"A typical suburban street scene in the winter snow... tyre tracks in the snow lead the eye up the street at night... an orange glow falls across the white from the street lamps... the residents are all asleep"

Early morning in Lucerne, and I took this as an opportunity to see Pilatus to see its state and if I could capture some of the wildlife you can find there, I ended up with this picture that showed how cold it was in my opinion. #Architecture #Snow #Winter #ColdTemperature #Indoors #Bridge #Railing #Outdoors #Building #lucerne #switzerland #mount_pilatus #frozen_world #frozen_landscape #frozen2

Als Baumpilze werden im weitesten Sinne alle Pilze bezeichnet, die Holz besiedeln und abbauen (Xylobionten).
Polypores are a group of fungi that form fruiting bodies with pores or tubes on the underside.
“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated” Confucius. Motivation to do something is a strange thing. It comes in impulsive waves of intense focus, burns bright for a while, and eventually fades like the flickering light of a candle. Before you know it there are too many other fires burning around you to notice the light from that lone fading candle. One has to periodically turn off all the lights in order to appreciate the smaller flames and breathe new life into them. I took this shot of an ice fishing hut on the lake in front of our house. People often wonder what could possibly motivate someone to head out in -30C (-22F) to stare at a small hole in the ice for days on end. It’s just their way of turning off the lights, so they can see what’s important in life. Love Life, Love Photography
Sometimes you can find beauty in such frigid cold...
Six intriguing trees atop a snowy rolling hillside at sunset in -10°F weather. Located in rural Wisconsin.
Unfortunately, I can not remember where I took this photo. But it must have been somewhere between Mallaig and Fort William. It was not just a beautiful trip. We had just left the wonderful Isle of Skye and were traveling by car to our next station in Scotland. During the trip we saw practically only fog, low hanging clouds and a lot of rain. I could nothing see of the landscapes. That was really bad and made me very sad, because this track is just famous for their beauty. It's also the railway line of the famous Jacobite Steam Train. This line was used in the filming of the "Harry Potter" movies. At some point I stopped the car and sought protection from the rain under the roof of the car trunk. From there I made this photo. Well, you can not see much, but I think it was worth to made it! I hope you like it :-)

A shot taken a week before Ness Lake froze of some Trumpeter Swans who were passing though on their annual migration. Interestingly these swans are actually flying North to winter over on the Crooked River north of Prince George where warm springs keep parts of the river open all year. The trumpeter swan (Cygnus buccinator) is the heaviest living bird native to North America and the largest waterfowl in the world with a wingspan that can exceed 10 ft (3.0 m). In Elgol (Isle of Skye) you could book a boat trip to a seal colony. As soon as we heard about it we had the idea "Let's go there!" It was not just a beautiful day. All the day it rained and it was pretty dark and gloomy. Nevertheless, we take this boat trip despite the bad weather. On the way to the colony, I could see these magnificent mountains on Isle of Skye, which were devoured right of low-lying clouds. A true spectacle. I hope you like it :-)

Mount Colin (2687 m or 8815 ft) in Jasper National Park. The mountain was named after Colin Fraser the explorer. Alberta, Canada
Our first morning in Yellowstone National Park during the Perfect Light Winter Yellowstone workshop. We stopped at this spot along the Madison River and we we all scrambled out of the snow coach to get in position for the sunrise. Even though it was snowing a bit and the sky was almost 100% covered with clouds, we stuck it out in 15F air with our feet in about a foot of fresh snow. A bit after the time of sunrise, the clouds to the east broke open and we had this scene before us.
Thanks to Tyler Hofelich for giving me a tip that he was witnessing them up near Tiffin. I quickly grabbed my gear and headed North. Made it to Marion before a low cloud deck swooped in and light pillars were born! Its still amazing to me what our atmosphere is capable of doing. Glad I made the trek up there to witness these!
Black Tusk's ice-crusted north face (2319 m, 7608 ft) towers over a stunning vista of barren volcanic rock formations and an infinite field of snow-capped mountain peaks, huge icefields, glacier-fed crater lakes and dense mountain rainforests.
The Tantalus Range and jagged spine of Serratus Mountain loom in a spectacular alpine backdrop. Garibaldi Provincial Park, Coast Mountains, British Columbia. POV from a high point on Blackcomb Peak.
A gradual uphill summer hike (9 km, 5.5 miles) to the base passes through a dense mountain rainforest and volcanic boulder field to a deep subalpine basin and crater lake. A couple of days to explore the lush alpine meadows, streams, waterfalls, glaciers, icefields and other peaks in the larger volcanic field.
Black Tusk is the oldest of nine small andesitic stratovolcanos formed more than a million years ago with numerous basaltic andesite vents in the volcanic field, part of a larger chain of volcanic peaks in the coastal mountains of the Pacific Northwest.

This is one of my favorite places to take photos. It’s only a 20 minute drive from home. Thank you very much for your nice support!
The Grenzgletscher Glacier, not as impressive as it used to be, still provide for really interesting shot. As the sky was empty and the colour still soft, I’ve opted for this contrary black and white image. I made this photo the same day like my last photo with the fog (www.flickr.com/photos/manuel_720921/11793061864/). How could this be possible? Well, I made a photo of the beautiful fog in Winterthur where I live and then like in Star Trek I flew at Warp 5 to the Alps! … Mmmmmmhhhhh, not really! Let me tell you this story :-)
It is 8 a.m. and it’s our first day of our vacation! The car … ready, the bags … packed, wife and children … bound to travel (lol) and Giorgio our dog … damn, he needs a walk! Ok, let’s go for a walk! At 8.30 a.m. I see the sweet side of the fog and make a photo! Done, he he he! Then as a shepherd, I collect all the family members and drive with a speed of Warp 5 to the Alps. 130 km or 1.5 hours later … arrival at the family home in the Alps!
In the time in which my wife and the children got out of the car to go into the house, I had already brought all the luggage into the house, changed my clothes (something more alpine), dressed the snowshoes and prepared our dog Giorgio (he always comes with me)! Then my wife said to me „Darling, can you … Darling? Darling?“ Darling, well that’s me … was gone! She saw only a cloud of dust behind me and Giorgio (lol). And 3 hours later I was already on the summit of a beautiful mountain! Ahhhhhhhhhh, finally, finally I’m here!
I made this photo at 16 p.m. on my way back from the mountain top. Sunset and temperatures of -10 degrees, what more could I want for a photo?
