Juvenile male wood duck in eclipse plumage. His eye is beginning to show a hint of red. Once he reaches maturity his eyes will be a striking shade of red and his plumage will be flamoyant shades of chestnut and green. Wildwood Park, Harisburg, Pennsylvania.
Utah is certainly the state of rugged beauty, outdoor activities, incredible geological wonders and Old West way of life. From adventurous Moab with its national treasures – the Arches National Park and the Canyonlands National Park, to the picturesque Rocky Mountain Basin. I love Utah!
.... my wife is doubtless thinking of our first granddaughter, born recently across the world in Canada
A cute female Maratus sp. (possibly M. plumosus which was abundant in the area) takes in her surroundings. They are such tiny things, making the gravel and small pebbles around them appear as boulders! Happy Arachtober 8 everyone! [Colo, NSW]
one of the local caretakers of the grandeur named the taj. he comes to the taj every day in the afternoon, sits lonely and performs a silent prayer.
My friend relaxing in front of Lake Sabrina in the Bishop area of the Eastern Sierra Range as the Milky Way rises up over the horizon.
As I was taking the photos I asked him what he was thinking, He said "absolutely nothing", he was just enjoying staring up at the starry night.

"One has to tiptoe lightly and steal up to one's quarry; you don't swish the water when you are fishing. I believe that, through the act of living, the discovery of oneself is made concurrently with the discovery of the world around us."

Cadillac Mountain is the highest coastal point on the East Coast of the United States, at 1,532 feet (~500m). Thousands ascend by car to the mountain's summit to see what they believe is the United States first sunrise and to see the rest of the island.

Our lovely holiday in Hickling seems like an age away now. Since our return home, Oldmangellyroo's health has not been at all good (a dicky ticker!) and he is now in hospital, so if you're wondering why I haven't been posting, or been out and about taking snaps then this is why. Probably comments and faves on your photos have been a bit random too, so apologies. Hopefully normal service will be returned in the future! Meanwhile, happy memories!
I have been playing about with the Monochrome vol 2 LR presets from www.olivejuiceshoppe.com. For this photo I used "bw [juno]" with "tint [sand]".
Lighting is from the window, hence the high ISO and therefore noise/grain.
