Manivannan walks around with just one leg, dreaming of a day when he can walk as normally as before. Tragedy struck Manivannan at the age of 10 — he met with an accident that cost him his left leg.
Manivannan hails from a small village in Usilampatti, Madurai. “I never remember being with my father,” he says. He lost his father when he was just a little child. It was his widowed mother who took care of him and his 2 brothers.
Ever since his accident, he doesn’t go to school. The thought of having become lame struck him like a blow and affected him badly.
Thanks to his sponsor (ID no. 0114), Manivannan got a new lease of life. The staff at the project encouraged him and he was put back in school. He showed good interest in studies and always stood first in his class.
The artificial limp that he received from World Vision has helped him walk normally, just like before. “My joy knew no bounds to see myself walking with both my legs,” says Manivannan with a deep sense of gratitude.
The constant motivation by the staff at the project helped him secure 431 out of 500 in 10th std. examinations – standing first in his school. Now, he is doing 11th.
“Without the support of my sponsor, I am sure I would not have been what I am today,” Manivannan adds.
Your little act of kindness spells new life to children like Manivannan.
