Impressions from an Ultra Large Container Vessel.

Come on bord of the "CMA CGM Alexander von Humboldt", a 16.020 TEU Containership and sail with me from Hamburg, Germany to Marsaxlokks, Malta via Rotterdan, Netherland and Le Havre, France.

You'll see imposing views from another world: The modern nautical and maritime world.

You'll see beautiful sunsets at Sea, busy dancing Containers hanging from the giant Gantry Cranes in the Ports, a huge number of differen animals in the Mediterranean Sea, the word biggest marine engine and much more.

The little walk from the long long Journey from Hamburg to the Far East (China, eastern Asia) was about twelve days, mostly accompanied by nice weather.

I hope, you'll enjoy the ride on bord of the ca. 396m long and 54m wide blue vessel, sailing nearly constant with 20 knots to the mediterranean Island.

A lot of history on the end of an old container.

The Deutsche Seereederei (DSR) was founded in 1952 in Rostock. The organisation controlled all shipping in the former German Democratic Republik (DDR / East Germany).

At its height in the 1970's it controlled about 200 vessels.

Senator Lines was founded in Bremen in 1985 and commenced operations in 1987 with a container round the world service. After starting cooperating in 1990, Senator merged with DSR in 1994 to form DSR-Senator, In 1997 DSR-Senator was in financial difficulties and Hanjin stepped in to take control.

The Korean carrier Hanjin was founded in 1977 but went bankrupt in 2017.

So this container is now a piece of maritime history
