Macro Mondays - Theme Pick Two ,,Iridescent Plant,,
A 4 cm piece of a ranunculus bush. Overnight ice crystals have formed. Ice crystals can form from 0 degrees. Although all ice crystals are based on the same basic shape, they can take on very different shapes and sizes as they overlap: from simple platelets or prisms to highly branched ice flowers or snowflakes, each consisting of many individual filigree branched ice crystals. Fascinating beauties that we like to be enchanted in the winter.

Wintry scene of snow, multi-colored aurora borealis and stars in the night sky over the Black church at Budir on the Snæfellsnes peninsula, Iceland
Discovered only by mere chance by Roman Erler in 2007, deep underground only at 200 meters from Hintertux Glacier’s highest point at 3,250 meters above sea level, lays the natural glacial crevasse, adequately named as “Nature’s Ice Palace”.

Crystal Mill | Marble, Colorado
I could not resist to return to the Crystal Mill this fall. This place is magical with the mill towering on the rocks and the colorful aspen trees around. As we stayed in Marble for a few days, we were able to leave early. The conditions were perfect this time. Morning mist was wrapping around the landscape, and while we were driving and I admired the beauty of the landscape around us, I was hoping we wouldn’t arrive too late at the mill. We did get some of the misty conditions upon arrival, which was nice.
This is a shot from my hike up Trout Creek Canyon to check out the ice formations in the creek. We've had consistently cold temperatures for the past 2 weeks so, the cold, together with the movement of the water in the creek, has created these icicles. They get longer as the water level in the creek gets lower, due to the freeze-up.
A red fox, Vulpes vulpes, running fast across a snow-covered meadow in snowfall, looking for food. A forest can be seen in the background.
These were moving with the waves and you can see how they fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. I will head down today to see if they have frozen together by now with these cold temperatures.
A lone hiker, stops mid cliff level to look at her phone, possibly to take a photo.
Temperatures were almost freezing and the forecast was calling for snow.
Whyte Islet is a very small island on the shore of Howe Sound. People hike along an ocean rock path to climb upon this hidden West Vancouver gem. Being aware of the changing tide is very important....the rocky path leading from the beach can quickly disappear when the tide comes in. Many people have been left stranded high and dry on this cute little island. The waterline indicates the water depth reached.

Whytecliff Park is located near West Vancouver's Horseshoe Bay Neighbourhood, the original name of which was White Cliff City, which opened in 1909. In 1914, Colonel Albert Whyte pressed for the spelling change from White Cliff City to Whytecliff. The Whytecliff area is now distinct from Horseshoe Bay. The park, originally Rockcliffe Park, was developed by W.W. Boultbee in 1926, and a private access road was cut from the Marine Drive highway at Batchelor Bay.
The fifty acre Boultbee estate was purchased by the Union Steamship Company in 1939 and the company operated a Bowen Island Ferry from Whytecliff during 1939-41 and 1946-1952
The park is currently home to more than 200 marine animal species and is the first Marine Protected Area in Canada. Sea lions can be seen sunbathing on the beach during summer.

Mullet Brook Falls | Neversink Area, New York
This image was captured at Mullet Brook Falls in the Neversink Area in New York. The waterfall is 25 foot tall. I had been there earlier, but the light wasn't quite right. This time it was fall and the fallen leaves added a nice touch. I like the rocks and vegetation behind the falls. The water level was lower, too, and that made it easier to get closer to the falls and find a composition.
Vue sur les Alpes depuis la ligne Aérienne Barcelone- Genève -View of the Alps from the Air (Barcelona-Geneva line)
A strange winter we are experiencing in Switzerland. I think I have never seen so little snow in a winter. This also has an impact on tourism in Switzerland. The high temperatures until now and only very little snow will led to substantially lower bookings in many Alpine ski resorts. I think we are feeling the effects of climate change!
I was unfortunately not very often out on a hike. And I don’t think I will again climb a mountain this winter, because it has not much snow. But one day I could see something really wonderful during a walk! I was going up the mountain and was not very happy because of the bad weather. But just such a weather reveals little surprises from time to time.
I looked at the mountain peaks and saw that some mountains were blue. It was like in a fairy tale or like in Narnia …. it was enchanted. The bad weather, the sun’s rays and the clouds played together in such a manner that the ice and snow on some mountains shimmered blue. How lucky I was to see this phenomenon. It was majestic and impressive! I just stood there without saying a word and was amazed about the awesome power of Mother Nature!
I want to thank all very much for your "views", "Comments" and "Favourites" :-) The only thing that matters is that you have joy in this photo. Again, thank you :-)
