This was in the cold last weekend on a short walk round my local reservoir. This poor chap was obviously hungry and cold as he kept fluttering up in front of me.
Nest time I'll make sure I have some grated cheese so as not to disappoint him.
You can see my reflection in his eye!

It seems like we go along unfazed by the cold until one morning we wake up to a blanket of crisp white. Yesterday morning was that morning.
With the frost comes a new season in the garden. I can now begin cleaning out the remnants of summer and start putting the garden to bed. I’m always reluctant to admit that winter is near until I witness the death blow that comes inevitable by surprise some morning.

The big news of the day is how cold it is outside. They claim it is the coldest day in 15 years.
The photo is of my computer screen when I left for work at 7:30am. I have a program that tells the outside temperature and it was 3 degrees in Alton, Illinois. BRRRRRR!!!!

Temperature maybe in the 50s, a gentle rain that chills you to the bone ... why aren't the people who own these boats out on the Ohio River today? They would have it all to themselves.

I had planned on staying a couple of hours down by Hammersmith Bridge today, firstly getting some daytime long exposure shots, and then experimenting with light-trails across the bridge. I didn't last too long though as it was so cold my fingers started turning blue despite wearing thick gloves!
I'll try another attempt when this cold snap gives up.
