6th August 2009 - Taking a breather from all of the snowboarding, my friends decided to go to Puzzling World in Wanaka, New Zealand, a place filled with puzzles, illusions, and more puzzles.

Upon entering, you're greeted with this structure. You can't see it, but on the up-facing side, is a clock face that counts backward.

Marion High School fans braved the cold weather in blankets, down jackets and knit pom pom hats to watch the football came on Friday night. The temperature at kick off was 27 degrees.

I made a few alterations including: I subbed orzo for egg noodles, added fresh ginger and used chicken broth rather than their chicken base.

It's pretty tasty and guaranteed to get your nose running.

Rescuer (rear) prepares to assist victim (foreground) out of the ice. The gumby suits provide bouyancy and maintain body temperature and dryness during time in the water. Notice the smiles. These emergency responders are actually having fun.

It seems like we go along unfazed by the cold until one morning we wake up to a blanket of crisp white. Yesterday morning was that morning.

With the frost comes a new season in the garden. I can now begin cleaning out the remnants of summer and start putting the garden to bed. I’m always reluctant to admit that winter is near until I witness the death blow that comes inevitable by surprise some morning.

This is photo #2 in my object study.

Today is the last day of my free print giveaway, enter here!

We had our first snow here this week. At first I was apprehensive of going out in it but I eventually my love of taking photos overrode my anxiety about the increased fall risk. I bundled up and took my time and about half an hour in realized it was a year ago to the day I broke my leg. I’m pretty proud that I took those steps on that day in particular. Definitely something to celebrate!

This was in the cold last weekend on a short walk round my local reservoir. This poor chap was obviously hungry and cold as he kept fluttering up in front of me.

Nest time I'll make sure I have some grated cheese so as not to disappoint him.

You can see my reflection in his eye!
