September Mothing 17/09/18 to 29/09/18
Here are all of the highlights from mid to the end of September in my garden to my 125w MV Robinson Trap.
Garden species count for 2018 now upto 518.
Below are the highlights and new for year species.
Catch Report - Back Garden - Stevenage - 1x 125w MV Robinson Trap
Donacaula forficella - 02/09/18 - Missed from previous posts, not common and my third garden record so really welcome. I use to pick this species up commonly at wetland reserves where the habitat is more suitable.
Brindled Green - 15/09/18 - An absoloute beauty of a Brindled Green greeted me on Sunday morning, box fresh and worthy of a few photographs. I also caught a few more in the weeks following, some were rather grey in appearance in contrast.
Swallow-tailed Moth - 17/09/18 - This record at the time of recording was a very late record for me, my latest in fact, but since there have been many many more people recording late moths this year, more than ever before! Or are there more people suddenly recording moths these days with the advent of social media? Who knows.
Beaded Chestnut - 17/09/18 - A regular species here in my garden, and many different forms were recorded over the following weeks of which I took pleasure of photographing.
Deep-brown Dart - 17/09/18 - Never common here with just 4 previous records, in fact..2018 was the best year for it with 3 records alone.
Spruce Carpet - 17/09/18 - A season first, generally I record these in the Spring as well as the Autumn, slightly more regular than Gre-pine here. Still waiting for Pine mind!
Treble Brown Spot - 18/09/18 - My latest record of this species by a week exactly, nice and fresh as well and surely a 3rd brooder having recorded these in early June and again in August.
Diplodoma laichartingella - 18/09/18 - Second garden record and a larval record this rime after trapping the adult last year in June. Scarce here in Herts so very pleasing indeed.
Brick - 19/09/18 - Getting fairly common here in my garden and a moth that is maybe on the increase? A few years back it appeared to almost disappear even in prime habitat.
Dark Chestnut 19/09/18 - I like Dark Chestnut, it's an unusual dark looking moth with a real shine to it's wings. Most often encountered in the Autumn with just one record in the Spring here in 6 years.
Grey-pine Carpet - 19/09/18 - Another moth that appears in Spring after emerging in Autumn and over-wintering, never as common as Spruce so very welcome.
Large Ranunculus - 22/09/18 - Is Mr consistent here in my garden, always appearing between the 18th and 22nd of September since 2012 and flying for just 2 weeks usually, i've had upto 5 in one night before, this year they weren't as common unfortunately...just two made it to my trap.
Green-brindled Crescent - 25/09/18 - Another good looking moth and one that has a metallic green form and a darker brown form, common here in my garden.
Merveille du Jour - 25/09/18 - Probably the best looking moth here in the UK I reckon and an annual visitor to my trap here. I'm lucky to have mature Oaks at the end of my garden along the bridleway so I always get these in good numbers.
Mallow - 26/09/18 - Quite a unique species this, broad-winged and with a lovely pattern across it's wings. An annual visitor here, usually one per year.
Pandemis corylana & Pandemis cerasana - 26/09/18 - Both very late records, cerasana even later than corylana as this is a June moth here, it's rare to record both of these species as 2nd broods for me.
Caloptilia semifascia - 26/09/18 - Recorded in April earlier on in the year, it was nice to get a seasonal record of this species.
Common Marbled Carpet - 27/09/18 - A third brood of this species again isn't common here, but it was the same story across a lot of the Country with really late records that were still being reported in the first week of November!
Ruby Tiger - 27/09/18 - My latest record of Ruby Tiger by 23 days! I've recorded the Caterpillars at the end of September before, they always seem to get attracted to the MV light strangely. This adult though was in beautiful condition. I get them infrequently here in the garden, single-brooded in July.
My earliest record ever was on the 12th of March! In fact I have two March records and interestingly both were found flying on a warm sunny afternoon.
Cydalima perspectalis - 27/09/18 - Third garden record of this adventive pest species (with 2 records last year). It's certainly on the increase and spreading like Oak Processionary and Jersey Tiger are from the Thames Estuary and areas such as Richmond Park in central London. Another 3 more records were added at the start of October taking my garden total to 6.
Yellow-line Quaker - 29/09/18 - The first of the two common Autumnal Quaker's turns up bang on time, fairly common and were still hanging on a week ago here.

Waves of coarse sand lead up to some arid mountains in the background of this desert scene.
After much time away, I've decided to post. I'm now spending much more time on IG. Stretching my creative side with this collage of artsy images from a recent trip to Croatia. (c) 2019
Arranged by me then printed by my teacher on a big glossy poster sized paper with the school's equipment. Most AWESOME. It's 5 separate drawings made into one.

The office buidling is located in Brainpark III, the latest office park in Rotterdam. The design of the building fits the surrounding area and the urban planner's demands for a modernist-rationalist architectural approach. The entrance of the building is slightly lifted form the street level. The entrance can be reached via a monumental staircase. Parking is located in a garage under the building, hidden from view by grass slopes. The facade of the building is made up of brickwork, stucco and large glass windows.

She was a beauty--a gold 45 goddess for sure! A Gold 45 Goddess exalts the archetypal form of Athena--the Greek Goddess of wisdom, warfare, strategy, heroic endeavour, handicrafts and reason. A Gold 45 Goddess guards the beauty of dx4/dt=ic and embodies 45SURF's motto "Virtus, Honoris, et Actio Pro Veritas, Amor, et Bellus, (Strength, Honor, and Action for Truth, Love, and Beauty," and she stands ready to inspire and guide you along your epic, heroic journey into art and mythology. It is Athena who descends to call Telemachus to Adventure in the first book of Homer's Odyssey--to man up, find news of his true father Odysseus, and rid his home of the false suitors, and too, it is Athena who descends in the first book of Homer's Iliad, to calm the Rage of Achilles who is about to draw his sword so as to slay his commander who just seized Achilles' prize, thusly robbing Achilles of his Honor--the higher prize Achilles fought for. And now Athena descends once again, assuming the form of a Gold 45 Goddess, to inspire you along your epic journey of heroic endeavour.

Proper club music compilations as opposed to mainstream cash-ins. It's weird how poorly the artwork reflects the contents. Nowadays you'd just slap a big smiley on all of them.
'Upfront 10' is a marvel. It captures the atmosphere of London clubland c. March 1988, when something was happening but hadn't gone overground or really been named yet - which is often the best moment in any scene.
Dance compilation cassettes often had extra tracks and 'megamixes' to equalize the running time of both sides. They were better value than the vinyl versions, in that regard. The 'Mad on Acid Megamix' is perhaps the best I've heard - a dizzying blast of cut-up samples and house as good as the tracks it is made out of.

End of school cookies from a teacher to her students. Apples and pencils with some individual names as well. I designed the packaging really quickly and printed it and cut it. Took a looooong time but worth it to me.

The compilation of 52 weeks worth of photography. So much learned over the past year and so much has changed. I started 2012 with the resolution of being a 'Yes Man,' being under the impression it might open some doors for me and enlighten me to some new things and people, I had not imagined I would meet someone quite as special as I have done.
A compilation of images of the BMW Z4 by myself and fellow photographer HaranB. Very simply put together in photoshop by me.

From the official Bio
The Upper Crust played their first show in the back room of a Cambridge, Massachusetts bar one Monday night in 1994.
Not for a moment did they or anyone else imagine that-more than a decade later-they would be comfortably enshrined in
the pantheon of rock stardom, polishing their platform shoes to kick it up a notch with their newly remixed, remastered
collection of stellar hits “Cream of the Crust.”
The original band concept was simple and loaded with comic potential: Young fellows singing about the joys and sorrows
of the only life they knew, like numberless youths since the dawn of rock and roll… only these lads are filthy rich and
theirs is a life of appalling self-indulgence, entitlement and privilege. The result was seen in instant classics like “Let
Them Eat Rock,” “Little Lord Fauntleroy,” and “We're Finished With Finishing School.” Like any other concept band, the
odds against longevity seemed loaded. No one has been more surprised then they themselves to find that the public's
appetite and affection for the Upper Crust, far from diminishing, has grown more insatiable with every passing year.
It was not long before the band's image resolved into sharper focus, as they adopted the dress and personae of members of
the 18th century European aristocracy in powdered wigs and knee breeches, and the identities Jackie Kickassis (drums),
Lord Bendover (guitar, vocals) the Duc d'Istortion (guitars, vocals). Original members Lord Rockingham and the Marquis
du Rocque left to pursue other careers and were replaced by the vastly talented Count Bassie (bass, vocals).
The Crust appeared on Conan O'Brien, played with Aerosmith, earned accolades in national press (Vogue, GQ, etc.). They
released three studio CDs and one live CD on various independent labels. They won the love and devotion of an ever-
growing legion of fans, among them many music and show-business celebrities like Joan Jett, Steven Tyler and daughter
Liv, Steve Jones (Sex Pistols), Tenacious D, etc.; people who could appreciate the nuances of their art with its peculiar
blend of head-banging hard-rock, comedy, and theater.
Preferring the lavish comforts of their stately homes and disliking the hardships of the road, for several years they played
mainly East Coast shows and spot tours, where they would fly to England, New Orleans or Los Angeles for one or two
shows. In this way they succeeded in avoiding the demands of celebrity while enjoying its perquisites.
But now the time has come for them to claim their due, and with the aid of famed producers Sean Slade and Paul Q.
Kolderie, they've remixed and remastered a compilation of 18 of their greatest hits. Cream of the Crust is released in
collaboration with Redeye Distribution.
The band has been feverishly active since September, hitting such diverse markets as Raleigh, N.C., Milwaukee, Chicago,
Cleveland, Boston, Providence, R.I., New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore. Next, they contemplate a full West Coast
tour and a more detailed Southern itinerary, and are entertaining offers from European promoters.
A live Upper Crust DVD entitled “Horse & Buggery” will be issued by Reptilian Records of Baltimore in November
to celebrate the label's 17th anniversary.
An animated appearance on the Comedy Channel's “Code Name: Kids Next Door” is scheduled for this winter (date
to be determined).
Press activity is already swelling, with forthcoming spreads in several national publications.
The band will be doing extensive radio and press promotion is available for interviews, in-store appearances and all other
publicity.
