You know its cold outside when you can teach your kids about the Mpemba effect with a cup of coffee! Can’t live though a Canadian winter without giving this classic shot a go. Ness Lake, British Columbia.

This morning I woke up to my Tree-Across-the-Field coated in a layer of white frost, along with all the other trees in the area. In half a year of taken over a dozen photos of this same tree, each one showing a different bit of weather or a different scene, each one unique and yet connected.
A colorful fall oak-tree leaf frozen several on the icy surface at Devils Lake State Park..Devils Lake State Park, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

After a rainy afternoon in Paris. The clouds finally broke away and left us with these beautiful puddles reflecting the Eiffel Towers iconic glow.
The Eiffel Tower (French: La Tour Eiffel, [tuʁ ɛfɛl], nickname La dame de fer, the iron lady) is a wrought iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris. Built in 1889, it has become both a global icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris[10] and the most-visited paid monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair.
The tower stands 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-storey building. During its construction, the Eiffel Tower surpassed the Washington Monument to assume the title of the tallest man-made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years, until the Chrysler Building in New York City was built in 1930. However, due to the addition, in 1957, of the antenna atop the Eiffel Tower, it is now taller than the Chrysler Building. Not including broadcast antennas, it is the second-tallest structure in France, after the Millau Viaduct.
The tower has three levels for visitors. Tickets can be purchased to ascend, by stairs or lift, to the first and second levels. The walk from ground level to the first level is over 300 steps, as is the walk from the first to the second level. The third and highest level is accessible only by elevator. Both the first and second levels feature restaurants.
The tower has become the most prominent symbol of both Paris and France, often in the establishing shot of films set in the city.
Certainly starting to feel like the Great White North up here again this time of year. Went out the night before last looking for auroras under the full moon and got distracted. Ness Lake, Northern British Columbia.

Imagine a place that where you can always escape. Imagine an island far away from noise and stress. An island off the coast of nowhere with blue mountain peaks and a dreamy sky waiting for you. And everything is so blue that you can’t believe. A new destination of your own creation high up where the gates of heaven await you.
This is a place where your mind can escape. This is a place where the problems of today are far far away. Here there is a time with no history and everything is in the present. No past and no future holds you captive. You are the master of your own and you’re the whole kingdom and the freedom is yours.
Pure beauty awaits you in this place. Flowers in the warm months and elegant snow covers in winter. A room full of goodness and grace but also a space where life and death drink coffee together! Oh hiker, should you ever be in this place, know … you’re in my mystery land of heaven.

In Scotland, between “ The River Garry “ and Loch Oich, near the Village of Invergarry is a lush unnamed forest. On this cold December morning a rare event occurred. Cold temperatures, fog, and a high pressure front created perfect conditions for hoar frost to form. Before my very eyes, the forest transformed into a mystical sugar coated delight.
During a hike I came to this place on the photo. Can you also see the house? The area and the house looked incredible and also scary and of course I was thinking about the legend of Sennentuntschi.
Sennentuntschi is a legendary figure of the German-speaking Alpine region (Switzerland, Germany, Austria). This legend is known in various versions but all those versions have the same central point. In the Alps usually only men were working. During the summer months the lonely herdsmen and shepherds on the high altitude of the Alps create itself out of boredom a female doll. They feed the doll for fun, talk to her and take her into bed. Shortly before the transhumance, the doll comes to life and begins to speak. She takes its revenge on the man who has done ungodly deeds in an ungodly way. In the legend the doll forces one of the herdsmen to stay with her and pulls him off the skin from the body.
There are places that you should avoid. Places that preserve certain secrets that should not be discovered. For me, this place was one of the places that I will never set a foot :-)

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” J.R.R. Tolkien Looking across at the incredible chunk of rock which makes up Gimili peak. The high quality of the rock at Gimili makes it an amazing location for scrambling and climbing, particularly compared to the crumbling sedimentary strata of the Rocky Mountains. Hard to get an idea of scale here; can you see my 3 friends sitting and having lunch on the other side of the ridge? This was a complex shot to get as Gimili towers above you even after scrambling high onto the ridge next to it. This shot was formed using 36 hand held shots stitched into a single panorama. I then edited the sky with a radial filter to achieve a long exposure look. I did have a 10 stop ND filter with me up on the ridge; but 36 long exposure shots even at 5 minutes each per shot would represent 3 hours of shooting time and the clouds would have long moved on. In Norse (or Scandinavian) mythology Gimlé or Gimili is described as the most beautiful place in Asgard, the realm of the gods. It is represented in the old stories as a kind of heaven, a golden-roofed building where righteous men go when they die. Geologically Gimili is part of the Valhalla Gneiss Complex. The complex consists of lower grade metamorphic sediments interspersed with massive high grade granitic and granodiorite intrusions such as Gimili. It sits at 2774m (9100 ft ) in the Selkirk Mountains of Valhalla Provincial Park. British Columbia, Canada.
