A cold and peaceful image from #Switzerland , I love the minimalism with the soft sky in the background. It was not the best light or the best weather but when the world gives you lemon then make some limoncello I guess #Sky #Tranquility #TranquilScene #Winter #Nature #Outdoors #ColdTemperature #ScenicsNature #sunrise #pastel_colors #landscape #landscape__photography #sony100400gm #a7riv
Kirkjufell (Church Mountain) is a mountain on the north coast of Iceland's Snæfellsnes peninsula, near the town of Grundarfjörður. It is claimed to be the most photographed mountain in the country. Kirkjufell was one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones.
Kirkjufell contains volcanic rock, but is not a volcano. It is a former nunatak, a mountain that protruded above the glaciers surrounding it during the Ice Age.

Last winter we received much more snow here in New England than we have this winter, thus far. This was taken a year ago in January with my iphone

In March of 2023, during my one month expedition to Antarctica, I had the opportunity to see and take a series of photos with magnificent king penguins.
It was an unforgettable experience for me since before that the subject of photography was mostly landscapes.
Observation of the colony, their habits and communication brought great pleasure and interest in the further study of these amazing animals.
I am sure that this trip will not be the only one for me and I`ll be glad to repeat this memorable adventure.
Today I was putting a lamp for you into the forest. There are exactly two reasons for this. First: A beautiful future will be made of light instead of shadow and second: It's almost over with the beautiful winter.
.
With this in mind, I thank you for coming and wish you all times good light!
Beautiful scenery as seen along a river bank in Potosi, Wisconsin, about 30 minutes from where I live in Dubuque, Iowa. It was a nice drive for lunch and able to get a scenic photo shoot in at the same time. Photo Images credited to Vickie Lynne Klinkhammer of Vickielynne Photography and Designs(VLP & Designs). Today we started the roll out of the winterlandscapes. I hope you will enjoy your personal one!
Thanks for coming and have a nice evening!
I have always thought Arctic winters would be grey and gloomy. In fact, because the sun operates at a such low angle, the time between sunrise und sunset paints the sky in beautiful colors for numerous hours.
The Gentoo Penguin Pygoscelis papua, is easily recognized by the wide white stripe extending like a bonnet across the top of its head and its bright orange-red bill. The gentoo penguin has pale whitish-pink webbed feet and a fairly long tail - the most prominent tail of all penguins. Chicks have grey backs with white fronts. As the Gentoo penguin waddles along on land, its tail sticks out behind, sweeping from side to side, hence the scientific name Pygoscelis, which means ‘rump-tailed’.[1] Adult Gentoos reach a height of 51 to 90 cm (20–36 in),[2][3] making them the third largest species of penguin after the two giant species, the Emperor Penguin and the King Penguin. The Gentoo penguin calls in a variety of ways, but the most frequently heard is a loud trumpeting which is emitted with its head thrown back.[4]

This is a light and limited movement of water that early forms ice at this small Hoople Bay place.
Cold temperatures this past week, including below frozen at night. Example, today temperature 0 degrees, tonight -6, that will definitely increase ice on the short water. This photo indicate water ice by shoreline on the left where the water mostly doesn’t move.
Below another view bigger ice closer to the shoreline on the left….
This transitional moment when Peyto Lake is open water, surrounded by fresh snow. Incredibly fortunate to catch it Thursday morning returning from Banff (the long way of course).
Since the weather, snow conditions and the time of the day were pretty close to the situation two years ago, I tried to recreate a previous photo on my last hike at the Rigi.
This time, I applied a more realistic rendering to the HDR composition. I still like the previous photo but I find that the HDR processing was overdone, which gave a definite artificial look to the scenery.
