Há o tempo de plantar e o tempo de colher. Todos nós temos presa para viver, nunca de morrer. Temos tempo para a internet, para um amigo, para brincar, para trabalhar, mas nunca temos tempo para parar e ajudar. Temos tempo para ver TV, ler jornais, um bom livro, mas nunca tempo para ler um pedido de ajuda.
Mas há quem não tem mais tempo. Quem não teve tempo de plantar. Quem mal tem tempo para brincar. Quem mal vai ter tempo de dizer: “Eu te amo mamãe, papai!!!”. Porque em algum lugar alguém não teve tempo para parar e ler essa mensagem, para procurar saber do que se tratava, sobre quem se estava falando, de procurar saber como poderia ajudar; já que quem deveria ajudar não acha tempo para isso, porque não acha importante, porque é um investimento que não tem retorno no curto espaço de tempo ou porque acha que seu tempo é valioso demais para gastar com quem não tem tanto tempo de vida assim.
Pare um momento. Procure se informar, ler, ajudar. Quem já conta os segundos para a despedida final vai agradecer de coração por esses poucos instantes de tempo, que você dedicou a elas.
Não deixe que o relógio das vidas delas pare só porque você não queria perder tempo. Ajude!!! Divulge!!! Dê corda nesses pequenos relógios de vida.

But there are the ones who don’t have any more time to lose. The ones who didn’t have time to plant. That barely have time to play. That won’t have time to say “I love you, mom, dad”. Because someone, somewhere didn’t have time to read this message, to try to know what it means, to try to know how to help. Because many times who could help don’t have the time, because it’s not an investment with short term interest or because thinks its time is too valuable to spend with somenone who doesn’t have that much time.
Stop for a moment.Try to read and get informed. The children that are about to say their goodbyes to life will be thankful for these few moments you took to help them.. Don’t let their life clocks stop just because you didn’t want to waste your time. Help them! Spread the word! Wind up these little life clocks

Hay momentos para sembrar, y otros para recoger la cosecha. Todos tenemos tiempo para vivir, nunca para morir. Tenemos tiempo para Internet, para un amigo, para jugar, para trabajar, pero nunca tenemos tiempo para detenernos y ayudar. Tenemos tiempo para ver Tele, leer periódicos, un buen libro, pero nunca tiempo para leer un pedido de ayuda.

Porque en algún lugar alguien no tuvo tiempo para detenerse a leer este mensaje, para tratar de entender de qué se trataba, de quién se estaba hablando, de entender cómo se podía ayudar; ya que quien debería ajudar no consigue tiempo para esto, porque no lo considera importante, porque es una inversión que no tiene retorno en un corto espacio de tiempo o porque cree que su tiempo es mucho más valioso como para gastarlo con quien no tiene tanto tiempo de vida.
Detente un momento. Procura Informarte, leer, ayudar.
Quienes cuentan los segundos para la despedida final van agradecer de corazón por ese gesto, por haber leido éstas líneas.
No dejes que el reloj de la vida de esas personas pare porque no querías perder tiempo.
Ayuda! Divulga! Dale cuerda a esas pequeñas manecillas del reloj de la vida!

Sans aide, ces enfants vont MOURIR
Il y a un temps pour planter et un temps pour récolter. Nous nous dépêchons tous de vivre, pas de mourir. Nous trouvons du temps pour l’Internet, pour nos amis, pour nous amuser, pour travailler mais jamais pour nous arrêter un instant et aider les autres. Nous trouvons le temps de regarder la télévision, de lire les journaux ou un bon livre mais jamais de lire un appel à l’aide.
Mais il y a ceux qui n’ont plus de temps à perdre. Ceux qui n’ont pas eu le temps de planter. Qui ont à peine le temps de jouer. Qui n’auront pas le temps de dire « Je vous aime, maman, papa » parce que quelqu’un, quelque part n’aura pas eu le temps de lire ce message, d’essayer de comprendre sa signification, de voir comment aider. Parce que beaucoup de gens qui pourraient aider n’ont pas le temps, parce que ce n’est pas un investissement rentable à court terme ou parce qu’ils pensent que leur temps est trop précieux pour le consacrer à des gens qui n’en ont plus pour longtemps.
Arrêtez-vous un instant. Essayez de lire, de vous informer. Les enfants qui sont sur le point de dire adieu à la vie vous seront reconnaissants des quelques moments que vous aurez pris pour les aider. Ne laissez pas le temps s’arrêter pour eux parce que vous ne vouliez pas perdre le votre. Aidez-les! Faites passer le message! Remontez les pendules de ces petites vies.

Em nome das 39 crianças com AIDS da IBCM e das 250 famílias assistidas, agradeço-lhe de coração.
Somos mais de 22 voluntári@s, igualmente pesaros@s com o fechamento da creche.
Nesta segunda-feira, graças à generosidade de muitas pessoas como vc, estaremos abrindo provisoriamente a creche, em regime de 1/2 turno (das 14 às 17h). Ainda não é o ideal, mas já ameniza a fome e o sofrimento destas crianças em grave situação de risco.
Obrigado pela sua generosidade. Divulgue a nossa causas e conte sempre com nossa gratidão e reconhecimento.

il y a longtemps j'ai été prof quelques semaines.. juste le temps de comprendre que mon rôle était de réaliser un formatage bas niveau sur mes élèves destiné à gommer toute différence entre eux et à les préparer à être soumis à une vie de travail sans contestation possible.. j'etais un collabo des puissants, un traître à l'éducation populaire et à l'emmancipation des peuples.. la récompense aurait pu me permettre d'occuper une place sociale respectable qui aurait pu gonfler mon égo mais elle n'a pas suffit, je préfère être vu comme un branleur voir un parasite que comme un traitre..

hace mucho tiempo fui profesor durante unas semanas... el tiempo suficiente para comprender que mi papel consistía en llevar a cabo un formateo de bajo nivel sobre mis alumnos destinado a borrar cualquier diferencia entre ellos y a prepararlos para ser sometidos a una vida laboral sin contestación posible. Fui un colaborador de los poderosos, un traidor a la educación popular y a la emancipación del pueblo... la recompensa podría haberme permitido ocupar una posición social respetable que podría haber inflado mi ego pero no fue suficiente, prefiero ser visto como un pajillero o un parásito que como un traidor....

Considéré comme l’un des plus grands philosophes de son temps, il a également enseigné l’économie, la philosophie naturelle, le grec et la logique et a été l’auteur de plusieurs ouvrages de philosophie, dont la philosophie de l’esprit humain. En 1792, Stewart publia Elements of the Philosophy of the Human Mind, un traité qui commence par une discussion sur la vue. This monument commemorates one of the last important figures of the Scottish Enlightenment, the philosopher and professor of moral philosophy at the University of Edinburgh (from 1786 until his death in 1828): Dugald Stewart (1753-1828). Há o tempo de plantar e o tempo de colher. Todos nós temos presa para viver, nunca de morrer. Temos tempo para a internet, para um amigo, para brincar, para trabalhar, mas nunca temos tempo para parar e ajudar. Temos tempo para ver TV, ler jornais, um bom livro, mas nunca tempo para ler um pedido de ajuda.
Mas há quem não tem mais tempo. Quem não teve tempo de plantar. Quem mal tem tempo para brincar. Quem mal vai ter tempo de dizer: “Eu te amo mamãe, papai!!!”. Porque em algum lugar alguém não teve tempo para parar e ler essa mensagem, para procurar saber do que se tratava, sobre quem se estava falando, de procurar saber como poderia ajudar; já que quem deveria ajudar não acha tempo para isso, porque não acha importante, porque é um investimento que não tem retorno no curto espaço de tempo ou porque acha que seu tempo é valioso demais para gastar com quem não tem tanto tempo de vida assim.
Pare um momento. Procure se informar, ler, ajudar. Quem já conta os segundos para a despedida final vai agradecer de coração por esses poucos instantes de tempo, que você dedicou a elas.
Não deixe que o relógio das vidas delas pare só porque você não queria perder tempo. Ajude!!! Divulge!!! Dê corda nesses pequenos relógios de vida.

Il y a un temps pour planter et un temps pour récolter. Nous nous dépêchons tous de vivre, pas de mourir. Nous trouvons du temps pour l’Internet, pour nos amis, pour nous amuser, pour travailler mais jamais pour nous arrêter un instant et aider les autres. Nous trouvons le temps de regarder la télévision, de lire les journaux ou un bon livre mais jamais de lire un appel à l’aide.
Mais il y a ceux qui n’ont plus de temps à perdre. Ceux qui n’ont pas eu le temps de planter. Qui ont à peine le temps de jouer. Qui n’auront pas le temps de dire « Je vous aime, maman, papa » parce que quelqu’un, quelque part n’aura pas eu le temps de lire ce message, d’essayer de comprendre sa signification, de voir comment aider. Parce que beaucoup de gens qui pourraient aider n’ont pas le temps, parce que ce n’est pas un investissement rentable à court terme ou parce qu’ils pensent que leur temps est trop précieux pour le consacrer à des gens qui n’en ont plus pour longtemps.
Arrêtez-vous un instant. Essayez de lire, de vous informer. Les enfants qui sont sur le point de dire adieu à la vie vous seront reconnaissants des quelques moments que vous aurez pris pour les aider. Ne laissez pas le temps s’arrêter pour eux parce que vous ne vouliez pas perdre le votre. Aidez-les! Faites passer le message! Remontez les pendules de ces petites vies.

Em nome das 39 crianças com AIDS da IBCM e das 250 famílias assistidas, agradeço-lhe de coração.
Somos mais de 22 voluntári@s, igualmente pesaros@s com o fechamento da creche.
Nesta segunda-feira, graças à generosidade de muitas pessoas como vc, estaremos abrindo provisoriamente a creche, em regime de 1/2 turno (das 14 às 17h). Ainda não é o ideal, mas já ameniza a fome e o sofrimento destas crianças em grave situação de risco.
Obrigado pela sua generosidade. Divulgue a nossa causas e conte sempre com nossa gratidão e reconhecimento.

Ils ont au moins une chance ; les malgaches ne les mangent pas.

Bac Ha (Vietnam) - Qui vend ? Qui achète ? Je n’en sais rien, je suis arrivé au moment ou des liasses de billets changeaient de mains. Seule certitude, plusieurs buffles sont au centre de la transaction. Après avoir pris cette photo, je suis resté une dizaine de minutes, pour tenter de comprendre ce qui se passait. Je crois que c’est la femme de l’ethnie des Hmong bleus, qui vendait deux bovins aux hommes. Je n’en suis cependant pas pleinement convaincu.
Je n’ai pas vu qui partait avec les buffles. Les protagonistes ont continué à discuter après la transaction, le bétail était probablement en attente d’un transfert en camion. Mais moi, j’étais parti depuis longtemps.

The only certainty is that several buffaloes were at the center of the transaction. I stayed for about ten minutes after taking this photo to try to understand what was happening. I think it was the Blue Hmong woman selling two cattle to the men. But I'm not 100% convinced.
I didn't see who left with the buffaloes. The protagonists stayed behind, the cattle having probably been transferred by truck. But I had left a long time ago.

Há o tempo de plantar e o tempo de colher. Todos nós temos presa para viver, nunca de morrer. Temos tempo para a internet, para um amigo, para brincar, para trabalhar, mas nunca temos tempo para parar e ajudar. Temos tempo para ver TV, ler jornais, um bom livro, mas nunca tempo para ler um pedido de ajuda.
Mas há quem não tem mais tempo. Quem não teve tempo de plantar. Quem mal tem tempo para brincar. Quem mal vai ter tempo de dizer: “Eu te amo mamãe, papai!!!”. Porque em algum lugar alguém não teve tempo para parar e ler essa mensagem, para procurar saber do que se tratava, sobre quem se estava falando, de procurar saber como poderia ajudar; já que quem deveria ajudar não acha tempo para isso, porque não acha importante, porque é um investimento que não tem retorno no curto espaço de tempo ou porque acha que seu tempo é valioso demais para gastar com quem não tem tanto tempo de vida assim.
Pare um momento. Procure se informar, ler, ajudar. Quem já conta os segundos para a despedida final vai agradecer de coração por esses poucos instantes de tempo, que você dedicou a elas.
Não deixe que o relógio das vidas delas pare só porque você não queria perder tempo. Ajude!!! Divulge!!! Dê corda nesses pequenos relógios de vida.

Sans aide, ces enfants vont MOURIR
Il y a un temps pour planter et un temps pour récolter. Nous nous dépêchons tous de vivre, pas de mourir. Nous trouvons du temps pour l’Internet, pour nos amis, pour nous amuser, pour travailler mais jamais pour nous arrêter un instant et aider les autres. Nous trouvons le temps de regarder la télévision, de lire les journaux ou un bon livre mais jamais de lire un appel à l’aide.
Mais il y a ceux qui n’ont plus de temps à perdre. Ceux qui n’ont pas eu le temps de planter. Qui ont à peine le temps de jouer. Qui n’auront pas le temps de dire « Je vous aime, maman, papa » parce que quelqu’un, quelque part n’aura pas eu le temps de lire ce message, d’essayer de comprendre sa signification, de voir comment aider. Parce que beaucoup de gens qui pourraient aider n’ont pas le temps, parce que ce n’est pas un investissement rentable à court terme ou parce qu’ils pensent que leur temps est trop précieux pour le consacrer à des gens qui n’en ont plus pour longtemps.
Arrêtez-vous un instant. Essayez de lire, de vous informer. Les enfants qui sont sur le point de dire adieu à la vie vous seront reconnaissants des quelques moments que vous aurez pris pour les aider. Ne laissez pas le temps s’arrêter pour eux parce que vous ne vouliez pas perdre le votre. Aidez-les! Faites passer le message! Remontez les pendules de ces petites vies.

Somos mais de 22 voluntári@s, igualmente pesaros@s com o fechamento da creche.
Nesta segunda-feira, graças à generosidade de muitas pessoas como vc, estaremos abrindo provisoriamente a creche, em regime de 1/2 turno (das 14 às 17h). Ainda não é o ideal, mas já ameniza a fome e o sofrimento destas crianças em grave situação de risco.
Obrigado pela sua generosidade. Divulgue a nossa causas e conte sempre com nossa gratidão e reconhecimento.

METAMORPHOSIS | Mixed Media, Digital Art, Video

Arts Sutton Gallery presents an exhibition of current works by Mary Bogdan and Ted Yudelson which deal with the theme of change or the hope of change. The two artists address the issue of personal evolution in their own unique way through their encounter with the creative process. Within the moments of incidental illuminations that occur along the way, each discovers hope for metamorphosis, leading to transformation and ultimately, transcendence.
The work involves the recycling, recovery, manipulation and alteration of “found” objects and demonstrates the pursuit of reinvention of self, of an approach to life or a way of being. It addresses the shaping of the self through the creation of art, both on a personal and collective level. The work looks at inner struggles and seeks a better understanding of self and its place in our society. It portrays a quest for healing – a way to undo the past or, at least, to understand the present and invent a better future.
Special Event: An Artist Talk by Mary Bogdan, Saturday, March 10th at 2 pm. No entry fee.
Curator: Kathy Feig
Mary Bogdan holds a bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Concordia University, and has participated in creative painting at the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts, and assemblage at the Visual Arts Centre. A graphic designer by profession, she is co-founder and partner of Crayon Design & Communication, a graphic design firm, with husband photographer, Sol Lang, and has won numerous international awards. Her paintings, assemblages and limited edition prints, as well as video, have been exhibited internationally and are in public and private collections.
Ted Yudelson holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from McGill University and has participated in sketching at McGill, stained glass at the Visual Arts Centre and pottery at the Gora Studio. An architect by profession, he is an Associate with the IBI Group, a multidisciplinary international design firm. Ted recently embarked on a project of assemblages, his first major body of work. The mixed media series, called Broken Promises, employs computer components as its primary element.

La Galerie Arts Sutton présente une exposition des oeuvres récentes de Mary Bogdan et Ted Yudelson. Celles-ci ont pour thème le changement ou l'espérance du changement. À leur manière unique, les deux artistes étudient la question de l'évolution personnelle dans leur processus de création. Chacun y découvre, lors de moments d'inspiration fortuite, l'espoir de la métamorphose qui mène vers le changement et finalement, vers la transcendance.
L'oeuvre consiste au recyclage, à la récupération, à la manipulation et à la modification d'objets «trouvés» et pas laquelle se manifeste la quête du renouvellement de soi, une façon d'aborder la vie ou une manière d'être. Cette création de l'art, tant au niveau personnel que collectif, modèle le «moi». L'oeuvre scrute les conflits intérieurs et cherche une meilleure compréhension du «moi» et de sa place dans la société. Elle dépeint la recherche de guérison – comment défaire le passé ou, à tout le moins, comment comprendre le présent et inventer un futur meilleur.
Événement spécial: Dans le cadre de l'exposition, une conférence avec Mary Bogdan est prévue le samedi 10 mars à 14h00. L'entrée est gratuite.
Commissaire: Kathy Feig
Mary Bogdan est diplômée des Beaux-arts de l'Université Concordia. Elle a suivi divers cours en peinture et en assemblage au Centre des arts Saidye Bronfman et au Centre des arts visuels de Montréal. Graphiste de profession, elle dirige avec son conjoint, le photographe Sol Lang, une entreprise de graphisme Crayon Design & Communication, laquelle s'est méritée de nombreux prix internationaux. Ses tableaux, assemblages, gravures à tirage limité et vidéo, sont exposés partout dans le monde et ses oeuvres font partie de collections privées et publiques.
Ted Yudelson est diplômé en architecture de l'Université McGill. Il a suivi des cours de dessin à McGill, de vitrail au Centre des arts visuels et de poterie au studio Gora. Architecte de profession, il est associé au Groupe IBI, une entreprise internationale de design multidisciplinaire. Tout récemment, Yudelson a entrepris un projet d'assemblage, sa première oeuvre majeure. Des composantes d'ordinateurs constituent les éléments de base de la série Promesses non-tenues (médias mixtes).

Je ne peux pas les entendre et encore moins les comprendre car ils parlent un dialecte local. Mais j’ai compris qu’ils négocient le prix d’un ou de plusieurs bovins. Dès qu’ils se parlent, ils regardent ailleurs. De long silences ponctuent la conversation.
Sur ce double portrait, l’homme à la couverture verte semble calculer mentalement si la proposition de son interlocuteur lui permettra de faire une bonne affaire. L’autre semble vouloir capter une approbation de son collègue en scrutant son regard .
Ils sont restés ainsi une vingtaine de minutes, puis se sont quittés avec un bonne poignée de mains. L’affaire semblait conclue. Moi, je suis passé à autre chose.

In this double portrait, the man with the green blanket seems to be mentally calculating whether the offer of his interlocutor will allow him to get a good deal. The other (in pink) seems to want to catch approval in his colleague's gaze.
They stayed like this for about twenty minutes, then parted with a good handshake. The deal seemed done.

Sans aide, ces enfants vont MOURIR
Il y a un temps pour planter et un temps pour récolter. Nous nous dépêchons tous de vivre, pas de mourir. Nous trouvons du temps pour l’Internet, pour nos amis, pour nous amuser, pour travailler mais jamais pour nous arrêter un instant et aider les autres. Nous trouvons le temps de regarder la télévision, de lire les journaux ou un bon livre mais jamais de lire un appel à l’aide.
Mais il y a ceux qui n’ont plus de temps à perdre. Ceux qui n’ont pas eu le temps de planter. Qui ont à peine le temps de jouer. Qui n’auront pas le temps de dire « Je vous aime, maman, papa » parce que quelqu’un, quelque part n’aura pas eu le temps de lire ce message, d’essayer de comprendre sa signification, de voir comment aider. Parce que beaucoup de gens qui pourraient aider n’ont pas le temps, parce que ce n’est pas un investissement rentable à court terme ou parce qu’ils pensent que leur temps est trop précieux pour le consacrer à des gens qui n’en ont plus pour longtemps.
Arrêtez-vous un instant. Essayez de lire, de vous informer. Les enfants qui sont sur le point de dire adieu à la vie vous seront reconnaissants des quelques moments que vous aurez pris pour les aider. Ne laissez pas le temps s’arrêter pour eux parce que vous ne vouliez pas perdre le votre. Aidez-les! Faites passer le message! Remontez les pendules de ces petites vies.

Somos mais de 22 voluntári@s, igualmente pesaros@s com o fechamento da creche.
Nesta segunda-feira, graças à generosidade de muitas pessoas como vc, estaremos abrindo provisoriamente a creche, em regime de 1/2 turno (das 14 às 17h). Ainda não é o ideal, mas já ameniza a fome e o sofrimento destas crianças em grave situação de risco.

Bang Saphan Yai (Thaïlande) - Comme personne ne parle anglais il était difficile pour moi de comprendre la cérémonie religieuse. Et comme les participants s’agitent en tous sens, il est également difficile de faire des photos cohérentes au grand-angle. Je décide de me concentrer sur des personnes en prière pour le reste de la série.

Bang Saphan Yai (Thailand) - As no one spoke English it was difficult for me to understand the religious ceremony. And since the participants were fidgeting in all directions, it was also difficult to take consistent photos at the wide-angle. I decided, for the rest of the series, to focus on people in prayer.
L'histoire de la photo .
Un haut-fond à près d'un kilomètre de la berge. Sur cet ilôt, 20 phoques gris s'y prélassent au soleil. Progressant lentement, j'y arrive après 30 minutes. Les jambes dans l'eau, je m'installe et photographie de beaux moments de ces mammifères marins ( femelles et jeunes ).
20 minutes à remplir la carte mémoire de ma caméra et un gros mâle arrive en trombe du large. Fier et dominant, il jette un oeil sur " son harem " et il m'aperçoit et pousse un grognement ...
La débandade ! En une fraction de seconde, vent de panique, tous les phoques s'en vont en eaux profondes.
Et ce petit qui ne semblait pas comprendre pourquoi j'étais une menace...

A shoal about one kilometer from the bank. On this island, 20 gray seals bask in the sun. Progressing slowly, I arrive after 30 minutes. Legs in the water, I settle and photograph beautiful moments of these marine mammals (females and young).
20 minutes to fill the memory card of my camera and a big male comes flying in the sea. Proud and dominant, he takes a look at "his harem" and he sees me and grunts ...
The rout! In a fraction of a second, panic, all the seals go to deep waters.
And this little one who did not seem to understand why I was a threat ...

Porque en algún lugar alguien no tuvo tiempo para detenerse a leer este mensaje, para tratar de entender de qué se trataba, de quién se estaba hablando, de entender cómo se podía ayudar; ya que quien debería ajudar no consigue tiempo para esto, porque no lo considera importante, porque es una inversión que no tiene retorno en un corto espacio de tiempo o porque cree que su tiempo es mucho más valioso como para gastarlo con quien no tiene tanto tiempo de vida.
Detente un momento. Procura Informarte, leer, ayudar.
Quienes cuentan los segundos para la despedida final van agradecer de corazón por ese gesto, por haber leido éstas líneas.

Sans aide, ces enfants vont MOURIR
Il y a un temps pour planter et un temps pour récolter. Nous nous dépêchons tous de vivre, pas de mourir. Nous trouvons du temps pour l’Internet, pour nos amis, pour nous amuser, pour travailler mais jamais pour nous arrêter un instant et aider les autres. Nous trouvons le temps de regarder la télévision, de lire les journaux ou un bon livre mais jamais de lire un appel à l’aide.
Mais il y a ceux qui n’ont plus de temps à perdre. Ceux qui n’ont pas eu le temps de planter. Qui ont à peine le temps de jouer. Qui n’auront pas le temps de dire « Je vous aime, maman, papa » parce que quelqu’un, quelque part n’aura pas eu le temps de lire ce message, d’essayer de comprendre sa signification, de voir comment aider. Parce que beaucoup de gens qui pourraient aider n’ont pas le temps, parce que ce n’est pas un investissement rentable à court terme ou parce qu’ils pensent que leur temps est trop précieux pour le consacrer à des gens qui n’en ont plus pour longtemps.
Arrêtez-vous un instant. Essayez de lire, de vous informer. Les enfants qui sont sur le point de dire adieu à la vie vous seront reconnaissants des quelques moments que vous aurez pris pour les aider. Ne laissez pas le temps s’arrêter pour eux parce que vous ne vouliez pas perdre le votre. Aidez-les! Faites passer le message! Remontez les pendules de ces petites vies.

Somos mais de 22 voluntári@s, igualmente pesaros@s com o fechamento da creche.
Nesta segunda-feira, graças à generosidade de muitas pessoas como vc, estaremos abrindo provisoriamente a creche, em regime de 1/2 turno (das 14 às 17h). Ainda não é o ideal, mas já ameniza a fome e o sofrimento destas crianças em grave situação de risco.

Temos tempo para a internet, para um amigo, para brincar, para trabalhar, mas nunca temos tempo para parar e ajudar. La Villa Balat a été construite en 1906 à la demande d’Adolphine et Joséphine Balat, les nièces d’Alphonse Balat, architecte très apprécié du roi des Belges Léopold II et mentor du pape belge de l’Art Nouveau, Victor Horta. On lui doit notamment les Serres royales de Laeken et le Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles. Située en bord de Meuse, au pied de la nouvelle passerelle cyclo-piétonne « l’Enjambée », reliant Jambes à Namur, la Villa Balat offre une vue plongeante sur la Citadelle et le Parlement wallon. Elle fut rachetée en 2016 par les propriétaires actuels, Muriel et Bernard, qui lui redonnèrent son éclat d’antan.
L’histoire de cette fresque, c’est d’abord une rencontre entre Muriel et Démosthène Stellas, artiste namurois spécialisé dans la peinture murale et fondateur du collectif Drash, actif dans les domaines du son et de l’image. Fruit d’une longue maturation, le projet put bénéficier d’un subside communal. Il s’inscrit dans le parcours d’art urbain « L’Art dans la Ville », mis en place depuis 2014. Son but ? Favoriser l’accès à la culture pour tous par le biais du street art entre autres. La fresque de Démosthène s’ajoute à une série d’oeuvres, dont les sculptures d’Isaac Cordal et les Fourmis géantes de Nicolas Eres
Tout d’abord, la période artistique dans laquelle baignait Alphonse Balat fut le socle fondateur de la fresque. Les débuts de l’Art Nouveau ont marqué le discours de l’architecte: » Simplifiez, simplifiez encore, simplifiez toujours et quand vous aurez tout simplifié, vous n’aurez pas encore assez simplifié « , un lien évident avec l’architecture contemporaine de l’Enjambée. Ensuite, les « Essentielles » du photographe allemand Karl Blossfeldt, une série de variétés végétales en gros plan des années 30, inspirèrent l’esthétique. Pour finir, la palette des verts fut choisie pour des raisons techniques: la couche de fond utilisée par Démosthène est une peinture minérale naturelle où les teintes criantes n’existent pas et puis, le vert était un ton à la mode à la Belle Epoque. Quant aux raisons créatives, il suffit d’admirer la richesse de la végétation et les humeurs changeantes de notre belle Meuse pour le comprendre …

J’ai cru comprendre que finalement, il n’y en probablement pas d’organisation formelle. Les pêcheurs partent pêcher quand bon leur semble. J’ai constaté que majoritairement, ils préfèrent travailler la nuit, avec une simple lampe frontale pour se diriger. En revanche, quand une tempête tropicale est annoncée, tout le monde reste sur le rivage. Les pêcheurs sont des travailleurs acharnés, mais pas suicidaires.

Fort-Dauphin (Madagascar) - While the day of these fishermen ends, when night falls others will take over and go to sea.
In the Fort-Dauphin cove, after more than 10 days of observation, the organization of the tides remains a mystery. I understood that in the end, there is probably no formal organization. Fishermen go to sea whenever they want. I noticed that the majority prefer to work at night, with a simple headlamp to guide them. On the other hand, when a tropical storm is forecast, everyone stays on the shore. Fishermen are hard workers, but not suicidal.

Une visite atypique dans les divers bâtiments abritant les oeuvres.
Au départ, vous vous rendez au bureau où vous recevez un plan, ensuite vous vous promenez seul entre et dans les bâtiments en ce compris au rez-de-chaussée des silos à grain et souvent vous devez entrer un code numérique pour y entrer.
Nous n'avons pas cherché à comprendre les oeuvres d'art moderne et je n'ai pas beaucoup de noms d'artistes, il suffit d'admirer et de se concentrer sur l'aspect photographie.
En tous cas, nous avons passé un bon moment.

An atypical visit to the various buildings housing the works.
Initially, you go to the office where you receive a plan, then you walk alone between and in the buildings including the ground floor of the grain silos and often you have to enter a numerical code to enter them.
We didn't try to understand modern artworks and I don't have many names of artists, just admire and focus on the photography aspect.

Considéré comme l’un des plus grands philosophes de son temps, il a également enseigné l’économie, la philosophie naturelle, le grec et la logique et a été l’auteur de plusieurs ouvrages de philosophie, dont la philosophie de l’esprit humain. En 1792, Stewart publia Elements of the Philosophy of the Human Mind, un traité qui commence par une discussion sur la vue. Fort-Dauphin (Madagascar) - Ce qui m'intéresse dans cette scène c'est le piroguier en bas du cadre, appuyé sur sa pagaie. Le reste n'est qu'un habillage. Les pirogues sont cependant bienvenues car elles permettent de comprendre que l'homme est un piroguier qui attend -probablement- une pêcheur qui regagne le rivage.
Il est à noter que contrairement aux apparences, cette photo a été prise tôt le matin. Il ne s'agit donc pas d'un coucher de soleil.
Fort-Dauphin (Madagascar) - What interests me in this scene is the canoeist at the bottom of the frame, leaning on his paddle. The rest is just decoration. The canoes are however welcome because they allow us to understand that the man is a canoeist who is -probably- waiting for a fisherman returning to the shore.
It should be noted that contrary to appearances, this photo was taken early in the morning. So it's not a sunset.

Encore une démonstration si besoin en était qu'il ne faut jamais se fier aux apparences. J'étais dans la manifestation normande jeudi 16 février et si le nombre des contestataires était effectivement en baisse par rapport au rassemblement de samedi dernier, il y avait encore pas mal de monde, malgré les vacances scolaires.
Cette photo a été prise alors que je venais de quitter par anticipation la manifestation. La lumière était bonne, mais j’étais sans doute en manque d’inspiration.
Je ne sais pas si ces militants cherchaient un bar ouvert, mais eux aussi venaient de quitter le cortège bien avant la fin de la manifestation qui était à l’arrêt, 500 mètres plus haut.
La composition est ce qu’elle est car l'officier de police m’a aimablement fait comprendre qu’il ne voulait pas être pris en photo. Rien de tel pour m’inciter à déclencher, sans pouvoir attendre « l’instant décisif ».
Decline in mobilization?

Another demonstration, if needed, that appearances should never be trusted. I was in the Normandy demonstration on Thursday February 16 and if the number of protesters was indeed down compared to last Saturday's rally, there were still a lot of people, despite the school holidays.
This photo was taken when I had just left the demonstration in anticipation. The light was good, but I was probably lacking inspiration.
I don't know if these activists were looking for an open bar, but they too had just left the procession well before the end of the demonstration which was at a standstill, 500 meters above.
The composition is what it is because the policeman kindly made it clear to me that he did not want to be photographed. Nothing like it to encourage me to trigger, without being able to wait for "the decisive moment".

elle va comprendre la tiote ce qu'est la vie.
Le pot de cet VW est un peut le reflet de la vie, sa te gueule dans les oreilles et sa te pollue.
Elle est partie minimum pour 14 ans d'études à se faire rabâcher des ordres par des Mr ou Me qui se croient plus malin que tout le monde.
On oublie pas les leçons, les devoirs, les moqueries, les cours de sport etc.....
C'est compliqué d'être gamin à notre époque, il faut savoir jongler avec pleins de choses.
J'ai eu de la chance à mon époque, j'ai su m'en sortir sans trop de séquelles.
Mandvi (Inde) - Le système habituel pour construire un navire est l’utilisation d’une cale sèche ( aussi appelée « forme »). Ici à défaut d‘un tel système on travaille au gré des marées et on bricole des étais pour que les futurs mastodontes des mers se maintiennent en équilibre.
En m’approchant de ce navire, pour comprendre comment les charpentiers utilisaient des poutres et des planches pour maintenir le boutre d’aplomb, j’ai réalisé que les ouvriers vivaient avec leurs familles, au rythme de l’avancement des travaux.
Ces familles travaillent, mangent et dorment sur le chantier. Certains ont construit de petite cabanes à proximité (hors champs), mais les plus précaires résident sous le navire, comme l’atteste l’enfant sur la gauche qui lave des légumes. Je sais que ce sont des légumes car je suis allé voir. Les matelas sont plus loin sous la coque.
J’ai demandé au capitaine avec qui j’avais sympathisé, pourquoi des enfants vivaient sur le chantier ? Selon ses explications, la construction des plus grandes unités, peut prendre jusqu’à 5 ans. De nombreux ouvriers viennent de très loin et n’ayant pas les moyens de repartir dans leurs villages d’origine, ils préfèrent venir avec femmes et enfants. Et toujours selon le capitaine, de nombreux enfants sont conçus et naissent sur place. Nous restons dans la « normalité » indienne.
Family life under ships
Mandvi (India) - The usual system for building a ship is the use of a drydock (also called a "form"). Here, in the absence of such a system, we work with the tides and we tinker with props so that the future mastodons of the seas can stay in balance.
As I approached this ship, to understand how the carpenters used beams and planks to keep the dhow plumb, I realized that the workers lived with their families, as the work progressed.
These families work, eat and sleep on the construction site. Some have built small huts nearby, but the most precarious live under the ship, as evidenced by the child on the left washing vegetables. I know they are vegetables because I went to see. The mattresses are further under the shell.
I asked the captain with whom I had sympathized, why children lived on the site? According to his explanations, the construction of the largest units can take up to 5 years. Many workers come from far away and do not have the means to return to their villages of origin, they prefer to come with women and children. And still according to the captain, many children are conceived and born on the spot. We remain within the Indian "normality".

Pas vers la Lumière
Monter lentement, comme si on émergeait d'un tunnel long et sombre,
monter vers le haut, vers la lumière au bout.
C'est ainsi que je me sens depuis longtemps. Une sorte de
sensation générale. Il semble que beaucoup de gens autour de moi
sont au même endroit.
Un sentiment lourd.
Mais au bout, on voit la lumière.
Parce que mon choix est de relever la tête,
de regarder en avant,
de comprendre qu'il y a quelque chose d'autre là-bas, et si je continue
j'y arriverai.
Pas vers la lumière.
Pour recommencer.
