This transitional moment when Peyto Lake is open water, surrounded by fresh snow. Incredibly fortunate to catch it Thursday morning returning from Banff (the long way of course).
Since the weather, snow conditions and the time of the day were pretty close to the situation two years ago, I tried to recreate a previous photo on my last hike at the Rigi.
This time, I applied a more realistic rendering to the HDR composition. I still like the previous photo but I find that the HDR processing was overdone, which gave a definite artificial look to the scenery.

One male eurasian gray wolf (Canis lupus lupus) walking thru deep snow during snow fall. A forest in the background.
And another picture I found while looking through pictures taken last year. Again, it's a long exposure taken at Rügen (baltic sea).

The initial intention was to work on a civil war bunkers for a night taking advantage of the fog and snow. But access was complicated and did not have the right equipment so that we decided to portray the environment.
Usually I do not prefer landscapes with people, so this is an exception. The ascent to this rock is even not easy. To climb it at -3 °C deserves great respect! How can the beauty and tradition of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains be better shown?
Thanks for coming and have a nice evening!

Temperatures below -20°C are fine when the air is dry. Here, the fog produced an interesting soft light but is also flash froze everything including the camera and even my eyelashes (see photo below).
See more at www.adrienledoux.com Another example where you get something unexpected. I was on a hunt for a bearded vulture on the Swiss alps, the weather was cold and tough. Not much visibility but at time the sky would clear, clouds will shift which created amazing opportunities to create unique imagery. #Outdoors #Cloud #Sky #ColdTemperature #Motion #Snow #Freezing #bad_weather #switzerland #switzerland_destinations #photography #swialps #mood_art
Here's a photo from my trip to northern Norway in December 2019. It's taken from Hillesøya, that's just 'next door' to the more famous Sommarøya (directly translated to English it's called: The Summer Isle).
Sommarøya is a popular destination for both tourists and locals alike because of the beautiful landscape, local fishing village and the white beaches on the two isles.
This far north the polar night lasts from 21.november to 21.january, so the sun never goes over the horizon for over two months! This creates some truly magical and fantastic light and scenery!

Clouds hanging over the towering peaks of Baintha Brakk (aka. The Ogre) south face, with the main summit in the middle, and the east summit on the right, part of Panmah Muztagh, a subrange of the Karakoram mountains, as seen during Biafo Hispar Snow Lake trek between Baintha and Marphogoro, in Central Karakoram National Park, Gilgit-Baltistan region, northern Pakistan.
Baintha Brakk (7,285 m / 23,901 ft) is famous for being one of the hardest peaks in the world to climb. This is a mountain that has only been summitted twice, despite numerous attempts by highly qualified, top-of-their-game mountaineers.
