boyfriend Jeremy in a photo shoot for my grade 11 photo class.I wanted a sad and dark feel to this set of photos, which was based around the song Forgotton by Linkin Park. I think I love this one so much becasue of how the light has fallen on his check bones. <3
