Part of a body of work I did during my BFA in Ceramics at the University of Oregon in the mid-1970s. Salt glazed stoneware with wooden tops covered in colored fabric with molding handles screwed on from underneath.
These were part of many experiments with mixed media to get the effect I wanted which was bright colors on high temperature ceramics (high temperature usually precludes bright colors so I did it with fabric).

This arrangement was from my lesson this week, using flowers that match or are in the same tonal range as the container. I bought this great continer at Hinkley Pottery's spring sale this year, and used japanese maple, peach hypericum berries and bronze mums.l

Because I couldn't find any store bought containers that were small enough for my bento, I have been using the ones you get with take-away food. That's not ideal because you're not supposed to reuse them :\ So they break easily.
