This newly constructed 5-plex in Pond Inlet stands as a vibrant symbol of community investment and support, made possible by the taxpayers of Canada.
With its bright orange exterior and modern design, the building provides essential housing in one of the country’s most remote Arctic communities. Set against the dramatic backdrop of snow-covered mountains, it reflects a commitment to improving infrastructure and quality of life in Nunavut’s northern settlements.
Actually, it's not a lake at all. This is Swift Creek Reservoir. My parents happen to live right next to it, so I made the most of my weekend visit to their house by getting up early on Sunday morning for a little photography. The area surrounding the reservoir is very heavily developed (there's a house out of the frame to the left, and I was actually standing in someone's backyard when I took this), but there are still bits of it that look mostly untouched.
This is very dear to my heart. I received my gift catalog today and thought I would share. No matter what holiday you celebrate this winter we can all make a difference...

Another shot of Swift Creek Reservoir. I took some shots of this spot earlier in the morning when there was more mist, but on my way home I noticed the rising sun was hitting the trees and decided it made a much better photo.
As I noted before, the area around the lake is very heavily developed. The 4 boats in the photo each belong to people living in houses just behind the trees.
